대전대학교 일대 용운동지역은 해발 130m-317m로서 지리적으로는 북위 36° 19′ 30″-36° 21′ 30″, 동경 127° 27′ 30″-127° 28′ 30″에 위치하며, 남쪽으로는 식장산, 북쪽으로는 계족산이 위치한다. 1998년 4월부터 2001년 5월까지 본 지역의 관속식물을 채집 ? 조사한 결과 조사지역내에 분포하는 관속식물은 1문, 2아문, 4강, 35목, 94과, 291속, 431종, 1아종, 73변종, 10품종, 2잡종 등 총 517분류군으로 나타났다. 조사지역내 우리나라 특산식물은 4과, 6속 등 총 6분류군으로 조사지역내 분포하는 517분류군중 약 1.16%에 이르며, Polygonatum lasianthum var, coreanum Nakai, Forsythia koeana Nakai, Syringa dilatata Nakai, Paulownia coreana Uyeki, Sambucus latipinna Nakai, Weigela subsessilis L.H Bailey이다 . 또한 귀화식물은 17과, 38속, 44종, 2변종 등 총 46분류군으로 조사지역내 전체 출현종 517분류군의 8.9%에 달하며, 우리나라 전체 귀화식물종 177분류군의 26%이다. The investigated area including Daejeon Universi쇼 is 130 - 317 meter above the sea level and located at 3” 19’ 30” - 36“21‘ 30” N in latitude, at 127‘ 27’ 30” - 127' 28' 30" E in longitude, and on the northern border of Mt. Shikjangsan and on the southbound of Mt. Gyejoksan, Daejeon. The results of vascular plant collection and their investigation from April in 1998 to May in 2001 are as follows: The vascular plants collected and investigated consist of total 517 taxa; 2 hybrids, 10 forms, 73 varieties, 1 subspecies. 431 species, 291 genera, 94 families, 35 orders, 4 classes, 2 subphyla. In this area the Korean endemic plants are 6 taxa (1.16% among total 517 taxa): Polygonaturn Iasianthum var. coreanum Nakai, Forsythia koreana Nakai, Syringa dilatata Nakai, Paulownia coreana Uyeki, Sambucus latipinna Nakai and Weigela subsessilis L.H. Bailey. Also. the naturalized plants are 46 taxa (8.9% among total 521 taxa and 26% among the total naturalized plants in Korea).

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract caused by high levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines and epithelial barrier dysfunction. <I>Alnus japonica</I> Steud. (Betulaceae) has been used in traditional Asian medicine. However, the potential of <I>A. japonica</I> for the treatment of intestinal inflammation has not been investigated. This study investigated the effects of ethanol extract from <I>A. japonica</I> bark (AJE) on colonic mucosa injury in mice with dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis. Treatment with AJE ameliorated pathological damage and the histopathologic features of DSS-induced colitis. The administration of AJE also inhibits DSS-induced pro-inflammatory cytokines expression, including interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and cyclooxygenase (COX)-2. Notably, AJE administration attenuated the reduction of tight junction proteins, zonula occludens (ZO)-1 and occludin, in DSS-induced colitis. In addition, AJE increased heme oxygenase (HO)-1 expression and prevented DSS-induced apoptosis in colonic epithelial cells. Furthermore, <I>in vitro</I> studies demonstrated that AJE inhibits TNF-α-induced IL-8, IL-1β, and COX-2 expression in human intestinal epithelial HT-29 cells and <I>tert</I>-butyl hydroperoxide-induced reduction of ZO-1 and occludin expression in human intestinal epithelial Caco-2 cells. AJE-induced HO-1 protein expression was also found in both HT-29 and Caco-2 cells. Taken together, our findings demonstrated that AJE inhibits intestinal inflammation and protects against intestinal barrier disruption in mice with DSS-induced colitis <I>in vivo</I> and human intestinal epithelial cells <I>in vitro</I>. 실험연구 : 마우스에서 Procaine 투여에 의한 Cisplatin 신독성의 완화 기전

