Dermatomyositis is characterized by progressive, symmetric, Proximal muscle weakness and a nonsuppurative inflammatory myopathy of unknown etiology involving predominantly skeletal muscles. It is also characterized by typical skin lesions. Interstitial lung disease has a poor prognosis when it is associated with dermatomyositis. Organizing pneumonia is a disease in which granulation tissue fills the lumina of terminal and respiratory bronchioles and extends into the distal airspaces. The cryptogenic nature of the process is appreciated in that organizing pneumonia patterns of injury can be seen in secondary forms of the disease (secondary organizing pneumonia). Organizin pneumonia has been reported to occur in 5~10% in dermatomyositis-polymyositis patients Anti-histidyl tRNA synthetase antibody (anti-Jo-1) is a Predictive disease marker that is reported to occur in up to 70% of patients. We describe a 49-year-old male dermatomyosits patient who presented with organizing pneumonia and was found to have negative anti-Jo-1 antibody.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) have emerged as a new therapeutic tool for a number of clinical applications, because they have multipotency and paracrine effects via various factors. In the present study, we investigated the effects of adipose-derived MSC (Ad-MSC) transplantation via intrathecal injection through the cisterna magna on cell proliferation and differentiation of endogenous stem cells in the hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG) using Ki-67 (a marker for proliferating cells), and doublecortin (DCX, a marker for neuroblasts). The transplanted Ad-MSC were detected in the meninges, not in the hippocampal parenchyma. However, the number of Ki-67-immunoreactive cells was significantly increased by 83% in the DG 2 days after single Ad-MSC injection, and by 67% at 23 days after repeated Ad-MSC treatment compared with that in the vehicle-treated group after Ad-MSC transplantation. On the other hand, the number of DCX-immunoreactive cells in the DG was not changed at 2 days after single Ad-MSC injection; however, it was significantly increased by 62% 9 days after single Ad-MSC injection. At 23 days after repeated Ad-MSC application, the number of DCX-immunoreactive cells was much more increased (223% of the vehicle-treated group). At this time point, DCX protein levels were also significantly increased compared with those in the vehicle-treated group. These results suggest that the intrathecal injection of Ad-MSC could enhance endogenous cell proliferation, and the repeated Ad-MSC injection could be more efficient for an enhancement of endogenous cell proliferation and differentiation in the brain.

In this paper, the design of the array type power MOSFETs is discussed in terms of on-resistance, breakdown voltage, placement of FLRs(field limiting ring) and threshold voltage. Also, 9-cell(square-on square grid) VDMOSs are fabricated to confirm the feasibility of the design method. Existence of optimum p-well spacing for minimum on-resistance, which is anticipated by the theoretical results is confirmed by the experiment of the fabricated power MOSFETs. Breakdown voltage of power MOSFET is upgraded by using two FLR's and their optimum placement is determined from the experimental results of the diodes with FLRs. The threshold voltage is controlled by the ion implantation within the design specification. Experimental results are in good agreement with the design specification. Experimental results are in good agreement with the design values. Characteristics of the fabricated power MOSFETs are 190Ω in on-resistance, 270V in breakdown voltage and 2.9V in thershold voltage.
Hydraulic Conductivity Variation of Coarse-Fine Soil Mixture upon Mixing Ratio

This paper presents the theoretical and experimental investigations of the hydraulic conductivity variation of the soil mixture that contains two distinct particle size distributions, coarse and fine soils. A new model for the hydraulic conductivity is introduced that focuses on the relationship between the coarse-fine soil mixing ratio and the hydraulic conductivity of the mixture. For the model verification, permeability tests were conducted. The glass beads and quality-controlled standard sand and soils obtained from fields were used for the specimen. The experiment results showed that the hydraulic conductivity of the soil mixture strongly depends on the mixing ratio. As the amount of the coarse soil contained in the fine soil increased, the hydraulic conductivity of the mixture decreased from that for the fine soil until the critical mixing ratio. This ratio is defined as the fine soils perfectly fill the voids between the coarse soils without remains. When the ratio is greater than the critical mixing ratio, the hydraulic conductivity is drastically increased with the mixing ratio up to that of the coarse soil. The comparison between the computed values and the test results shows that the introduced model successfully describes the measurements.
