        Preparation and photocatalytic activity of a novel BiOCl/g‑C3N4 thin film prepared via spin coating

        Novel BiOCl/g-C3N4 thin film photocatalysts were synthesized via a simple two-step spin coating method. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the thin films for the degradation of rhodamine B under visible light (λ ≥ 400 nm) was investigated. The results showed that the BiOCl/g-C3N4 thin film photocatalysts exhibited significantly improved visible light absorption compared to the pure BiOCl thin film. The BiOCl/g-C3N4 film showed a rhodamine B degradation efficiency of 81.0% under visible light, which is 23.8 times higher than that of the pure BiOCl thin film. This excellent photocatalytic activity of the BiOCl/g-C3N4 film can be attributed to its efficient electron–hole separation due to the presence of g-C3N4.

        Identification of candidate odorant‐degrading enzyme genes in the antennal transcriptome of Aphidius gifuensis

        Odorant‐degrading enzymes (ODEs) have been found in insect antennae and play a critical role in signal chemical degradation once the message is conveyed. Significant progress has been made in characterizing ODEs in a variety of pests but very little is known in their natural enemies. We have carried out an antennae‐ and sex‐specific transcriptome of Aphidius gifuensis, a natural enemy of aphid, to identify the candidate ODEs. Based on the antennae‐ and sex‐specific transcriptome, a total of 100 putative ODEs were identified including one aldehyde oxidase (AOX), four alcohol dehydrogenases (ADs), eight UDP‐glucuronosyltransferases (UGTs), 45 cytochrome P450 (P450s), nine glutathione S‐transferases (GSTs) and 40 carboxylesterases (CCEs or CXEs). Additionally, we used RT‐qPCR to determine the expression profiles of these genes in tissues of both sexes. Based on the phylogenic analysis and tissue‐expression patterns, AgifEstE4, AgifCXE3, AgifCCE4, AgifCCE7, and AgifCCE18 were suggested as key ODEs in A. gifuensis. In addition, the female or male specifically enriched genes, such as AgifCCE17, AgifEstB1, AgifCYP18a1, AgifUGT2C2, were also considered to involve in the chemosensory processing in A. gifuensis. This study not only identified the candidate ODEs in A. gifuensis but also provided source for further exploration of the molecular mechanisms of chemical signal transductions in A. gifuensis, as well as other hymenopteran species.

      • Concurrent Weekly Docetaxel Chemotherapy in Combination with Radiotherapy for Stage III and IVA-B Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

        Background and Purpose: Cisplatin is the most common chemotherapeutic agent for loco-regionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC); however, toxicity is a limiting factor for some patients. We retrospectively compared the efficacy and toxicity of weekly docetaxel-based and cisplatin-based concurrent chemoradiotherapy in loco-regionally advanced NPC. Methods and Materials: Eighty-four patients with Stage III and IVA-B NPCs, treated between 2007 and 2008, were retrospectively analyzed. Thirty received weekly docetaxel-based concurrent chemotherapy, and 43 were given weekly cisplatin-based concurrent chemotherapy. Radiotherapy was administered using a conventional technique (seven weeks, 2.0 Gy per fraction, total dose 70-74 Gy) with 6-8 Gy boosts for some patients with locally advanced disease. Results: Median follow-up time was 42.3 months (range, 8.6-50.8 months). There were no significant differences in the 3-year loco-regional failure-free survival (85.6% vs. 92.3%; p=0.264), distant failure-free survival (87.0% vs. 92.5%; p=0.171), progression-free survival (85.7% vs. 88.4%; p=0.411) or overall survival (86.5% vs. 92.5%, p=0.298) of patients treated concurrently with docetaxel or cisplatin. Severe toxicity was not common in either group. Conclusions: Weekly docetaxel-based concurrent chemoradiotherapy is potentially effective and has a tolerable toxicity; however, further investigations are required to determine if docetaxel is superior to cisplatin for advanced stage NPC.