Background: Procaine binds to DNA and reduces cisplatin nephrotoxicity, but the mechanism is poorly understood. We explored whether procaine amelioration of cisplatin nephrotoxicity was related to down-and/or up-regulation of inflammatory response gene tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), oxidative stress indicator gene heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) or cell cycle inhibitor gene p21. Methods: Cisplatin and procaine were intraperitoneally injected to mice at a single dosage of 16 and 80 mg/kg, respectively. Renal evaluation was performed 72 hours after cisplatin administration. The expression of transcripts and proteins was analyzed using real time RT-PCR and Western blot, respectively. Results: Procaine treatment moderately attenuated necrotic changes of renal proximal tubules and increases in BUN and creatinine concentration by cisplatin administration. Kidney platinum level between the cisplatin (cis) group and the cisplatin + procaine (CisPro) group was not different. Although the level of TNF-α mRNA increased 4-fold higher in the Cis group than in the control, this increase was not attenuated by procaine treatment. Gene expression of p21 and HO-1 was elevated 175 and 4-times higher in the Cis group than in the control, respectively. But their expression was no further elevated, rather significantly reduced in the CisPro group compared to the Cis group. Protein abundance of p21 and HO-1 was paralleled by their respective mRNA expression. Conclusions: Procaine amelioration of cisplatin nephrotoxicity is likely to be achieved through processes other than the regulation of TNF-α, HO-1 or p21 gene expression. Sulforaphane protects against acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Oxidative stress is closely associated with acetaminophen (APAP)-induced toxicity. Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), an antioxidant defense enzyme, has been shown to protect against oxidant-induced tissue injury. This study investigated whether sulforaphane (SFN), as a HO-1 inducer, plays a protective role against APAP hepatotoxicity <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I>. Pretreatment of primary hepatocyte with SFN induced nuclear factor E2-factor related factor (Nrf2) target gene expression, especially HO-1 mRNA and protein expression, and suppressed APAP-induced glutathione (GSH) depletion and lipid peroxidation, which eventually leads to hepatocyte cell death. A comparable effect was observed in mice treated with APAP. Mice were treated with 300 mg/kg APAP 30 min after SFN (5 mg/kg) administration and were then sacrificed after 6 h. APAP alone caused severe liver injuries as characterized by increased plasma AST and ALT levels, GSH depletion, apoptosis, and 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE) formations. This APAP-induced liver damage was significantly attenuated by pretreatment with SFN. Furthermore, while hepatic reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels were increased by APAP exposure, pretreatment with SFN completely blocked ROS formation. These results suggest that SFN plays a protective role against APAP-mediated hepatotoxicity through antioxidant effects mediated by HO-1 induction. SFN has preventive action in oxidative stress-mediated liver injury.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> SFN pretreatment increases the cell viability against APAP-induced toxicity. </LI> <LI> SFN pretreatment protects depletion of cellular GSH after APAP treatment. </LI> <LI> SFN pretreatment enhances Nrf2 target gene expression, especially HO-1 after APAP treatment. </LI> <LI> SFN has protective effect against APAP overdose-induced liver injury <I>in vivo</I> model as well. </LI> </UL> </P>

