      • MOA-2010-BLG-328Lb: A SUB-NEPTUNE ORBITING VERY LATE M DWARF?

        <P>We analyze the planetary microlensing event MOA-2010-BLG-328. The best fit yields host and planetary masses of M-h = 0.11 +/- 0.01 M-circle dot and M-p = 9.2 +/- 2.2 M-circle dot, corresponding to a very late M dwarf and sub-Neptune-mass planet, respectively. The system lies at D-L = 0.81 +/- 0.10 kpc with projected separation r(perpendicular to) = 0.92 +/- 0.16 AU. Because of the host's a priori unlikely close distance, as well as the unusual nature of the system, we consider the possibility that the microlens parallax signal, which determines the host mass and distance, is actually due to xallarap (source orbital motion) that is being misinterpreted as parallax. We show a result that favors the parallax solution, even given its close host distance. We show that future high-resolution astrometric measurements could decisively resolve the remaining ambiguity of these solutions.</P>

      • Outline of Uminonakamichi Seaside Park Development Project -Urban Resort Area Development by the National Government-

        The Uminonakamichi Seaside Park is located in Fukuoka and extends over an area of 540 ha. This Park is directly developed and managed mainly by the national government for its use for recreational facilities serving a wide area. It is planned and developed as an urban resort-type park, exploiting the rich natural environment of the area, to serve urban residents in northern Kyushu. The management of the Park is jointly conducted by nine bodies, including the national government and private enterprises. The Park has several functions, ranging form an urban resort to conservation of the natural environment and education. The Park has so far been positively evaluated by its visitors. However, the social background for the Park is changing and the park is now facing changing needs for this type of park, necessitating coordination with the development around the Park and a need to respond to the recent fiscal structural reform. Further improvement of the visitor services and the reconfirmation of the government's role in the development work are essential for the maintenance and enhancement of that attractions of this Park in the coming years.

        MODE CONTROL OF GUIDED WAVE IN MAGNETIC HOLLOW CYLINDER USING ELECTROMAGNETIC ACOUSTIC TRANSDUCER ARRAY

        The aim of this work is to demonstrate a method for exciting and receiving torsional andlongitudinal mode guided waves with an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) ringarray. First of all, a three-dimensional guided wave simulator is developed in order tonumerically analyze the propagation of the guided wave. The finite difference time domainmethod is used for the simulator. Second, two guided wave testing systems using an EMATring array are provided: one is for torsional mode (T-mode) guided wave and the other is forlongitudinal mode (L-mode). The EMATs used in the both systems are the same in design. A method to generate and receive the T- and L-mode guided waves with the same EMATis proposed. Finally, experimental and numerical results are compared and discussed. The results of experiments and simulation agree well, showing the potential of theEMAT ring array as a mode controllable guided wave transmitter and receiver

        Universal Statistics for Chemical Abundances in a Reproducing Cell

        Two universal statistical laws in the reaction dynamics of reproducing cells are reported that appear as a result of consistency between molecular replication and cell reproductions as a whole. First, the overall abundances of chemicals in a cell, when ordered by magnitude and plotted as a function of their rank, obey a power law with an exponent close to .1. Second, the distribution of abundances for each chemical species measured over many cells obeys a log-normal distribution. The ubiquity of these two laws is confirmed theoretically. By means of a model with a catalytic reaction network, these two laws hold universally whenever a cell exhibits efficient self-reproduction. The origin of the laws is explained theoretically by noting the cascade structure of catalytic reactions. We briefly mention experimental support for the laws by using data from gene expression analyses.

