Relationship of Probable Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder with Severity of Psychopathology and Impulsivity in a Sample of Male Patients with Opioid Use Disorder

        Cuneyt Evren,Izgi Alniak,Vahap Karabulut,Turan Cetin,Gokhan Umut,Ruken Agachanli,Bilge Evren 대한신경정신의학회 2018 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.15 No.2

ObjectiveaaThe aim of the present study was to evaluate relationship of probable attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with severity of psychopathology and the effect of impulsivity on this relationship in a sample of male patients with opioid use disorder (OUD). MethodsaaParticipants included 234 patients (115 inpatients and 119 outpatients) with OUD. Participants were evaluated with the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1), the Symptom Checklist-90-R (SCL-90-R) and the Short Form of Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11-SF). ResultsaaPsychopathology and impulsivity scores were higher among those with the probable ADHD. ADHD scores were midly to moderately correlated with impulsivity and psychopathology scores. In logistic regression analyses, while severity of general psychopathology and impulsivity predicted probable ADHD in the first Model, in the second Model, among dimensions of psychopathology obsessive compulsive (OC) dimension, whereas among dimensions of impulsivity non-planning and motor impulsivity predicted probable ADHD. ConclusionaaThese findings suggest that probable ADHD is related with the severity of psychopathology, particularly OC dimension, while the severity of impulsivity may have an partial mediator (particularly non-planning and motor impulsivity) effect on this relationship among patients with OUD.

Expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 and survivin in endometrioid and nonendometrioid endometrial cancers and clinicopathologic significance

        Evren Yilmaz,Meral Koyuncuoglu,İlknur Bilkay Görken,Emre Okyay,Bahadir Saatli,Emine Cagnur Ulukus,Ugur Saygili 대한부인종양학회 2011 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.22 No.2

Objective: To determine matrix metalloproteinase-2 and survivin expressions in endometrial cancers, their relation to clinical and histologic parameters and to investigate any difference in the expression of these markers between endometrioid and nonendometrioid cancers. Methods: Ninety-five patients with endometrial cancer, were included. Matrix metalloproteinase-2 and survivin expressions were analyzed immunohistochemically from paraffin-embedded tissues by using specific monoclonal antibodies. Results: Survivin nuclear expression was higher in endometrioid cancer as compared to nonendometrioid cancer (p=0.040), but there was no difference for cytoplasmic survivin and matrix metalloproteinase-2 expressions between type I and type II carcinomas. Survivin cytoplasmic staining was significantly lower in patients with deep myometrial invasion (p=0.038). Nuclear expression of survivin is decreased in histologic grade 3 tumors compared to grade 1 and 2 tumors (p=0.013), but there is no difference between grade 1 and 2. We did not find any statistically significant difference between survivin or matrix metalloproteinase-2 expressions and survival. Conclusion: Survivin and matrix metalloproteinase-2 are present in endometrioid and nonendometrioid cancers. Grade 1 and 2 tumors and carcinomas having myometrial invasion less than 50% have higher survivin expression. These results supports that, survivin may play an important role in early stage tumors and early phases of tumor development. We did not find any association between matrix metalloproteinase-2 expression and classical prognostic factors in endometrial cancer and both proteins were not associated with survival. Predictive factors for flexible ureterorenoscopy requirement after rigid ureterorenoscopy in cases with renal pelvic stones sized 1 to 2 cm

        Evren Süer,Ömer Gülpinar,Cihat Özcan,Çağatay Göğüş,Seymur Kerimov,Mut Şafak 대한비뇨의학회 2015 Investigative and Clinical Urology Vol.56 No.2

Purpose: To evaluate the outcomes of rigid ureterorenoscopy (URS) for renal pelvic stones (RPS) sized 1 to 2 cm and to determinethe predictive factors for the requirement for flexible URS (F-URS) when rigid URS fails. Materials and Methods: A total of 88 patients were included into the study. In 48 patients, the RPS were totally fragmented withrigid URS and F-URS was not required (group 1). In 40 patients, rigid URS was not able to access the renal pelvis or fragmentationof the stones was not completed owing to stone position or displacement and F-URS was utilized for retrograde intrarenal surgery(RIRS) (group 2). The predictive factors for F-URS requirement during RIRS for RPS were evaluated. Both groups were compared regardingage, height, sex, body mass index, stone size, stone opacity, hydronephrosis, and previous treatments. Results: The mean patient age was 48.6±16.5 years and the mean follow-period was 39±11.5 weeks. The overall stone-free rate inthe study population was 85% (75 patients). In groups 1 and 2, the overall stone-free rates were 83% (40 patients) and 87% (35 patients),respectively (p>0.05). The independent predictors of requirement for F-URS during RIRS were male gender, patient height, and higher degree of hydronephrosis. Conclusions: Rigid URS can be utilized in selected patients for the fragmentation of RPS sized 1 to 2 cm with outcomes similar tothat of F-URS. In case of failure of rigid URS, F-URS can be performed successfully in this group of patients.

