This study on the characteristics of the tidal current at the half closed bay selected Sachoˇn Bay located in the western Kyung-nam area as the object location of the study. Then, I analyzed the current with the varying dredging depth after the depth integral of the three Dimensional continuous equation and Navier-stokes equation. The study would get the following results, and the results could be used meamingfully as the analysis material about the dredging depth's influnce on the surrounding ocean when developing the coastal port. 1. When measuring the tidal current, there is a bit dispersion in the current direction of the observed object, but it is the wind effect at the bay. Considering that the calculated result is the shallow-water equation integranted in depth, the results can be concluded to in accored with my expectancy. 2. In case of reclaiming and dredging, the flow velocity and direciton change constantly, compared with the present condition. 3. At the wide bay dredge depth does not arrect the level of the ocean, but in case of inflow from the flood, the increase of the inflow of the river water affects the level of the ocean. 4. As the dredge depth grows deep, the maximum flood tidal current and obb tidal current at the front coast of the reclaimed decreases a little. However, the wide area Pc-7~Pc-9 doesn't show any change. As we saw in the above result, feacturcs of the tidal current as the level of the ocean and the current velocity don't change in the aspect of the ocean engineering even if we increase the degree of the dredge depth up to 6m in Sachoˇn Bay

본 연구에 목적으로는 중온수 흡수식 냉동기의 재생기 내부에 삽입되는 전열관 특성에 따라 성능 변화를 파악하고자 한다. 재생기 내부에 흐르는 흡수액 및 냉매는 LiBr와 물을 사용하였으며, 흡수액 농도 55%일 때 기준으로 실험하였다. 실험과정은 흡수액 입구와 출구 그리고 재생기 내부에 흐르는 냉매 입구, 출구 온도를 측정하였다. 또한 재생기 내부 압력과 냉매 유량 및 흡수액 유량을 측정 하였으며, 측정 프로그램으로는 Labview를 사용하였다.본 연구에 목적인 전열관 종류에 따라 실험을 진행하였으며 동일한 실험 조건에서 각각의 전열관 총열전달계수 파악하여 흡수식 냉동기 성능 향상에 필요한 전열관을 파악하고자 한다. The objective of this study is to investigate the changes of the performance of a hot water absorption chiller as influenced by the characteristics of the heating tubes inserted in its generator. The absorbent and the refrigerant flowing inside the generator are LiBr and water, respectively. The experiments were done based on a 55% absorbent concentration. In the experiments, the inlet and outlet temperatures of the absorbent and the inlet and outlet temperature of the refrigerant in the generator are measured. Also, the pressure of the generator and the flow rate of the refrigerant and the absorbent we measured. A Labview program was used for the measurements. Tests were conducted on different types of heating tubes using the same experimental conditions and the values of the overall heat transfer coefficient are determined. With this, the type of heating tubes that results to the improvement of the performance of the absorption chiller can be identified.
Design of binder-free phosphor paste for warm white LEDs

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Cerium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG: Ce) is used to convert blue light which is emitted from InGaN-based LED chip for white light. In this study, the phosphor paste was prepared using monodispersed spherical YAG: Ce phosphor synthesized by co-precipitation based on one-pot synthesis. Also, orange-red emitting Sr<SUB>2</SUB>Si<SUB>5</SUB>N<SUB>8</SUB>:Eu<SUP>2+</SUP> (SSN: Eu) phosphor was added to confirm the change in optical characteristics. Alpha terpineol was used as a paste solvent because it enabled easy screen-printing. Phosphor paste films for optoelectronic devices were prepared by coating on a glass substrate using a doctor blade method. We compared the conversion efficacy, color rendering index (CRI), and correlated color temperature (CCT) of YAG: Ce which is added to various amounts of SSN: Eu. We measured scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images to confirm the difference of porosity between, depending on binder addition.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> We fabricated phosphor paste without binding for white LEDs. </LI> <LI> Binder-free phosphor paste was fabricated, which is must be improved fill the pore for luminous efficiency. </LI> <LI> We believe that our results will become applications of warm white LEDs. </LI> </UL> </P>
한국인에서 Adult Onset Still`s Disease의 임상상과 예후 인자에 관한 연구

