In this paper, we analyzed the upper bound of cell loss probability for an ATM node Using the analysis, we compared the performance of three types of the connection admission controls. As results, we showed that, if we assign a space-priority to the loss-sensitive traffic class, the multiplexing gain improves over other schemes while satisfying the individual cell loss requirement.
ATM망에서 트래픽 측정에 근거한 동적인 연결 수락 제어

We propose a dynamic connection admission control method based on on-line traffic measurement for ATM networks. The proposed method estimates the available bandwidth by observing cell streams of the aggregate traffic. A connection request is accepted if the available bandwidth is larger than the declared peak rate, and otherwise rejected. For an on-off source model, simulation results show that the proposed method achieves a moderate link utilization in comparison with the ideal case. The proposed connection admission control method is simple and can be implementable in real time while satisfying the QOS requirements.
TMN 개념을 응용한 사설 데이타 통신망 관리구조 설계

It was required INM(integrated network management) with consistency and standardization in order to support efficiently communication service for operators and users. In such ITU-T recommended TMN which is network management architecture for telecommunication, and intended to achieve uniform and comprehensive network management using standardized network management interface. This paper proposes PDCN(private data communication network) management services and management functions based on ITU-T and RACE project. This designs INM architecture based on TMN concept in order to manage efficiently PDCN. The PDCN INM architecture supports to manage LAN and WAN devices and lines with global correspondence, and helps INM system design and implementation.
Bursty 트래픽에 대한 ATM 다중화기의 성능 분석

In this paper, we investigate statistical multiplexing characteristics of an ATM multiplexer for the bursty traffics. We first derive the upper bound of the cell loss probability, which is independent of the burst and idle period distributions. Using this result, we estimate the lower bounds of the maximum link utilization and the multiplexing gain for the ATM multiplexer. We examine an equivalent bandwidth which is effective bandwidth required to satisfy the quality of service for a connection. Using the equivalent bandwidth concept, we find the maximum allowable number of multiplexed traffic sources.

In this paper, we implement an audio conferencing system for group communications using RTP(Real Time Transport Protocol) on the MBone(Multicast Backbone). The audio conferencing system is developed in Windows 95 environment at PC and supports various capabilities of audio mixing, several audio encoding schemes, playout synchronization and so on. Also, our system improves transmission efficiency with silence detection and gives better audio conferencing quality using echo cancellation technique.
BL-CAST: Beacon-Less Broadcast Protocol for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

With the extension of wireless technology, vehicular ad hoc networks provide important services for the dissemination of general data and emergency warnings. However, since, the vehicle topology frequently changes from a dense to a sparse network depending on the speed of the moving vehicles and the time of day, vehicular ad hoc networks require a protocol that can facilitate the efficient and reliable dissemination of emergency messages in a highly mobile environment under dense or intermittent vehicular connectivity. Therefore, this paper proposes a new vehicular broadcast protocol, called BL-CAST, that can operate effectively in both dense and sparse network scenarios. As a low overhead multi-hop broadcast protocol, BL-CAST does not rely on the periodic exchange of beacons for updating location information. Instead, the location information of a vehicle is included in a broadcast message to identify the last rebroadcasting vehicle in an intermittently connected network. Simulation results show that BL-CAST outperforms the DV-CAST protocol in terms of the end-to-end delay, message delivery ratio and network overhead.
Motion-tracked Speed Dialing for Smartphones

The use of a smartphone with one hand has been getting difficult as the size of the smartphone display gets larger. In addition, people handicapped or using one hand for handling other pieces may encounter difficulties to touch exact numbers for calling with their smartphones. Thus, motion-tracked speed dialing can be a good solution for these cases and also an advanced feature applicable in the future network not requiring dedicated Internet connections. The previous study on this feature showed a result with a limitation of using servers connected via Internet connections for solving real-time control issues. Therefore, this paper proposes a scheme for the smartphone dialing on motion-tracked numbers without any servers or Internet connections, and presents the details of its implementation and results.