Effect of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus on Prognosis of Nonmetastatic Renal Cell Cancer

        Evren Süer,Erdem Öztürk,Ömer Gülpınar,Aytaç Kayış,Sümer Baltacı 대한비뇨의학회 2013 Investigative and Clinical Urology Vol.54 No.8

Purpose: We evaluated the prognostic value of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) in patients treated surgically for localized renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Materials and Methods: Between 1995 and 2011, 588 patients with renal tumor diagnoses were treated surgically and 492 patients with pathologically confirmed nonmetastatic RCC diagnoses were included in the study. The associations of clinical and pathologic parameters with a type 2 DM diagnosis were evaluated. Kaplan-Meier estimations for disease-specific survival (DSS) and overall survival (OS) were generated according to type 2 DM diagnosis, and the log-rank test was used to compare survival according to the variables. Results: The mean age of the patients was 56.7±12 years (range, 15 to 84 years; median, 58 years) and the mean length of follow-up was 35.9±28 months (range, 1 to 145 months; median, 34.3 months). Of the 492 patients, 62 (12.6%) had a diagnosis of DM at the time of surgery (group I) and 430 did not have DM (group II). The mean age and the incidence of clear cell RCC histological subtype were significantly higher in group I than in group II (p<0.001 and p=0.036, respectively). Although DSS and OS were lower in group I, this difference was not significant. Type 2 DM was not detected as an independent prognostic factor for DSS and OS. Conclusions: This study investigated the role and effect of DM on the prognosis of localized RCC that was treated surgically. The present study did not detect DM as an independent prognostic factor for RCC.

The Relationship between 10 Years Risk of Cardiovascular Disease and Schizophrenia Symptoms: Preliminary Results

        Esin Evren Kilicaslan,Merve Karakilic,Almila Erol 대한신경정신의학회 2019 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.16 No.12

Objective Previous research shows that patients with schizophrenia have increased cardiovascular disease risk than general population. Increased cardiovascular risk in schizophrenia patients have been associated with many reasons such as antipsychotic drugs, genetic predisposition, andlifestyle. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between the risk of heart disease and schizophrenia symptomatology. Methods The 10-year cardiovascular risk was assessed by the Framingham Risk Score (FRS) in 103 patients with schizophrenia and in 39 healthy controls. Sociodemographic characteristics, age at schizophrenia onset, duration of illness, number of hospitalizations, the course of the disease and antipsychotic medications were recorded. Patients’ symptoms were evaluated via The Scale for the Assessment of Negative Symptoms (SANS), The Scale for the Assessment of Positive Symptoms (SAPS), and Calgary Depression Scale for Schizophrenia (CDSS). Results Ten-year cardiovascular risk was 5.16% inpatients with schizophrenia, and 3.02% in control group (p=0.030). No significant correlation was found between FRS scores, SANS, SAPS, and CDSS scores. However, FRS scores were significantly correlated with age, number of hospitalizations and duration of disease (r=0.300, 0.261, 0.252, respectively). Moreover FRS scores were higher (p=0.008) and highdensity lipoprotein (HDL) levels were lower (p=0.048) in patients using multiple antipsychotics. Conclusion Our findings suggest a relationship between the risk of cardiovascular disease and the duration and overall severity of schizophrenia and also highlights the role of antipsychotics in this relationship.

Singular minimal translation graphs in Euclidean spaces

        Muhittin Evren Aydin,Ayla Erdur,Mahmut Erg\"ut 대한수학회 2021 대한수학회지 Vol.58 No.1

In this paper, we consider the problem of finding the hypersurface $M^{n}$ in the Euclidean $\left( n+1\right)$-space $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ that satisfies an equation of mean curvature type, called singular minimal hypersurface equation. Such an equation physically characterizes the surfaces in the upper halfspace $\mathbb{R}_{+}^{3}\left( \mathbf{u} \right) $ with lowest gravity center, for a fixed unit vector $\mathbf{u}\in \mathbb{R}^{3}$. We first state that a singular minimal cylinder $M^{n}$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ is either a hyperplane or a $\alpha $-catenary cylinder. It is also shown that this result remains true when $M^{n}$ is a translation hypersurface and $\mathbf{u}$ is a horizantal vector. As a further application, we prove that a singular minimal translation graph in $\mathbb{R }^{3}$ of the form $z=f(x)+g(y+cx),$ $c\in \mathbb{R-\{}0\},$ with respect to a certain horizantal vector $\mathbf{u}$ is either a plane or a $\alpha $- catenary cylinder.

NON-ZERO CONSTANT CURVATURE FACTORABLE SURFACES IN PSEUDO-GALILEAN SPACE

Aydin, Muhittin Evren,Kulahci, Mihriban,Ogrenmis, Alper Osman Korean Mathematical Society 2018 대한수학회논문집 Vol.33 No.1

Factorable surfaces, i.e. graphs associated with the product of two functions of one variable, constitute a wide class of surfaces in differential geometry. Such surfaces in the pseudo-Galilean space with zero Gaussian and mean curvature were obtained in [2]. In this study, we provide new results relating to the factorable surfaces with non-zero constant Gaussian and mean curvature.
