Generating a novel human action image is an interesting research problem in the study of generative adversarial networks (GANs). There is interesting model named fusionGAN that generates a fusion image with the identity of input image x and the shape of input image y. I show that fusionGAN is suitable for generating a novel human action image by manipulating two input images, human full-body image and human skeleton image. In this study, I show qualitative results on the CAD-60 dataset.

A brain tumor is a mass, or lump in the brain which is caused when brain cells divide and grow in an uncontrolled way. Brain tumor surgery may be difficult, but it is also incredibly important. So Detection of tumor is important to make a diagnosis and treat of the disease. Recently, AI would be able to get higher accuracy than a medical image judged by a doctor. In this paper, a model with the best efficiency is proposed in brain tumor detection and Mask R-CNN training and test using enhanced Mask R-CNN by combining group normalization and U-Net. This paper uses brain tumor data from Medical Segmentation decathlon 2018. The results of the proposed Mask R-CNN showed that the brain MRI image was bound boxed in areas containing brain tumors, carefully masking the brain tumor. When using group normalization and U-Net, the dice coefficient is 0.8196. When not using group normalization and U-Net, the dice coefficient is 0.7749, which confirms that the former model has a high average accuracy.

Various benefits for the maintenance of metabolic homeostasis can be obtained through dietary restriction. Short-term fasting of mice may induce systemic metabolic remodeling, which may have a significant effect on the level of endogenous metabolites. This study was conducted to examine metabolic changes of sulfur-containing substances in the kidneys of fasted mice over 48 h. No change in the concentration of renal methionine was observed over 48 h; however, significant decreases in the concentrations of S-adenosylmethionine and S-adenosylhomocysteine were observed at both 24 and 48 h after fasting. A significant decrease in the concentration of renal cysteine was observed from 24 h, and this was maintained at 48 h. A significant decrease in the concentration of glutathione (GSH) was observed in the kidney at 48 h, whereas increased concentrations of taurine were observed 48 h after fasting. Although significantly increased expression levels of BHMT were observed, markedly decreased expression levels of CβS were observed at 48 h after fasting, indicating activated generation of methionine, but downregulation of cysteine synthesis. The expression level of γ-GCL was not altered by fasting for 48 h; however, a significant increase of cysteine sulfinate decarboxylase mediating the taurine synthesis was observed. Significantly decreased protein expression levels of solute carrier family 7 member 11, which imports extracellular cystine, were observed at 48 h. These results suggest that the renal methionine concentration was maintained during short-term fasting through an increase in the re-methylation of homocysteine. Moreover, a reduction in the concentration of cysteine was the result of an increase in the synthesis of taurine and a decrease in the uptake of extracellular cystine, which may result in a decreased concentration of renal GSH.

모성에 주목하여 본 마녀 캐릭터의 서사적 정체성 -영화 <말레피센트>, <크루엘라>, <블랙 위도우>를 대상으로

영화 <말레피센트>, <크루엘라>, <블랙 위도우>는 모두 원작에서 마녀였던 캐릭터에 주목하여 이들에게 독립적인 서사를 부여하는 방식으로 개작되었다. 영화 속 캐릭터들은 마녀의 이미지와 곧장 연결되는 것은 아니지만 이 캐릭터들이 가지고 있는 존재적, 관계적 속성은 중세유럽의 마녀와 통하는 면이 있다. 마녀사냥에 희생당한 이들은 사회적 약자로서 기존 질서에 편입되기 힘든 속성을 가졌기에 마녀로서 규정당한 존재들이다. 우리가 흔히 마녀의 이미지로 떠올리는 것은 이러한 배경에서 대중문화적으로 만들어진 것일 뿐 실재하는 실체라고 보기는 어렵다. 이런 맥락에서 세 영화가 주목한 인물들은 실제로 마법을 행하거나 빗자루를 타고 다니는 모습으로 그려지지는 않았지만 충분히 마녀적 속성을 가진다고 보았다. 세 영화의 주인공 말레피센트, 크루엘라, 블랙 위도우는 거세당한 여성으로서의 존재적 속성을 갖는다. 이들이 가진 능력치나 기존 질서에 편입되기 힘든 성격적 면들은 세상에 위협이 될 만한 것이었기에 기존 지배 집단에 불안을 야기하였다. 이로 인해 이들 캐릭터는 날개를 잘리고, 본래 자신의 정체를 숨겨야 했으며, 자궁을 적출당한 채 대상화된 신체로서 존재했던 것이다. 이러한 이들의 존재성은 곧 세상으로부터의 배제라는 관계적 속성으로 이어지며, 이를 극복하는 과정에서 모성이 개입하면서 말레피센트와 크루엘라, 블랙 위도우가 각각 만들어가는 서사는 잃어버린 모성을 추구하고 극복하는 방향으로 구축되었다. 이는 세 인물이 작품 속에서 주로 관계 맺는 인물이 원작과는 확연하게 달라진 배경에 기인하는데, 이로 인해 기존의 마녀 개념에서는 찾아볼 수 없었던 모성이나 수호자 정체성이 이 캐릭터에 부여되었다. ‘마녀’란 ‘자신의 길을 가려고 하는 오해 받는 여성’의 다른 이름일 뿐이었다. 그런 관점에서 세 작품의 여성 캐릭터는 마녀의 존재적 속성을 갖고 있는데, 여기에 새로운 서사를 부여하는 작업이 모성 추구의 방향에서 구축되었다는 점에서 세 작품이 동일 범주에 있다고 보게 된 것이다. 여전히 소외자, 배제자로서 자신의 정체성을 인식하면서도 소속감의 욕구를 내재한 채 자신의 길을 가려고 하는 모순된 존재로서의 마녀 캐릭터는 기존 세상의 질서에 대한 시각의 확장을 추동한다. 앞으로는 마녀라는 이미지와 이름으로 규정된 존재가 아닌 온전한 주체로서 자신의 이야기를 들려주는 다양한 여성 캐릭터들이 등장할 것으로 기대해 본다. The movies Maleficent, Cruella, and Black Widow were all reworkings of earlier films that focused on characters who were witch-like in the original but were given independent narratives. These characters are not directly connected to the image of a witch. However, their existential and relational properties are connected with the witches of medieval Europe. The victims of witch-hunting were the socially underprivileged, who were called witches because of the difficulty in incorporating them into the existing order. What we often think of as the image of a witch is an image in popular culture that is difficult to see in reality. In this context, the characters on whom the three films are focused are not portrayed as actually performing magic or riding a broomstick, but they had enough witchy attributes. Their main characters have existential attributes of castrated women. Their abilities and personalities are difficult to incorporate into the existing order and could pose a threat to the world, causing anxiety to the existing ruling group. Because of this, these characters had their wings cut off, had to hide their original identities, and existed as objectified bodies with their uterus removed. Their existence leads to the relational attribute of exclusion from the world, and as motherhood intervenes in the process of overcoming this, the narratives in Maleficent, Cruella, and Black Widow create the direction to pursue and overcome a lost motherhood. The background to this is that the relationship between the three characters is markedly different from the original. This gave them a maternal or guardian identity not found in traditional witch characters. “Witch” was just another name for “a misunderstood woman trying to go her own way.” From that point of view, the female characters in these three movies have the existential attribute of a witch. Based on this, new narratives were built in the direction of pursuing motherhood. The three works came to be seen as being in the same category. The witch character, as a contradictory being who still tries to go her own way but possesses a desire to belong while recognizing her identity as alienated and excluded, experiences the expansion of her perspective on the existing world order. In the future, we can expect various female characters to appear who tell their stories as a whole rather than a being defined by the image and name of a witch.