연구목적 : 본 시험의 목적은 임상시험 시작전에 연구자들을 대상으로 PANSS Workshop을 통하여 PANSS, ESRS에 대한 국내에서의 표준화 작업을 구축하고 새로운 정신병 치료제인 리스페리돈의 효과와 안정성을 재확인하여 리스페리돈 사용에 대한 적정화를 이루는데 있다. 연구방법 : 1996년 4월부터 1996년 9월까지 국내 39개 대학병원 정신과에 입원중인 혹은 증상이 악화되어 입원하는 정신분열병 환자 377명을 대상으로 다시설 개방 연구를 시행하였다. 1주일간의 약물 배설기간을 가진후, 리스페리돈을 8주간 투여하였고, 기준점, 1주, 2주, 4주, 그리고 8주후에 평가되었다. 용량은 제1일에는 리스페리돈 1mg씩 1일 2회, 제2일에는 2mg씩 1일 2회, 제3∼7일에는 3mg씩 1일 2회 투여하였다. 이후 환자의 임상상태에 따라 임의로 증량할 수 있으며, 최대 일일 16mg을 초과하지 않도록 하였다. 추체외로 증상을 조절하기 위한 투약을 허용하였다. 임상증상 및 부작용의 평가는 PANSS(Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale), CGI(Clinical Global Impression) 그리고 ESRS(Extrapyramidal Symptom Rating Scale)을 사용하였다. 연구결과 : 377명중 343명(91%)이 8주간의 연구를 완결하였다. 치료 종결시점인 8주후 PANSS 총점수가 20% 이상 호전된 경우를 약물 반응군으로 정의할때, 약물반응군은 81.3%였다. 리스페리돈에 반응하는 예측인자로는 발병연령, 이전의 입원 횟수, 유병기간이 관련 있었다. 리스페리돈은 1주후부터 PANSS양성, 음성, 및 일반정신병리 점수상에 유의한 호전을 보여 효과가 빨랐다. CGI의 경우도 기준점에 비해 1주후부터 유의한 감소를 나타내었다. ESRS의 경우, 파킨슨 평가점수는 기준점과 비교해 투여 1주, 2주, 4주후 유의하게 증가되었다가 8주후 기준점과 차이가 없었다. Dystonia 평가점수는 1주후만 유의한 증가를 보였으며, dyskinesia 평가점수는 유의한 차이가 없었다. 혈압, 맥박수의 생명징후 및 일반 혈액학 검사, 생화학적 검사, 심전도 검사에서 유의한 변화는 없었다. 결 론 : 이상의 다시설 개방 임상 연구를 통해 리스페리돈은 정신분열병 환자에서 양성증상뿐만 아니라 음성증상 및 전반적인 증상에도 효과적인 것으로 사료된다. 보다 명확한 평가를 위해서는 다른 항정신병약물과의 이중맹검 연구가 필요할 것으로 생각되며, 또한 장기적 치료에 대한 평가도 함께 이루어져야 하겠다. Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of risperidone in the treatment of Korean schizophrenic patients. Method : This multicenter open study included 377 schizophrenic patients drawn from 39 university hospitals. After a wash-out period of 1 week, the schizophrenic patients were treated with risperidone for 8 weeks and evaluated at 5 points ; at baseline, and 1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks of treatment. The dose was increased from 2mg/day(1mg twice daily) to 6mg/day(3mg twice daily) during the first week and adjusted to a maximum of 16mg/day over the next 7 weeks according to the patient's clinical response. Medication to control extrapyramidal symptoms was permitted. The psychiatric and neurological status of the patients was assessed by PANSS, CGI, and ESRS scales. Results : 343(91%) of 377 patients completed the 8-week trial period. Clinical improvement, as defined by a 20% or more reduction in total PANSS score at end point, was shown by 81.3% of patients. The predictors of response to risperidone were associated older age, shorter duration of illness, fewer previous hospitalization. Risperidone had rapid onset of action ; a significant decrease of the total PANSS and three PANSS factor(positive, negative, general), and CGI was already noticed at the end of first week. For the ESRS, parkinsonism rating scores were significantly increased until week 4 comparing with baseline. Dystonia rating scores were significantly increased until week 1, and dyskinesia rating scores were not significantly changed during the study. Laboratory parameters including vital sign, EKG, hematological, and biochemical values showed no significant changes during the trial. Conclusions : This study suggests that risperidone is generally safe and effective against both the positive and negative symptoms in our group of patients.
열처리 효과에 따른 PbMoO₄단결정의 전기 전도도와 광 흡수스펙트럼의 변화

PbMoO₄단결정의 전기전도도와 그 열처리 효과를 조사하였다. PbMoO₄단결정의 전기전도도는 저온 영역에서는 산소결함으로 인한 이온 확산이 지배적이었으며, 고온에서는 전자 기여에 의한 효과가 크게 나타났다. 그리고 산소분위기에서 열처리한 시료는 열처리 시간이 증가함에 따라 흡수단 근방의 장파장 영역에서 흡수율이 증가 하였다. The electrical conductivity of PbMoO₄single crystals and it's annealing effect were investigated. From the experiment, we conclude that oxygen vacancies are responsible for electical conductivities in low termperature region. But in high temperature, ac conductivity caused by electronic behavior increases rapidly with temperature increases. The absorption coefficient of PbMoO₄annealed in the oxygen atmosphere increases with time in the long wavelength regions above the absorption edges.

