Investigations of Work-Life Balance and Stress for Working Women in the Indonesian Banking Sector

Eka Suhartin,Mahfud Nurnadjamuddin,Mapparenta,Suriyanti 사람과세계경영학회 2023 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.28 No.-

Purpose: Workloads have substantial impacts on the working woman's identity. The banking sector also exhibits this trend with long working hours, commuting, and potential job stress. This study investigates the possible relationships between work-family conflict, social support toward work-life balance, and job stress from Indonesian female bankers. Design/methodology/approach: This study obtains data from 197 female workers in the banking sector in I ndonesia and constructs a hypothesized path model by maximizing the covariance-based structural-equation modelling with the Lisrel 10.2 software. Findings: This study reports dynamic results as work-family conflict does not contribute to work-life balance but toward job stress. Furthermore, social support is foundational for the work-life balance but not toward stress. The partial mediating effect is also reported. Research limitations/implications: This study's predictive power can get further upgrades from a wider participant across the industry. The comparison between genders can clarify this issue's advantages and disadvantages. The social peers' positive support may remedy the work-life balance issue; thus, firms must recognize this problem at their managerial discretion. Originality/value: This study extends the neglected conjoint effects of work-family conflict and social support to work-life balance, decreasing job stress among working women. The novel finding suggests the absence of conflict in the family-office relationships, indicating that work-life balance requires an update on the office-level policy.

Detection of Cardiovascular Disease Risk’s Level for Adults Using Naive Bayes Classifier

        Eka Miranda,Edy Irwansyah,Alowisius Y. Amelga,Marco M. Maribondang,Mulyadi Salim 대한의료정보학회 2016 Healthcare Informatics Research Vol.22 No.3

Objectives: The number of deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke is predicted to reach 23.3 million in 2030. As a contribution to support prevention of this phenomenon, this paper proposes a mining model using a naïve Bayes classifier that could detect cardiovascular disease and identify its risk level for adults. Methods: The process of designing the method began by identifying the knowledge related to the cardiovascular disease profile and the level of cardiovascular disease risk factors for adults based on the medical record, and designing a mining technique model using a naïve Bayes classifier. Evaluation of this research employed two methods: accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity calculation as well as an evaluation session with cardiologists and internists. The characteristics of cardiovascular disease are identified by its primary risk factors. Those factors are diabetes mellitus, the level of lipids in the blood, coronary artery function, and kidney function. Class labels were assigned according to the values of these factors: risk level 1, risk level 2 and risk level 3. Results: The evaluation of the classifier performance (accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity) in this research showed that the proposed model predicted the class label of tuples correctly (above 80%). More than eighty percent of respondents (including cardiologists and internists) who participated in the evaluation session agree till strongly agreed that this research followed medical procedures and that the result can support medical analysis related to cardiovascular disease. Conclusions: The research showed that the proposed model achieves good performance for risk level detection of cardiovascular disease.

Determination of the Boundary between Juvenile-Mature Wood of Diospyros kaki and Their Wood Anatomical Variations

        ( Eka Kartikawati ),( Bienitta ),( Fanany Wuri Prastiwi ),( Widyanto Dwi Nugroho ) 한국목재공학회 2024 목재공학 Vol.52 No.2

Persimmon wood (Diospyros kaki) is a seasonal fruit-producing plant with a beautiful dark pattern in its wood that is suitable for high-quality furniture, sculptures and musical instruments. The utilization of persimmon wood can be improved by determining its anatomical characteristics, such as juvenile and mature wood. This study aimed to determine the boundaries between juvenile and mature wood and observe the anatomical properties of juvenile and mature wood and their variations in the axial direction. Three 30-year-old persimmon (D. kaki) trees grown in Karo, North Sumatra, Indonesia, were used in this study. The boundary between juvenile and mature wood was determined by measuring the fiber length and vessel element length from near the pith to near the bark. Anatomical observations were conducted in the juvenile and mature wood areas. The results showed that the average boundaries between juvenile and mature wood were 44.11 mm from the pith and were not significantly different in the axial direction of the trees. Furthermore, the wood anatomy categories of juvenile and mature wood differed significantly in terms of fiber diameter, fiber proportion, vessel proportion, and axial parenchyma proportion. In the axial direction, vessel diameter, ray parenchyma frequency, and ray parenchyma proportion at the base, middle, and top of the tree were significantly different.

