Postoperative infection following orthognatic surgery is rare. When postoperative infections occur, the initial treatment consists of incision and drainage of the affected area, culturing to identify bacterial stains and verify antibiotic sensitivity, and the institution of the appropriate antibiotic regimen. Some plates and screws may eventually require removal, the initial therapy should be attempted to retain the plates and screws until adequete healing has taken place. In orthoganthic surgery, intra-operative complications as a lesion of inferior alveolar nerve, fracture of osteomised segments, incomplete sectioning, malposittion of segments, haemirrhage may occur. The surgeon should be familiar with possible complications to be caused and how to manage them. Prevention of postoperative infection following the orthognathic surgery consists of minimal periosteal reflection, aseptic management of operation field, proper surgical technique, rigid fixation, prophylactic antibiotics.

The studies of density effect, or the effect of population, on density on plant growth have been done, on basis of dry mater production with buckwheat, turnip (Var, Hong dang moo) and radish (Var. Jinjudaepyeng moo) grown in the various spacing. 1. In the early period of plant growth in dry weight was not different each other among varying densities, but as time advanced the plant grown vast space grew sufficiently compared with those of narrow one. 2. Logarithmic relations between the growth of plant(ω)and the density(ρ), logω-logρ, in the material plants, were approximated by two straight lines, one was horizontal line, and another inclined; the former showed non-competition density and the latter competition density, Addition to these the point interlinking two lines standed for the optimup density per unit land area at certain growth period. 3. Values of relative growth rate (RGR) and net assimilation rate (NAR) were decreased as increased in the density, while those of leaf area (LAR) were rather increased in the same condition, with minor exception, from these results and relation between the productive structure and vertical distribution of plant growth the higher density was due to lack of the received light intensity owing to the mutal shading between the plants. The lange value in T/R ratio of the root vegetables grown in the higher density implied to produce less surplus production by the plant under the condition mentioned above.

재외국민 참정권 도입 이후의 재외동포사회를 위한 정책적 과제

2007년 6월 헌법재판소는 재외국민 참정권을 제한한 현행 공직선거법에 대해 헌법불합치(위헌) 결정을 내렸다. 따라서 2010년 지방선거, 2012년 국회의원 및 대통령 선거에서는 285만 명의 재외국민들에게 참정권이 보장될 전망이다. 그러나 몇 가지 과제들이 남아있다. 첫째, 170여 개국에 산재해 있는 재외국민들의 재외선거인명부 작성의 문제이다. 둘째, 해외에서의 투표의 공정성과 부정방지 그리고 개표방식 등의 문제이다. 셋째, 중앙선거와 지방선거 그리고 지역대표와 비례대표 중 어느 범위까지 투표권을 부여할 것인가의 문제이다. 이 밖에도 선거로 인한 동포사회의 분열에 대한 대비, 선거공정성을 위한 관련국가와의 외교적 협력 그리고 재외공관의 기능유지 및 선거관리위원회의 해외기구 구성 등이 과제로 떠오르고 있다. 요컨대, 다양한 과제가 존재하고 있으나 재외국민 참정권을 부여하기도 한 이상 가능한 늦추지 않는 것이 바람직할 것이다. 그러나 발생 가능한 문제점들을 최소화하는 노력이 요구되고 있다. The Constitutional Court on June, 2007 ailed that the current Public Official Election Act that restricts overseas Korean's suffrage is unconstitutional. Therefore, the local election in 2010, the election for the National Assembly members and the presidential election in 2012, will guarantee suffrage for the 2.85 million people living overseas. However, there are several tasks remaining. First, there is a need to complete the overseas Korean electoral register for these people scattered in 170 countries. Second, there are the problems of electoral fairness, anti-fraud approach and the ballot counting in these countries abroad. Third, there are the central and the local election, the local representation and the proportional representation. In addition to, the preparation for a split in the Koreans abroad society, diplomatic cooperation with relevant countries for electoral fairness, maintenance of function of the Korean overseas mission, and The Central Election Management Committee are things to be solved. In other words, although there are a variety of tasks, it is desirable that there is no longer a delay of suffrage. However, it is required that an effort be made to minimize these problems.