        視覺傳達設計中傳統圖形符號應用研究

        전통적인 도형과 문화 기호는 시각적 전달 디자인 발전의 중요한 표현 매개체이자 사회화 발전에서 사람들의 생활수준을 향상시키는 밀접한 기호이다. 역할을 통해 시각적 전달 디자인 응용 공간을 넓힌 결과이자 문화적 기호 영향을 받아 시각적으로 디자인의 의미와 응용을 바탕으로 하는 시각디자인 효과로 중국 시각전달 산업의 발전에 적극적인 추진 역할을 한다. 전통 문화는 문화에 부합되는 한 가지로서 깊은 시대적 의미와 가치를 가진다. 그러나 현대 부호의 시각 디자인에 도안과 부호의 다차원 변화가 존재한다. 전통적인 도안 기호는 시각 디자인에 깊은 영향을 미친다. 실제 응용과 응용 전략에 대한 분석은 반드시 예술적 의미 표현에 융합된 특성, 디자인의 운반체와 본체를 포함한다. 도안과 문화 기호 결과는 새로운 높이에 이르렀다. 본고는 중국 전통 도형 기호의 역사 배경을 논술하면서 전통적인 도형 기호의 의미, 특징과 변천 과정을 제시하여 전통적인 도형 기호의 철학 사상에 대해 문화를 논술하고 중국 문화의 철학 사상과 도안 기호에 대해 관련 해석을 한다. 전개 논술 전통적인 도안 기호는 시각적 전달 디자인 응용 형식에서 표현되고 도안 부호 형식의 자연, 생각, 교차 재구성 세 가지 측면에서 논술한다. 마지막으로 도안 기호의 미래 발전에 대해 개인적인 전망과 정리를 한다. 본 연구는 시각적 전달 디자인의 관련 특징을 착안점으로 삼아 실제적인 시각전달 디자인 실천에서 문화 기호의 뚜렷한 가치를 논술하는 중심으로 설계자가 타당성 있는 참고를 제공하는 것으로 간주한다. Traditional graphics and cultural symbols are important performance carriers for the development of visual communication design. They are also closely related to the improvement of people's living standards in the process of social development. In terms of function, it is the result of expanding the application space of visual communication design and the visual design effect based on the connotation and application of visual communication design under the influence of cultural symbols, which has a positive role in promoting the development of visual communication industry in China. Traditional culture, as a kind of cultural conformity, has its profound connotation and value of the times. However, there are multi-dimensional changes in patterns and symbols in modern symbol visual design. Traditional pattern symbols have a profound impact on visual design. Practical application and application strategy analysis are bound to be in the expression of artistic connotation, with its integration characteristics, the design carrier and ontology are transmitted The result of unified pattern and cultural symbol reached a new height. This paper starts with the historical background of Chinese traditional graphic symbols, puts forward the connotation, characteristics and evolution process of traditional graphic symbols, expounds the philosophical thoughts of traditional graphic symbols in culture, and explains the philosophical thoughts and graphic symbols of Chinese culture in relation. This paper expounds the application form of traditional pattern symbols in visual communication design, and discusses from three aspects: the nature, the idea and the cross reconstruction of pattern symbols. At last, the author makes a personal outlook and summary on the future development of graphic symbols. This study takes the relevant characteristics of visual communication design as the starting point, and in the actual practice of visual communication design, focuses on the outstanding value of cultural symbols, so as to provide feasible reference for designers.

      • MiR-21 Upregulation Induced by Promoter Zone Histone Acetylation is Associated with Chemoresistance to Gemcitabine and Enhanced Malignancy of Pancreatic Cancer Cells

