Spectra of Interacting Electrons in a Quantum Dot: Quasi-Exact Solution
Eser Olgar,Hayriye Tutunculer,Ramazan Koc 한국물리학회 2004 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.45 No.1
We present a procedure to solve the Schrodinger equation of two interacting electrons in a quantum dot in the presence of an external magnetic field within the context of quasi-exactly-solvable spectral problems. We show that the symmetries of the Hamiltonian can be recovered for specific values of the magnetic field, which leads to an exact determination of the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. We show that the problem possesses a hidden sl2ကalgebraic structure.

( Eser Colak ),( Emel Ebru Ozcimen ),( Ozgur Hilal Erinanç ),( Yusuf Aytac Tohma ),( Mehmet Ufuk Ceran ) 대한산부인과학회 2020 Obstetrics & Gynecology Science Vol.63 No.4
Objective Several studies have examined biological markers during the first trimester to predict the maintenance of a healthy pregnancy. One such marker is kisspeptin, which is encoded by the KISS-1 gene. We aimed to determine whether firsttrimester pregnancy losses were associated with levels of placental KISS-1 expression. Methods This prospective case control study was conducted at a tertiary center. The study group included 27 and 24 patients who underwent dilation and curettage at <10 weeks of gestation, due to first trimester spontaneous pregnancy loss and for elective termination (control), respectively. Placental and decidual tissues from all patients were sectioned and immunohistochemically analyzed for kisspeptin. Results Age, gravida status, parity number, gestational week, and number of previous abortions did not significantly differ between the groups. KISS-1 expression levels were significantly lower in the group with spontaneous abortion compared with the group with elective termination. The median staining intensity of KISS-1 expression in the elective and spontaneous termination groups were 3 (strong) and 2 (moderate), respectively (P=0.004). KISS-1 expression levels were significantly lower among patients with previous abortions in the elective termination group (P=0.002). Conclusion KISS-1 expression levels were found to be significantly reduced in patients with spontaneous pregnancy loss; KISS-1 plays an important role in the implantation and continuation of pregnancy.
Soil structure interaction effects on strength reduction factors
Eser, Muberra,Aydemir, Cem,Ekiz, Lbrahim Techno-Press 2012 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.41 No.3
In this study, strength reduction factors are investigated for SDOF systems with period range of 0.1-3.0 s with elastoplastic behavior considering soil structure interaction for 64 different earthquake motions recorded on different site conditions such as rock, stiff soil, soft soil and very soft soil. Soil structure interacting systems are modeled and analyzed with effective period, effective damping and effective ductility values differing from fixed-base case. For inelastic time history analyses, Newmark method for step by step time integration was adapted in an in-house computer program. Results are compared with those calculated for fixed-base case. A new equation is proposed for strength reduction factor of interacting system as a function of structural period of system (T), ductility ratio (${\mu}$) and period lengthening ratio (T/T). It is concluded that soil structure interaction reduces the strength reduction factors for soft soils, therefore, using the fixed-base strength reduction factors for interacting systems lead to non-conservative design forces.
A study on heat capacity of oxide and nitride nuclear fuels by using Einstein-Debye approximation
Eser, E.,Duyuran, B.,Bolukdemir, M.H.,Koc, H. Korean Nuclear Society 2020 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.52 No.6
Knowledge on fuel enthalpy and its temperature derivative, the heat capacity, are important quantities in determination of fuel behavior in normal reactor operation and reactor transients. The aim of this study is to compare the heat capacity of oxide and nitrite fuels by using Einstein-Debye approximation. A simple analytical expression was performed to calculate the heat capacity of fuels. To test the validity and reliability, the calculated formulas were compared to published results for various nuclear fuels including UO2, ThO2, PuO2 and UN. Calculated formulas yielded results in consistent with literature.
Eser, E.,Koc, H.,Gokbulut, M.,Gursoy, G. Korean Nuclear Society 2014 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.46 No.6
The evaluation of thermal properties of actinide oxide fuels is a problem of high importance for the development of new generation reactors. In the present study, an expression obtained for n-dimensional Debye functions is used to derive a simple analytical expression for the specific heat capacity of nuclear fuels. To test the validity and reliability of this expression, the analytical expression is applied to $UO_2$, $NpO_2$, $ThO_2$, and $PuO_2$. It is seen that the formula was in agreement with the experimental and theoretical results reported in the literature.

Rotordynamic Coefficients in Staggered Labyrinth Seals
Eser, Dursun,Dereli, Yilmaz The Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers 2004 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.18 No.5
In this paper, the flow properties of staggered labyrinth seals are investigated. Leakage flowrates and pressure distributions are calculated for this seal. Then the dynamic stiffness and damping coefficients are calculated. The results are compared to the results of the some other papers.

Surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) is a method that enhances the mechanical properties of metallic materialsby generating a thin nanostructured layer on the top surface. In this study, single-shot impact behavior was modeled for the7075-T6 aluminum alloy to reach maximum values of equivalent stress, plastic strain, deformation depth, residual stressdepth, and residual stress. Finite element simulations have been carried out to analyze the efect of selected parameters onstress and strains in the component. For simulating the SMAT process, a rigid sphere on a rectangular component is modeledusing ANSYS/AUTODYN explicit dynamic solver. The plastic deformation process during SMAT was analyzed accordingto shot velocity and diameter with a dynamic explicit fnite element method (FEM). The response surface methodologywas used to evaluate the parametric results for the SMAT process. In addition, deformation behavior was evaluated after asingle-shot impact according to the restitution coefcient.
The effect of soil-structure interaction on inelastic displacement ratio of structures
Eser, Muberra,Aydemir, Cem Techno-Press 2011 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.39 No.5
In this study, inelastic displacement ratios and ductility demands are investigated for SDOF systems with period range of 0.1-3.0 s. with elastoplastic behavior considering soil structure interaction. Earthquake motions recorded on different site conditions such as rock, stiff soil, soft soil and very soft soil are used in analyses. Soil structure interacting systems are modeled with effective period, effective damping and effective ductility values differing from fixed-base case. For inelastic time history analyses, Newmark method for step by step time integration was adapted in an in-house computer program. Results are compared with those calculated for fixed-base case. A new equation is proposed for inelastic displacement ratio of interacting system ($\tilde{C}_R$) as a function of structural period of interacting system ($\tilde{T}$), strength reduction factor (R) and period lengthening ratio ($\tilde{T}/T$). The proposed equation for $\tilde{C}_R$ which takes the soil-structure interaction into account should be useful in estimating the inelastic deformation of existing structures with known lateral strength.
