Application of a new cavitation model for computations of unsteady turbulent cavitating flows around a hydrofoil

Feng Hong,Jian-Ping Yuan,Banglun Zhou 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.1

In the present work, a cavitation model based on a new truncated form of the full Rayleigh-Plesset (R-P) equation for the source terms controlling vapor generation and destruction has been developed and implemented in the ANSYS FLUENT platform. Coupled with a Filter-based density corrected model (FBDCM), the cavitating flow over a 2-D Clark-Y hydrofoil is investigated numerically with particular emphasis on understanding the effect of cavitation structures and the shedding dynamics on the hydrodynamics coefficients and surrounding flow velocity structures. The hydrofoil has a fixed angle of attack of α = 8 o with a moderate Reynolds number of Re = 7.0×10 5 . Simulations have been carried out for various cavitation numbers ranging from non-cavitating flows to the cloud cavitation regime (σ = 0.80). In particular, we compared the lift and drag coefficients, the cavitation dynamics and the time-averaged velocity with available experimental data for two cavitation models, i.e. the proposed model and Schnerr-Sauer model. The comparisons between the numerical and experimental results show that the proposed model has a better capability than Schnerr-Sauer model to capture the characteristics of lift and drag coefficients under cavitation conditions. Meanwhile, the proposed model is sufficiently robust to predict the initiation of the sheet/cloud cavity, growth towards the trailing edge, and subsequent shedding downstream, which is in accordance with the experimental quantitative features in literature.

A Passive Lossless Soft-Switching Single Inductor Dual Buck Full-Bridge Inverter

        Feng Hong,Yu Wu,Zunjing Ye,Baojian Ji,Yufei Zhou 전력전자학회 2018 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.18 No.2

A novel passive lossless soft-switching single inductor dual buck full-bridge inverter (PLSSIDBFBI) is presented in this paper. To accomplish this, a passive lossless snubber circuit is added to a dual buck full-bridge inverter. Therefore, the advantages of the dual buck full-bridge inverter are included in the proposed inverter, and the inverter has just one filter inductor, which can decrease the system volume and improve the integration. In addition, the passive lossless snubber circuit achieves soft-switching by its own resonance, and all of the energy stored in the passive lossless snubber circuit can be transferred to load. A comparison between eight topologies is performed in this paper, and the analysis shows that the proposed soft-switching inverter topology has high reliability and efficiency. Finally, experimental results obtained with a 1 kW prototype verify the theoretical analysis and demonstrate the prominent characteristics of a reduced switching loss and improved efficiency.

Practical Calculation Method for the Short‑Circuit Current of Power Grids with High Temperature Superconducting Fault Current Limiters

        Hai‑feng Hong,Meng‑ze Yu,Xiao‑hui Zhang,Jia‑jia Huan,Yu Sui,Xian‑xian Pan 대한전기학회 2020 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.15 No.2

With the expansion of the power grid scale and the enhancement of network structure interconnection, the short-circuit current of power grids is increasingly close to the upper capacity limit of circuit breakers. The fault current limiter is efective in suppressing the short-circuit current of power grids, and with the mature development of superconducting technology, high-temperature superconducting fault current limiters (HTS-FCLs) have been widely used in power grids. Due to the nonlinear impedance–current characteristic of HTS-FCLs, the traditional short-circuit current calculation method is inapplicable to power grids with HTS-FCLs. First, based on the establishment of the electromechanical transient model and the short-circuit calculation model, the short-circuit current calculation procedure for power grids with HTS-FCLs is proposed. Second, the calculation methods for three-phase and single-phase short-circuit currents at the substation bus in power grids with HTS-FCLs are analyzed. Finally, three-phase and single-phase short-circuit currents at the 500 kV Xijiang substation bus in the Guangdong power grid are calculated as the study case. Simulation results show that compared with the situation where there is no HTS-FCL installed, the short-circuit current on the 500 kV bus decreases from 65.34 to 58.31 kA in terms of the three-phase short-circuit fault, and decreases from 54.56 to 46.62 kA in terms of the single-phase short-circuit fault, thus verifying the efectiveness and practicability of HTS-FCLs in suppressing the short-circuit current, which is signifcant for the safe, stable and reliable operation of the power grid.

Preparation of sawdust functionalized with aspartic acid and its sorption capacity, kinetics and thermodynamics for basic dyes

        Fenghong Huang,Renmin Gong,Na Li,Shoujun Ni,Pingzhen Guo 한국화학공학회 2010 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.27 No.5

An ion exchanger with carboxyl groups as active sites was prepared by activating sawdust with epichlorohydrin, followed by coupling the epoxy-activated sawdust with aspartic acid. The optimal sorption condition, sorption capacity, kinetics and thermodynamics of basic dyes on sawdust ion exchanger (SIE) from aqueous solution were investigated in a batch system. Two basic dyes, methylene blue (MB) and crystal violet (CV), were selected as sorbates. The optimal pH value of MB and CV solutions for favorable sorption was pH 4 and above. The removal ratios of MB and CV on SIE increased with increasing sorbent dose but decreased with increasing dye concentration. The isothermal data of MB and CV sorbed on SIE correlated basically with the Langmuir model. The maximum sorption capacity (Qm) of SIE for MB and CV was 222.22 and 232.56 mg/g, respectively. The sorption equilibriums of MB and CV on SIE were reached at about 9 h, and the sorption processes could be described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The thermodynamic study indicated that the sorptions of MB and CV on SIE were spontaneous and endothermic at the predetermined temperatures. High temperatures were favorable for the sorption processes.