산업기술발전에 부응하는 공업계 교원양성 교육과정 개발

The purpose of this study was to develop curriculum for the technical teacher education for newly planned College of Industrial Education of Chungnam National University to meet industrial technology progress in Korea. In order to achieve the purpose, the study investigated recent technological changes of industry and newly revised curriculum of technical high schools. The result of the study are summerized as follows: 1) For the general subjects the suggested curriculum consisted of 48 credits in 9 areas according to Chungnam National University regulation for general subjects. 2) For the professional subjects the suggested curriculum consisted of 20 credits in 10 subjects through slightly modification of governmental regulation for professional subjects. 3) For the technical subjects the suggested curriculum consisted of 80 credits, which ratio of required subjects to elective subjects is 50:50. And over 20 credits were alloted to practice, experiment and drafting are in order to strengthen practical competence. 4) The total credits of the curriculum consisted of 160 credits including 12 credits of general elective subjects. 5) The students taking minor course should complete over 21 credits (9 credits for required and 12 credits for elective) in minor course technical subjects within total 160 credits.

양성 치성종양의 임상적 분석

The author studied on the 128 cases of benign odontogenic tumors which had been diagnosed with biopsy during the period of Jan.1989 to Dec.1998 at the Kyungpook National University Hospital, Yeungnam University Medical Center, Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center, and Taegu Catholic Medical Center. This study contained the clinicostatistical analysis of the frequency in relation to sex, age, locations, chief complaints, duration, radiographic findings, recurrence, teeth, and treatment methods The results were as follow : 1.Of a total of 128 benign odontogenic tumors, ameloblastomas(57 cases; 44.5%) and odontomas (44 cases ; 34.4%) mostly occupied. The other types of lesions were 8 calcifying odontogenic cysts, 7 benign cementoblastomas, 4 myxomas, 3 adenomatoid odontogenic tumors, 2 calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumors, 2 ameloblastic fibro-odontomas, and 1 odontogenic fibroma. 2.In age and sex distribution, benign odontogenic tumors occured slightly more often in males(53.9%) than females(46.1%) and the majority of cases(79.7%) were found during 2nd, 3rd, and 4th decade. 3 There was a predilection for mandibular lesions(mandible-maxilla ratio, 2.6 : 1). 4.The most common chief complaint was swelling(29.7%) and in respect to duration, the cases less than 1 year(50.0%) mainly appeared. 5.There were 7 cases(13.0%) of recurrence on ameloblastoma and there was no recurrence in the others. 6.In Ameloblastoma It commonly occured during 3rd and 4th decade(59.6%) and mean age was 30.2 years. The majority of cases were occurred in mandible(96.5%) , especially mandibular molar and angle area(71.9%). The most common chief complaint was swelling(47.4%) and in respect to duration, the cases less than 1 year(52.6%) mainly appeared. In relation to teeth, there were resorption of root(52.6%), displacement of teeth(31.6%), and in relation to impacted teeth(43.9%). There was higher recurrence rate in the cases by conservative treatment(14.7%) than radical treat-ment(10.0%). As regards radiographic findings, conservative treatments were prevalent in the cases of unilocular type(85.7%) as compared with multilocular type(48.5%). and there was higherrecurrence rate in the cases of multilocular type(18.2%) than unilocular type(4.8%). As regards the type of treatment in relation to age, conservative treatments were prevalent in patients younger than 20 years of age. 7.In Odontomas It commonly occured during 2nd decade(50.0%) and in maxillary anterior teeth(40.9%). The most common chief complaint was delayed retention and permanent impaction of teeth(72.7%), and most frequently associated with impacted teeth(79.5%).

보리새우, Penaeus japonicus의 中腸에서의 Glycine Transport

Glycine transport through mucosal border of the columnar epithelium on the marin shrimp, P. japonicus midgut has been investigated with particular emphasis on the interaction to Na^+. The transmural fluxes of the amino acid across the midgut wall were also determined. 1. Mucosal glycine uptake occurred via Na^+-dependent and Na^+-independent carrier processes, and the passive movement of glycine. 2. Mucosal and serosal glycine uptakes in normal saline were higher than those in Na^+-free medium, but lower than those in Cl^--free medium. 3. L-alanine was acted like a competitive inhibitor of mucosal glycine entry process. 4. Exit process of glycine across the mucosal membrane was accelerated by the presence of L-alanine in the medium. 5. Prediction equation of saturable glycine uptake was derived from experimental data. 6. Turning point and regression coefficients of segmented linear regression for the high affinity and low affinity components of glycine carrier were determined by using computer. 7. Ultrastructural changes of mucosal epithelial cells related to the experimental treatments were observed through transmission and scanning electron microscope.

The seeds of 163 taxa at front the diverse wild populations in south Korea were collected by our staffs of the Arboretum for six years (1995-2000). More then 138 taxa (ca, 85%) were collected mainly from September to October. Successful long-terml survey is recommended to determine the befit dates for seed collections of woody plants in Korea.