Background: Premalignant lesions has recently continuously increased in Koreans. However, there has been little research into the distribution and incidence of cutaneous premalignant lesions in the south-eastern part of korea Objectives: To analyze recent trends in incidence and clinical patterns of cutaneous premalignant lesions in Busan city and the eastern Gyeongnam province Methods: We reviewed 1,292 cases (3,651 lesions) of cutaneous premalignant lesions that include actinic keratosis (AK) and bowen’s disease (BD) at the Department of Dermatology in Dong-A University Hospital Results: The average annual incidence of cutaneous premalignant lesions among total outpatients was 1.82% and has continuously increased from 0.70% to 4.25% over the last 19 years. The most common cutaneous premalignant lesionwas AK (75.85%), followed by BD (24.15%). The mean age of onset was 68.76 years. A major skin cancer was found in 15.79% of patients with cutaneous premalignant lesions, including SCC (11.54%), BCC (6.09%), and malignant melanoma (0.64%). Additionally, 59.13% of the patients had a single lesion, while 40.87% had multiple lesions. Age, occupation-related exposure to ultraviolet radiation, and a past history of skin cancer were higher in the patients with multiple lesions than single lesion Conclusion: The incidence of cutaneous premalignant lesions has gradually increased in Busan city and the eastern Gyeongnam Province, which was relatively higher than incidence in other areas
반복적인 경련을 동반한 아이소니아지드(Isoniazid) 중독환자의 치험 1례

Isoniazid(Isonicotinic acid hydrazide) is an antimicrobial drug used since 1952 as a first line agent for the prophylaxis and treatment of tuberculosis. Isoniazid is well known for problems in population having a high prevalence of isoniazid use for prophylaxis or treatment of tuberculosis. But intentional or accidental isoniazid overdose is uncommon. The ingestion of toxic amounts of isoniazid causes recurrent seizures, profound metabolic acidosis, coma and even death. In adults, toxicity can occur with the acute ingestion of as little as 1.5g of isoniazid. Doses larger than 30mg per kg often produce seizures. When ingested in amounts of 80-150mg per kg or more, isoniazid can be rapid fatal. 40-year-old woman having previous pulmonary tuberculosis ingested 7gram of isoniazid(140mg/kg) to attempt suicide approximately 30 minutes prior to visit to our emergency medical center. She had recurrent generalized tonicclonic seizures and metabolic acidosis. We report one patient treated with pyridoxine, which was equivalent to the amount of isoniazid ingested and administered as a intravenous dose and oral dose

The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the fatigue test data of pavement concrete. The static strength tests were carried out to check the compressive strength, flexural strength, and split tension strength at 56 days in order to minimize strength variation effect during test. The specimens were fabricated at twelves sections at a construction site of highway The stress level and stress ratio of fatigue test were determined from static test results The results are as follow: The flexural strength at 28 days mostly satisfied the critenon for design, but the compressive strength at 28 days were slightly below the critenon even though it satisfied at 56 days. The fatigue limit was 2 million cycles if the specimen was not faded to that cycles. The S-N curves were developed from the fatigue test results at each stress levels and each stress ratio. Then. the fatigue life of pavement concrete at a given stress level and fatigue strength of pavement concrete could be derived from these curves Analysis using method No2 was more acceptable because resulting of comparison and analysis using method No2 was presented 2 sections were presented R^2 < 0 7 , and other 2 sections were presented 0.7 < R^2 < 0 8. and the others 8 sections were R^2 0 8