        MIXED CHORD-INTEGRALS OF STAR BODIES

Fenghong, Lu Korean Mathematical Society 2010 대한수학회지 Vol.47 No.2

The mixed chord-integrals are defined. The Fenchel-Aleksandrov inequality and a general isoperimetric inequality for the mixed chordintegrals are established. Furthermore, the dual general Bieberbach inequality is presented. As an application of the dual form, a Brunn-Minkowski type inequality for mixed intersection bodies is given.

METRICAL AND TOPOLOGICAL PRESSURE OF FLOWS WITHOUT FIXED POINTS

        Lianfa He,Fenghong Yang,Yinghui Gao Korean Mathematical Society 2004 대한수학회지 Vol.41 No.6

We study the metrical and topological pressure for flows without fixed points on a compact metric space, and get the results as follows: (1) The metrical pressure with respect to an ergodic measure can be defined by (t, $\varepsilon$)-spanning sets. (2) The topological pressure is the supremum of metrical pressures with respect to all ergodic measures. (3) The properties that the topological pressure is zero, nonzero, finite or infinite respectively are invariant under weak equivalence.

The determination of epidermal growth factor in Edible bird's nest by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay

        Bai Weijuan,Deng Fenghong,Zhang Xiaojiang,Zhang Xiaojiang,Xiao Yue’e,Wang Nan,Liu Xuncai,Fan Qunyan,Guo Baozhong 한국응용생명화학회 2023 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.66 No.-

Edible bird's nest (EBN) is a traditional food which was nourishing and functional. Particularly, there is the epidermal growth factor (EGF) in EBN, which is thought to play an important role in promoting skin repair. However, the type and content of EGF in EBN were not determined yet. In this study, the type of EGF in EBN was identified as bird EGF by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and this method was validated to be accurate and precise. Moreover, it was found that the content of EGF in raw-unclean EBN, raw-clean EBN and stewed EBN was 3000 pg/g–4000 pg/g and there were no significant differences, which suggested that the batches, origins, forms, stewing temperatures and stewing times of EBN had no effect on the content of EGF in EBN. However, it was due to that enzyme destroyed the primary structure of EGF, the EGF content of neutral protease and trypsin hydrolysates of EBN was lower than that of flavor enzymes, alkaline protease and pepsin hydrolysates of EGF. This study was the first to determine the type and content of EGF in EBN, and provided a theoretical basis for the selection and processing of EBN and using EBN as a source of EGF.

Expression and Regulation of Transcription Factor FoxA2 in Chronic Rhinosinusitis With and Without Nasal Polyps

        Qing Luo,Jia Zhang,Hongtian Wang,Fenghong Chen,Xi Luo,Beiping Miao,Xingmei Wu,Renqiang Ma,Xiangqian Luo,Geng Xu,Jianbo Shi,Huabin Li 대한천식알레르기학회 2015 Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Research Vol.7 No.5

Purpose: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is characterized by the excessive production of mucus. However, the molecular mechanism underlying mucin overproduction in CRS with or without nasal polyps (CRSwNP and CRSsNP, respectively) is poorly understood. This study was conducted to assess the importance of the transcription factor FoxA2 in mucin production and to investigate the targeting of FoxA2 as a potential therapeutic strategy for mucus hypersecretion in CRS patients. Methods: We enrolled 15 CRSwNP patients, 15 CRSsNP patients, and 10 normal controls in this study. The expression levels of FoxA2, MUC5AC, and MUC5B in inflamed and healthy nasal tissues were examined via immunohistochemistry and quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, and the levels of several proinflammatory cytokines in nasal secretions were measured via FlowCytomix analysis. In addition, the expression of MUC5AC and FoxA2 was determined in polyp-derived epithelial cells and NCI-H292 cells after in vitro stimulation. Results: FoxA2 was significantly down-regulated, and MUC5AC and MUC5B were significantly up-regulated in both the CRSwNP and CRSsNP patients compared to the controls (P<0.05), and the protein level of FoxA2 was negatively associated with the IL-6 level in the CRS patients (P<0.05). IL-6 significantly increased MUC5AC expression but inhibited FoxA2 expression in vitro (P<0.05). Transfection with a FoxA2 expression plasmid significantly decreased MUC5AC promoter activity (P<0.05) and inhibited IL-6-induced MUC5AC production (P<0.05). In addition, clarithromycin significantly alleviated IL-6-induced FoxA2 suppression and decreased MUC5AC expression in vitro (P<0.05). Conclusions: Our findings suggest that FoxA2 may be considered a therapeutic target for the modulation of mucus hypersecretion in CRS patients.

A Novel Multifocus Image Fusion Algorithm Based on Nonsubsampled Contourlet Transform

( Cuiyin Liu ),( Peng Cheng ),( Shu-qing Chen ),( Cuiwei Wang ),( Fenghong Xiang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2013 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.7 No.3

A novel multifocus image fusion algorithm based on NSCT is proposed in this paper. In order to not only attain the image focusing properties and more visual information in the fused image, but also sensitive to the human visual perception, a local multidirection variance (LEOV) fusion rule is proposed for lowpass subband coefficient. In order to introduce more visual saliency, a modified local contrast is defined. In addition, according to the feature of distribution of highpass subband coefficients, a direction vector is proposed to constrain the modified local contrast and construct the new fusion rule for highpass subband coefficients selection The NSCT is a flexible multiscale, multidirection, and shift-invariant tool for image decomposition, which can be implemented via the atrous algorithm. The proposed fusion algorithm based on NSCT not only can prevent artifacts and erroneous from introducing into the fused image, but also can eliminate `block effect` and `frequency aliasing` phenomenon. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieved better fusion results than wavelet-based and CT-based fusion method in contrast and clarity.