        Background and Aims: MicroRNA-21 (miR-21) is reported to be overexpressed and to contribute to proliferation, apoptosis and gemcitabine resistance in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs). The aims of this study were to explore regulation of miR-21 expression by epigenetic change and its impact on chemoresistance and malignant properties of of pancreatic cancer. Materials and methods: We retrospectively collected 41 cases of advanced pancreatic cancer patients who were sensitive or resistant to gemcitabine and assessed levels of serum circulating miR-21 for correlation with cytotoxic activity. Histone acetylation in the miR-21 promoter was also studied in gemcitabine-sensitive and gemcitabine-resistant PDAC cells. Gemcitabine-resistant HPAC and PANC-1 cells were transfected with pre-miR-21 precursors (pre-miR-21) and antisense oligonucleotides (anti-miR-21), and were treated with TSA. Finally, invasion and metastasis assays were performed and alteration in mir-21, PTEN, AKT and pAKT level was evaluated in these cells. Results: Serum miR-21 levels were increased in gemcitabine-resistant PDAC patients compared with gemcitabine-sensitive subjects. The miR-21 levels were increased in 6 PDAC cells treated with gemcitabine significantly, associated with 50% inhibitory concentrations ($IC_{50}s$). Histone acetylation levels at miR-21 promoter were increased in PDAC cells after treatment with gemcitabine. Enhanced invasion and metastasis, increased miR-21 expression, decreased PTEN, elevated pAKT level were demonstrated in gemcitabine-resistant HPAC and PANC-1 cells. Pre-miR-21 transfection or TSA treatment further increased invasion and metastasis ability, decreased PTEN, and elevated pAKT levels in these two lines. In contrast, anti-miR-21 transfection could reverse invasion and metastasis, and PTEN and pAKT expressions induced by gemcitabine. Conclusions: MiR-21 upregulation induced by histone acetylation in the promoter zone is associated with chemoresistance to gemcitabine and enhanced malignant potential in pancreatic cancer cells.

        Time-dependent Nonlinear Theory and Numerical Simulation of Folded Waveguide Traveling Wave Tubes

        In this paper, a time-dependent nonlinear theory including the generalized time-dependent radiofrequency (RF) field equations is presented to simulate the beam and wave interaction (BWI) of folded waveguide (FWG) traveling wave tubes (TWTs). The analytical RF fields in FWG TWTs are replaced by digitized RF field profiles obtained from electromagnetic simulations. A W-band FWG TWT is studied by using a self-consistent one-dimensional code based on the theory. The numerical results show good predictions when compared with the experimental tests.

        Study on host plants for reproduction of Chilo suppressalis

        The rice stem borer, Chilo suppressalis, is generally considered to be a polyphagous pest. The current study challenges this view by investigating its oviposition preference, larval survival and development on different host plants under both laboratory and field conditions. Rice and water-oat populations of the borer inhabiting on corresponding plants respectively have partial reproductive isolation based on previous studies. In a laboratory multiple-choice test, C. suppressalis adults from rice population laid most of eggs on water-oat (46.5% of total eggs) and rice (43.8%), with very fewlaid onwheat (3.6%), sugarcane (4.0%) andmaize (2.0%). Field surveys supported the laboratory study and found no egg on the plants other than rice and water-oat. Neonate inoculation experiments performed in field and laboratory showed that larval survival rate was much higher on rice (49.1%–51.2%) and wheat (36.5%–44.1%) than that on water-oat (10.7%–10.8%), maize (1.2%–7.2%), sugarcane (0–1.5%) and weeds (2.4%). These results were discussed with the data reported from water-oat population and it was concluded that C. suppressalis is not a typical polyphagous pest. Rice population mainly reproduces on rice and use water-oat only as minor host, and water-oat population breeds better on water-oat than on rice as reported. Neither population could thrive on the other recorded host plants, which are used for the supplementary nutrition sources of larvae. These findings provide useful information for the development of control strategies to prevent C. suppressalis laying eggs on rice seedlings in early spring, hence effectively reducing population density of this pest in rice fields.

        Kinetics studies of dimethyl carbonate synthesis from urea and methanol over ZnO catalyst

        A kinetic experiment of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) synthesis by urea methanol over ZnO catalyst was carried out in an isothermal fixed-bed reactor. A kinetic model based on the mole fraction was proposed and the kinetic parameters were estimated from the experimental results. The model predictions were compared with the experimental data and fair agreements were found. The effects of the reaction temperature (443-473 K), space time (0-4.7 h mol−1kgcat) and urea mass percent (5-9%) in feed on DMC mole fraction were investigated. It was found that the reactions are mainly influenced by the reaction temperature and space time rather than urea mass percent in feed. The experimental and simulated results indicated that the reaction from MC to DMC was the rate-controlling step in the DMC synthesis process from urea and methanol. It is important to remove the DMC and byproduct ammonia to achieve a high selectivity of DMC. This implies that reactive distillation might be used in the DMC synthesis on an industrial scale to achieve a higher selectivity of DMC.

Then we apply these purely algebraic techniques to obtain several range inclusion results of pair of (generalized-)derivations on a Banach algebra.