Negotiated Feedback, Situated Recast and Task-Supported Language Instruction on the Development of Grammatical Features

Eka Fadilah,Utami Widiati,Mirjam Anugerahwati 아시아영어교육학회 2021 The Journal of Asia TEFL Vol.18 No.4

This study aimed at investigating the effects of Task-Supported Language Instruction (TSLI) and two oral corrective feedbacks i.e., situated recast (SR) and negotiated feedback (NF) on the learners’ development of grammatical features: be-passive voice. We utilized a quasi-experimental design on four intact-class encompassing 127 third-semester EFL learners assigned to one control group and three experimental groups. A mixed-design repeated measure analysis of variance (RM-ANOVA) was applied to gauge the development of both individuals within the groups and the comparisons between groups. The finding reveals that there is no significant development between pre and post-test depicted in the control group. By contrast, there is a significant development from pre to post-test in the experimental groups in which TSLI + NF has the largest effect sizes of TSLI + SR as well as TSLI-only group. Furthermore, TSLI + SR and TSLI + NF provided a longer-term effect than TSLI group on both tests explicated in the delayed test. We interpret these findings as showing that a dynamic explicit-implicit oral corrective feedback embedded in the explicit instruction provide more potent than those task only and control group on the learners’ development of be-passive voice.

Influence of Exchange Rate, World Income, Interest Rates, and Investments in Indonesian Exports

Eka SUDARUSMAN,Tri Utomo PRASETYO,Suparmono SUPARMONO,Anna PARTINA 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.6

This study aims to test the influence of world income, interest rates, and investments on Indonesian exports for the period from 1986 to 2018. We use the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model with Error Correction Mechanism (ECM) version, which can provide long-term impact analysis and short-term dynamic results. The results showed that, in the short run, exchange rate, world income, and investments, respectively, positively affect Indonesian exports, ceteris paribus. These results correspond to the proposed hypotheses. Meanwhile, interest rates also show a positive influence on Indonesian exports in the short run, ceteris paribus, but this direction does not correspond to the research hypotheses. The research also found that there is cointegration between variables. Indonesian export value adjusts the exchange rate, world income, interest rates, and investments with delay, which is a 30.93% difference in long-term and short-term export values corrected. In the long run, world income and investment have a positive effect on exports. This indicates that multinational companies do not solely invest to dominate the domestic market, but they also promote Indonesian exports. Following the results of this research, the increase in FDI will grow exports. Increased exports will certainly increase GDP and ultimately promote economic growth.

Eka Listiani KARTONO,Innocentius BERNARTO,Niko SUDIBJO,Rudy PRAMONO 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.6

Many researchers have studied the relationship between transformational leadership influence and organizational innovation; however, they have only shown inconclusive results. With task-oriented synergistic cooperation goal-oriented synergistic interaction as a mediating variable, the goal objective of this study was to fill the research gap between transformational leadership influence and organizational innovation. Data was collected through online electronic questionnaires using Likert Scales. This study used a census method, where the sample was all general insurance companies in Indonesia; hence, it can represent the general insurance industry. It involved 72 respondents, representing 72 general insurance companies that were actively operating in Indonesia in 2021. This research results offered crucial implications about the organizational interaction in the emerging market of the insurance industry, such as Indonesia. The survey responses were analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) in Partial Least Square. This study found that transformational leadership positively influences organizational innovation. Then, the goal-oriented synergistic interaction has positively mediated transformational leadership influence and organizational innovation. Finally, goal-oriented synergistic interaction has a positive effect on organizational innovation. This study proposes an interaction among employees under influence of transformational leaders to achieve both explorative and exploitative innovation. Hence, leader practitioners can use the findings of this study to create synergistic interaction among followers to attain organizational innovation.
