The investigation was aimed to study effects of Shirhyung-tang extract and Kamishirhyung-tang extract on the diuretic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and the injuried kidney induced by HgCl₂. The extract was administered to the experimental animals. The following results have been obtained. Duiretic effect was noted to be significant in extracts of Shirhyung-tang and Kamishirhyung-tang. Antipyretic effect was noted to be significant according to the density of Shirhyung-tang and Kamishirhyung-tang. Anti-inflammatory effect was noted to be significant in extract of Shirhyung-tang and Kamishirhyung-tang. Analgesic effect was noted to be significant in extracts of Shirhyung-tang and Kamishirhyung-tang.
An Integrated QoS Support Architecture for Wireless Home Network Based on IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN

In this paper, to support a QoS level appropriate to the user in Wireless Home Network based Wireless LAN, we propose a QoS support architecture which includes Wired Network and Wireless Network. Actually, an important problem to support QoS in Wireless Home Network is approached not only on a MAC level in Wireless LAN but also on a integrated method to combine Network layer with Datalink layer. By applying the integrated QoS support method, it is possible to provide QoS support architecture using a Wireless LAN terminal with a minimum changing, and the proposed scheme has advantage of QoS support method, which is more superior than a existing scheme to support QoS in MAC level of Wireless LAN. Simulations results show that overall performance of the proposed scheme can be improved.
Characteristics of Pt-Ru Catalyst Supported on Activated Carbon for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell

The Pt-Ru/Carbon as an anode catalyst supported on the commercial activated carbon (AC) having high surface area and micropore was characterized for application of Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC). The Pt-Ru/AC anode catalyst used in this experiment showed the performance of 600 mA/cm2 current density at 0.3 V. The borohydride reduction process using NaBH4, denoted as a process A, showed much higher current and power densities than process B prepared by changing the reduction and washing process of process A. The particle sizes are strongly affected by the reduction process than the specific surface area of raw active carbon and the sizes are almost constant when the specific surface area of carbon are over than the 1200 m2/g. Smaller particle size of catalyst and more narrow intercrystalite distance increased the performance of DMFC.

To see clinical characteristics of Korean acromegalics, 27 acromegalic patients admitted to SNUH from 1979 to Sep 1984 were studied. The results are as follows: 1) The mean age of acromegaly was 45, and male to female ratro was 1: 2. 2) The common clinical manifestations were acral and soft tissue enlargement (93%), excessive sweating (70%), headache (56%), voice change (48%), and arthralgia (41%), and 41% of the patients also had clinical diabetes mellitus. 3) The common plain X-ray findings were positive heel pad sign (86%) and enlarged sella (81%). 4) In 19 cases who took brain CT, there were 13 cases (68%) of macroadenomas and 2cases (11%) of microadenomas. 5) In all patients basal GH levels were elevated above 5ng/ml and hyperprolactinemia was detected in 32% of the acromegalics. 6) GTT-GH test, TRH stimulation test, and bromocriptine suppression test was positive in 100%, 67%, and 100% of the patients, respectively. 7) The cure rate of surgical treatment was 17%.