Objective: This study was undertaken to review the disease course, clinical and laboratory manifestations, prognosis and treatment of adult onset Still`s disease (AOSD) in Korea. Methods: Thirty-two patients with AOSD were enrolled from 1986 to 1997 in Hanyang University Hospital. Diagnosis of AOSD was based on the criteria proposed by Yamaguchi. We classified the disease course into self-limited, intermittent, or chronic disease course. Results: Twenty-four (75%) patients were female. Skin rash occurred in 28 (88%) patients, lymphadenopathy in 8 (25%), hepatomegaly in 4 (13%), and pericarditis in 2 (6%) out of 32 patients. The most commonly affected joints were knee joints (88%). Elevated LDH was seen in 18 (60%) patients and decreased CK in 17 (61%) patients. Rheumatoid factor was detected in 4 (13%) patients and ANA in 12(38%) patients. Anemia (Hb<10 g/dL) was seen in 13 (41%) patients and hypoalbuminemia (<3.5 g/dL) in 14 (52%) patients. Elevated ferritin (≥300 ng/mL) level was seen in 23 (79%) patients. Twenty-five (78%) patients had elevated serum transaminase. Bone marrow studies were performed in 16 patients. Nine out of 16 patients showed hyperplasia of the myeloid series and 2 patients displayed the features of a hemophagocytic syndrome. The mean duration of follow up of 32 patients was 32 months (range 3-108). Eight (27%) patients had a self-limited, 9 (30%) an intermittent, and 13 (43%) a chronic disease course. The hypoalbuminemia was significantly associated with an intermittent or chronic disease group(p<0.05). Thirty-two patients received systemic corticosteroids and 21 patients received single or combination of disease modifying antirheumatic drugs. Conclusion: We found that hypoalbuminemia at presentation was significantly associated with an unfavorable outcome, intermittent or chronic disease group. The clinical manifestations and disease course of AOSD in Korea were similar to those previously reported in other countries except significantly lower incidence of lymphadenopathy, hepatomegaly, and pericarditis.
Transglutaminase 2 inhibition found to induce p53 mediated apoptosis in renal cell carcinoma

<P>Renal cell carcinoma (RCC), the predominant form of kidney cancer, is characterized by high resistance to radiation and chemotherapy. This study shows that expression of protein cross-linking enzyme transglutaminase 2 (TGase 2) is markedly increased in 7 renal cell carcinoma (RCC) cell lines in comparison to HEK293 and other cancer cell lines, such as NCI 60. However, the key role of TGase 2 in RCC was not clear. The down-regulation of TGase 2 was found to stabilize p53 expression, thereby inducing a 3- to 10-fold increase in apoptosis for 786-O, A498, CAKI-1, and ACHN cell lines by DAPI staining. MEF cells from TGase 2<SUP>−/−</SUP> mice showed stabilized p53 under apoptotic stress to compare to MEFs from wild-type mice. TGase 2 directly cross links the DNA binding domain of p53, leading to p53 depletion <I>via</I> autophagy in RCC. TGase 2 and p53 expression showed an inverse relationship in RCC cells. <P><B>Summary</B></P><P>In an attempt to improve local control and survival in patients with advanced rectal carcinoma, neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy (CRT) has been increasingly used in patient management. However, a significant proportion of patients shows poor response to adjuvant CRT. Thus, the ability to predict CRT responsiveness in patients with rectal cancer would benefit effective management. Several molecular markers related to regulation of cell cycle, apoptosis, or DNA repair have been proposed as candidate predictors of therapeutic response to CRT, but, to date, none has been definitively proven to be predictive of CRT response. To evaluate the use of various molecular markers as predictors of the response to CRT in rectal carcinoma, we investigated immunohistochemical expressions of p53, p21<SUP>WAF1/CIP1</SUP>, Bcl-2, Bax, Ki-67, Ku-70, and 2 new candidate markers (histone deacetylase 1 and metabotropic glutamate receptor 4) in pretreatment biopsy samples of 130 rectal carcinomas. We further compared the expressions of these molecular markers with the pathological responses of the tumors after therapy. We found that Bax expression, among the markers studied, was exclusively related to tumor regression. Its expression was significantly higher in the complete response group as compared with the partial response group (54% versus 29%, <I>P</I> = .017). This result confirms that apoptosis plays an important role in tumor response to CRT and provides evidence that Bax may serve as a predictable molecular marker for chemoradiosensitivity in rectal carcinoma.</P>

In the present study, chronic effects of the hot water extracts of walnut seed (Juglans regia L.) (WSE) and Nelumbo nucifera seed (NSE) were investigated in mice exposed to 2 hr of restraint stress each day for 4 weeks. Corticosterone levels in serum were significantly increased in the vehicle-treated stressed group (25 μg/dL) compared to that in the control group (13 μg/dL). This stress induced gastric redness and lesions. However, treatment with WSE and/or NSE significantly protected the stomach from this lesion by 50-60% compared to that in the vehicle-treated group. In the amygdala, the administration of WSE and/or NSE also reduced the immediate early gene (c-fos) expression by 70-90% vs. the vehicle-treated group. These suggest that WSE and/or NSE may reduce the appearance of symptoms induced by stress and these materials are useful as anti-stress foods, as natural products tend to be relatively safe compared to chemical products.
