Electrical Measurements of an AlGaN/GaN High-electron-mobility Transistor Structure Grown on Si

We report on magnetotransport results for an Al<sub>0.15</sub>Ga<sub>0.85</sub>N/GaN high-electron-mobility-transistor structure grown on a p-type Si (111) substrate. Our results show that there exists an approximately temperature (<i>T</i>)-independent point, which could be ascribed to a direct transition from a weak insulator to a high Landau level filling factor quantum Hall state, exists in the longitudinal resistivity ρ<sub>xx</sub>. The Hall resistivity decreases with increasing <i>T</i>, compelling experimental evidence for electron-electron interaction effects in a weakly-disordered two-dimensional (2D) system. We find that electron-electron interaction effects can be estimated and eliminated, giving rise to a corrected nominally temperature-independent Hall slope. By fitting the low-field magnetotransport data to conventional 2D weak localization theory, we find that the dephasing rate 1/τ<sub>φ</sub> is proportional to <i>T</i>. Moreover, 1/τ<sub>φ</sub> is finite as <i>T</i> → 0, evidence for zero-temperature dephasing in our system.

We report on experimental studies of an Al$_{0.15}$Ga$_{0.85}$N/GaN high-electron-mobility transistor structure grown on a $p$-type Si (111) substrate. This structure is compatible with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology and, thus, has great potential device applications. The low-temperature magnetoresistivity shows a parabolic dependence on the applied perpendicular magnetic field. This effect is ascribed to electron-electron interaction (EEI) effects in a weakly-disordered two-dimensional system. Our experimental results agree with the EEI theory when the correction term in the ballistic region has been subtracted.

<B>ABSTRACT</B><P>A new β-glucosidase from a novel strain of <I>Terrabacter ginsenosidimutans</I> (Gsoil 3082<SUP>T</SUP>) obtained from the soil of a ginseng farm was characterized, and the gene, <I>bgpA</I> (1,947 bp), was cloned in <I>Escherichia coli</I>. The enzyme catalyzed the conversion of ginsenoside Rb1 {3-<I>O</I>-[β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1-2)-β-d-glucopyranosyl]-20-<I>O</I>-[β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1-6)-β-d-glucopyranosyl]-20(<I>S</I>)-protopanaxadiol} to the more pharmacologically active rare ginsenosides gypenoside XVII {3-<I>O</I>-β-d-glucopyranosyl-20-<I>O</I>-[β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1-6)-β-d-glucopyranosyl]-20(<I>S</I>)-protopanaxadiol}, gypenoside LXXV {20-<I>O</I>-[β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1-6)-β-d-glucopyranosyl]-20(<I>S</I>)-protopanaxadiol}, and C-K [20-<I>O</I>-(β-d-glucopyranosyl)-20(<I>S</I>)-protopanaxadiol]. A BLAST search of the <I>bgpA</I> sequence revealed significant homology to family 3 glycoside hydrolases. Expressed in <I>E. coli</I>, β-glucosidase had apparent <I>Km</I> values of 4.2 ± 0.8 and 0.14 ± 0.05 mM and <I>V</I>max values of 100.6 ± 17.1 and 329 ± 31 μmol·min<SUP>−1</SUP>·mg of protein<SUP>−1</SUP> against <I>p</I>-nitrophenyl-β-d-glucopyranoside and Rb1, respectively. The enzyme catalyzed the hydrolysis of the two glucose moieties attached to the C-3 position of ginsenoside Rb1, and the outer glucose attached to the C-20 position at pH 7.0 and 37°C. These cleavages occurred in a defined order, with the outer glucose of C-3 cleaved first, followed by the inner glucose of C-3, and finally the outer glucose of C-20. These results indicated that BgpA selectively and sequentially converts ginsenoside Rb1 to the rare ginsenosides gypenoside XVII, gypenoside LXXV, and then C-K. Herein is the first report of the cloning and characterization of a novel ginsenoside-transforming β-glucosidase of the glycoside hydrolase family 3.</P>

