In this paper, various configurations of octagonal wound transformer core topology, which has previously proved advantages on conventional wound cores, are studied. Each configuration has different joint types and different placement of joint zones on the core. Magnetic flux distributions and power losses of each configuration are analyzed and compared. Comparisons are based on both 2D&3D finite element simulations and experimental studies. The results show that, joint types and their placements on the core cause local flux accumulations and dramatically affect power loss of the core.
Failure mechanism of FBGA solder joints in memory module subjected to harmonic excitation
Cinar, Y.,Jang, J.,Jang, G.,Kim, S.,Jang, J.,Chang, J.,Jun, Y. Pergamon Press 2012 Microelectronics and reliability Vol.52 No.4
This paper investigates the failure mechanism of Fine-pitch Ball Grid Array (FBGA) solder joints of memory modules due to harmonic excitation by the experiments and the finite element method. A finite element model of the memory module was developed, and the natural frequencies and modes were calculated and verified by experimental modal testing. Modal damping ratios are also obtained and used in the forced vibration analysis. The experimental setup was developed to monitor resistance variation of FBGA solder joints due to the harmonic excitation under Joint Electron Devices Engineering Council (JEDEC) standard service conditions. Experiments showed that the failure of the solder joints of the memory module under vibration mainly occurs due to resonance. Forced vibration analysis was performed to determine the solder joints having high stress concentration under harmonic excitation. It showed that failure occurs due to the relative displacement between PCB and package and solder joints are the most vulnerable part of the memory module under vibration. It also showed that cracked solder joints in the experiments match those in the simulations with the highest stress concentration.
Repair bond strength of composite resin to zirconia restorations after different thermal cycles
Cinar, Serkan,Kirmali, Omer The Korean Academy of Prosthodonitics 2019 The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics Vol.11 No.5
PURPOSE. This in vitro study investigated the repair bond strength of the zirconia ceramic after different aging conditions. MATERIALS AND METHODS. In order to imitate the failure modes of veneered zirconia restorations, veneer ceramic, zirconia, and veneer ceramic-zirconia specimens were prepared and were divided into 4 subgroups as: control ($37^{\circ}C$ distilled water for 24 hours ) and 3000, 6000, 12000 thermal cycling groups (n=15). Then, specimens were bonded to composite resin using a porcelain repair kit according to the manufacturer recommendation. The repair bond strength (RBS) test was performed using a universal testing machine (0.5 mm/min). Failure types were analyzed under a stereomicroscope. Two-way ANOVA and Bonferroni test were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS. The RBS values of zirconia specimens were statistically significant and higher than veneer ceramic and veneer ceramic-zirconia specimens in control, 3000 and 6000 thermal cycling groups (P<.05). When 12000 thermal cycles were applied, the highest value was found in zirconia specimens but there was no statistically significant difference between veneer ceramic and veneer ceramic-zirconia specimens (P>.05). Veneer ceramic specimens exhibited cohesive failure types, zirconia specimens exhibited adhesive failure types, and veneer ceramic-zirconia specimens exhibited predominately mixed failure types. CONCLUSION. Thermal cycling can adversely affect RBS of composite resin binded to level of fractured zirconia ceramics.
EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON AN SI ENGINE FUELLED BY LPG/ACETYLENE MIXTURES
Gursel Cinar,Abdelrahman Eldamanhory,Selahaddin Orhan Akansu,Huseyin Enes Fil,Mehmet Ilhan Ilhak 한국자동차공학회 2020 International journal of automotive technology Vol.21 No.5
In the current time, sustainability and development of internal combustion engines is subjected to two kinds of threats which are fossil fuel depletion and environmental pollution. So, considerable efforts in the world have been exerted to develop and introduce alternative gaseous fuels to replace conventional fuel by partial or total replacement. In this study, the effect of adding acetylene to LPG-fuelled SI engine has been examined. This addition was with flow rates of 500, 750 and 1000 g/h for 25 % load and 1000 g/h for 50 % load, respectively. An experimental investigation has been carried out on 4 stroke, 4- cylinder, water-cooled spark ignition (SI) engine at constant speed (1500 rpm). Also, performance and emissions parameters have been tested at different excess air coefficients (λ = 0.8, 1, 1.2 and 1.7). As a result, it has been found optimum conditions which are the addition of 750 g/h acetylene for 25 % load (almost 41 % of the LPG-acetylene mixture at λ = 1.2) and 1000 g/h for 50 % load (almost 36 % of the LPG-acetylene mixture at λ = 1.5). In addition, hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions decreased, while NO emissions increased when compared to that of baseline LPG operation.
Fatigue life estimation of FBGA memory device under vibration
Yusuf Cinar,장건희 대한기계학회 2014 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.28 No.1
This paper predicts the fatigue life of fine-pitch ball grid array (FBGA) solder joints in memory devices due to harmonic excitationthrough experiments and finite element analysis. Finite element models of the memory device with simplified solder joints and with detailedsolder joints were developed as a global model and a local model, respectively. A global-local modeling technique was used in thefinite element simulation to calculate the stress magnitude of solder joints in the memory device under vibration. Stress versus life (S-N)curve was generated for the memory devices under various vibration levels to derive the fatigue constants of solder material. The fatiguelife of the memory device was then determined by using the Basquin equation and Miner’s rule. It was experimentally verified that thepredicted fatigue life of the memory device under cumulative damage conditions matches the experimental results within reasonable accuracy.
IDENTITY ALIGNMENT IN CAMPAIGNING: FIELD-EXPERIMENTAL EVIDENCE FROM GERMANY
Ceren Cinar,Frederik Feri?,Florian Foos 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2023 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2023 No.07
Group identities, also known as social identities, have been established as measurable, stable, and behaviorally relevant constructs in marketing, psychology, and political science. According to research in political psychology, shared in-group identities can increase a voter’s support for an in-group political candidate.
How Managers React to Crisis?: A Planned Behavior Theory Approach
Gokhan Cinar,Ferruh Isin,Adnan Hushmat 한국유통과학회 2016 Asian Journal of Business Environment (AJBE) Vol.6 No.4
Purpose - Not all firms are able to completely eliminate the risk arising out of the crisis. Success hides in the ability to perceive the market expectations accurately and take correct decisions. This study aims to analyze the firms’ decisions at gross-root level. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - Primary data is obtained with the help of specially designed questionnaires from the agriproducts export firms that are members of export union of Turkey. The study is based on four theoretical structures: general planned behavior theory model, perception-leading behavior control and subjective norm model, perceived-behavioralcontrol leading perception and subjective norm models, and perceptions and subjective norms leading behavior control model. Structural Equation Models (SEM) is used to conduct the empirical analysis. Results - The findings show perceptions and subjective norms leading behavior control model as the best one, concluding that the environmental pressures and positive perceptions have significant effect on the strategic decisions of the agriproducts export firms. Conclusion - Policy tools like creating positive perception in the markets, providing sufficient information and financial support to the firms and increasing market competition can be used effectively to achieve the said objective.