        新石器時代 中期~晩期 韓日土器文化交流의 特質

        大韓海峽을 둘러싼 韓日 新石器時代 交流에 대해서는 지금까지 많은 연구가 이루어져 왔다. 근년, 교류는 상대적으로 단편적이고 규모가 작았으며, 토기문화에 있어서는 상호 영향을 주지 않았다고 하는 지적이 잇따르면서, 하나의 조류를 이루고 있다. 또 한일 토기 교류에 관한 연구 동향의 한 측면으로서, 대한해협을 낀 지역의 교류를 동북아시아 전체 속에서 위치지우려고 하는 연구가 적극적으로 이루어지고 있는 것도 특징이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 현상을 바탕으로, 본고에서는 韓半島丸底土器에 중심을 두고 한반도 환저토기문화의 최단부에서의 토기문화 교류를 비교하여, 대한해협에서의 토기문화 교류를 한반도 환저토기문화 측에서 상대화함을 목적으로 하는 검토를 행하였다. 신석기시대 중기의 한반도환저토기와 극동평저토기의 관계에 대해서는, 清川江流域에서는 평저토기가 기본이지만 평저토기의 문양이 환저토기에 시문되는 절충토기 등이 보이면서 평저토기와 환저토기가 공존하며, 咸鏡南道에서도 평저토기와 환저토기가 공존하는 강상리유형이 전개된다. 또, 한반도 환저토기와 황하 하류역 신석기시대 토기와의 관계에 대해서는 명확한 토기문화 교류가 인정되지 않는다. 해협을 낀 지역으로서 大韓海峽과 黃海를 비교하면, 확실한 토기문화 교류의 존부에 명확한 차이가 나타나, 이 차이는 섬과 육지를 육안으로 볼 수 있는가 하는 문제와 관계되어 있을 가능성을 지적하였다. 또, 대한해협과 청천강유역·함경남도를 비교하면, 절충토기 양식의 형성 여부에 차이가 보인다. 이 차이는 해협의 유무라는 자연환경과 함께 교류의 담당자와 내용에 기인하는 것이라고 생각되며, 구체적으로는 한일 간 교류의 담당자가 남성인 어로민이 중심이고 교류 형태도 간헐적인 것이라는 종래의 지적을 뒷받침하는 것이라고 보인다. Prolific studies have been made on the exchange of the Neolithic period between Korea and Japan through the Korea peninsula. Recently, there appears a new trend that points out the exchange was relatively fragmentary and small and had almost little influence. And also there is a tendency to locate pottery exchange through Korea peninsula in the set of whole northeast Asia. Based on such trends, this study attempted to compare pottery culture on the bottom level of the Hwanjeo(round bottom) pottery culture and reviewed to make the exchange of pottery in the Straits of Korea relative in the context of the Hwanjeo culture in the Korea peninsula. In the relation between the Hwanjeo pottery in the Korea peninsula and the Far East Pyeongjeo(flat bottom) pottery in the middle Neolithic period, while the Pyeongjeo pottery was widespread in the area of the Cheongcheon River, the Hwanjeo pottery existed together having the Jeolchung(mixed type) pottery in which pattern of the Pyeongjeo pottery was inscribed in the Hwanjeo pottery. In Hamgyeongnam-do, Gangsang-ri type in which the Pyeongjeo and Hwanjeo potteries co-existed was found. And, there was no clear exchange between the Korea peninsula Hwanjeo pottery and the pottery in the Neolithic period in the downstream of the Yellow River. There is an explicit difference in the existence of apparent pottery culture exchange when it comes compare the Straits of Korea and the Yellow Sea as areas with straits. This difference may link to a matter if island and land can be seen with naked eyes. When the Straits of Korea, the Cheongcheon River and Hamgyeongnam-do are compared, there is a different in the Jeolchung pottery pattern formation. This difference is conjectured to be caused by natural environment such as the existence of strait. Specifically, the facts that attendants of exchange between Korea and Japan were male fishermen, and that the exchange type was sporadic seem to support the remark as in the past.

        죠몬시대 후기 북부큐슈의 묘제와 한반도의 관계

        본고는 규슈 조몬 시대 후기를 중심으로 한 시기의 묘제를 개관하고 한반도의 영향에 대해 고찰하였다. 검토 결과, 한반도 집단과 가장 접촉이 많았던 쓰시마섬(対馬島)에서도 명확하게 영향 관계를 지적할 수 없었다. 조몬 시대에는 한일간 정신문화와 관련된 교류는거의 없었기 때문에 묘제에도 영향이 적었다고 생각된다. 다만 부석장(覆石葬)이나 조개팔찌의 문제에 대해서는 앞으로도 계속 검토할 필요가 있다. 고가와시마(小川島) 패총 4호 무덤은 한반도 신석기 시대 만기 토기가 부장 또는 공헌된 것이라고 보이지만, 묘제의 공통성을 볼 때 쓰시마 섬과의 관련이 상정된다. 겐카이나다(玄界灘) 도서부를 왕래하는 사람들에게는 한반도 신석기 시대 토기가 상징적인 의미를 가지고 있었을 가능성도 지적할 수 있다. This paper provides an overview of the burials of the late Jomon period in Kyushu, and examines the influence of the Korean Peninsula. But, even on Tsushima Island(対馬島), which had the most contact with the Korean Peninsula, the clear relationship couldn't pointed out. In the Jomon period, there were few exchanges related to spiritual sphere between Korea and Japan, so it is thought that the influence on the burials was small. However, it is necessary to continue to review the problem of stone covered burials(覆石葬) and shell bracelets. The Kogawashima (小川島) Shell midden Tomb No. 4 appears to have the pottery of the latest phase of Korean Neolithic, but it is assumed to be related to Tsushima Island. It is also possible to point out the possibility that pottery of the Korean Peninsula may have had a symbolic meaning to those traveling to and from the Islands around the Genkainada(玄界灘).

        Feasible waste liquid treatment from electroless nickel-plating by intense magnetic field of HTS bulk magnets

        Nickel (Ni) is a kind of the rare earth resources. Since Ni-containing waste is drained after several plating operations in the factories, the effective recycling technique has been expected to be introduced. An actual magnetic separation technique using HTS bulk magnet generating the strong magnetic field has succeeded in collecting the paramagnetic slurry containing Ni-sulphate coarse crystals which were fabricated from the Ni-plating waste. The Ni compound in the collected slurry was identified as NiSO<sub>4</sub>/6H<sub>2</sub>O, showing slight differences in the particle size and magnetic susceptibility between the samples attracted and not-attract to the magnetic pole. This preferential extraction suggests us a novel recycling method of Ni resource because the compound is capable of recycling back to the plating processes as a raw material.

      • Preconditioning Method of Simulating Gas, Liquid and Supercritical-Fluid Flows with Phase Change

        A numerical method for simulating gas, liquid, and supercritical-fluid flows across the critical point is presented. The present method is based on the preconditioning method developed by the authors and mathematical models of thermophysical properties develooped by Kyushu University. The thermophysical properties such as density, viscosity, heat conductivity and the derived values are rapidly changed across the critical point. Especially the isobaric specific heat has a maximum peak value. The present method can simulate both low- and high-speed flows with the anomalous properties across the critical point accuartely. As numerical examples, the calculated results of low- and high-speed supercritical carbon-dioxide and water flows across the critical point are introduced.