Objective: Lynch syndrome (LS) is a hereditar y cancer predisposition syndrome witha significantly increased risk of colorectal and endometrial cancers. Current standardpractice involves universal screening for LS in patients with newly diagnosed colorectal orendometrial cancer using a multi-step screening protocol (MSP). However, MSP may notalways accurately identif y LS cases. To address this limitation, we compared the diagnosticperformance of immediate germline sequencing (IGS) with MSP in a high-risk group. Methods: A total of 31 Taiwanese women with synchronous or metachronous endometrialand colorectal malignancies under went MSP which included immunohistochemical stainingof DNA mismatch repair (MMR) proteins, MLH1 promoter hypermethylation analysis, andgermline sequencing to identif y pathogenic variants. All patients who were excluded duringMSP received germline sequencing for MMR genes to simulate IGS for the detection of LS. Results: Our findings indicate that IGS surpassed MSP in terms of diagnostic yield (29.0% vs. 19.4%, respectively) and sensitivity (90% vs. 60%, respectively). Specifically, IGS successfullyidentified nine LS cases, which is 50% more than the number detected through MSP. Additionally, germline methylation analysis revealed one more LS case with constitutionalMLH1 promoter hypermethylation, bringing the total LS cases to ten (32.3%). Intriguingly,we obser ved no significant differences in clinical characteristics or overall sur vival betweenpatients with and without LS in our cohort. Conclusion: Our study suggests that IGS may potentially offer a more effective approachcompared to MSP in identif ying LS among high-risk patients. This advantage is evident whenpatients have been pre-selected utilizing specific clinical criteria.

Objective Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its specific receptor, tropomyosin-related kinase (TrkB), play important roles in treating depression. In this experiment, we examined whether 7,8-dihydroxyflavone, a novel potent TrkB agonist, could reverse the behavioral and biochemical abnormalities induced by the chronic mild stress (CMS) paradigm in rats. Methods SD rats were exposed to a battery of stressors for 56 days. 7,8-dihydroxyflavone (5 and 20 mg/kg) were administered intraperitoneally during the last 28 days of the CMS paradigm. Rats were tested in sucrose consumption test (SCT), forced-swimming test (FST) and elevated T-maze (ETM). Serum corticosterone levels and hippocampal BDNF levels of the rats were measured. Results Four-week CMS on the rats induced their depression-like behavior in SCT. The CMS-reduced sucrose consumption was reversed starting from 7 days after the 7,8-dihydroxyflavone (20 mg/kg) treatment and remained across the subsequent treatment regime. 7,8-dihydroxyflavone, when given at 5 mg/kg for 3 weeks, reduced the immobility time in the FST in the CMS-subjected rats. Additionally, the 4-week treatment with 7,8-dihydroxyflavone (20 mg/kg) attenuated the CMS-induced increase in anxiety-like behavior in the ETM. For the CMS-subjected rats, 7,8-dihydroxyflavone treatment dose-dependently reduced their serum corticosterone levels but increased their hippocampal BDNF levels only at 5 mg/kg. Conclusiona 7,8-dihydroxyflavone was beneficial for both depression and anxiety-like behaviors, and may exert fast-onset antidepressant effects. This provides a new insight into the pharmacological management of depression. 경상남도농업기술원 화훼연구소에서 2020년 파스텔톤의 핑크색 스프레이장미 ‘핑크센스(Pink sense)’를 육성하였다. 경남농업기술원 화훼연구소에서 2017년 분홍색 스프레이 장미 품종 ‘햇살(모본)’과 보라색 스탠다드 장미 ‘불루진(부본)’을 인공교배를 실시하여 10월 초 320개의 종자를 수확하였다. 2018년 ‘18RS 29-128’ 등 1차 12계통, 2차 ‘18RS 29-128’ 등 6계통을 선발하였고 선발된 계통은 양액재배 베드에 정식하여 2020년까지 꽃달림, 꽃잎수, 절화수량 등을 검정하였다. 기호도가 높고 시장성이 좋은 ‘18RS 29-128’을 2020년 제14차 경상남도종자위원회의 심의를 거쳐 ‘핑크센스’로 명명한 후 국립종자원에 품종보호 출원하였다(출원번호 2021-61). ‘핑크센스’의 화색은 적색계열의 분홍색(38D)이며, 화형은 불규칙한 원형이다. 잎색은 녹색(N137B)이며 광택이 있다. 꽃잎 수는 36매이며 소화는 5개로 꽃달림의 형태가 우수하다. 가시가 거의 없어 수확 시 작업이 용이하며 절화수량은 126본/㎡/년으로 보통이다. 절화장은 64cm이며 생육이 빠르고 측지발생이 적은 편이다. 수확부위의 경화과정이 빠른 편이므로 수확 시 기부를 3~5cm 정도 남기고 수확하여야 한다. 동절기 시설재배 시 상온이상의 온도관리를 해야 화형이 유지된다.

경상남도농업기술원 화훼연구소에서 2020년 주황색 스탠다드장미 ‘케렌시아(Querencia)’를 육성하였다. 경남농업기술원 화훼연구소에서 2017년 주황색 스탠다드장미 품종 ‘09117(모본)’과 황색 스탠다드장미 ‘골든나오미(부본)’을 인공교배를 실시하여 215개의 교배종자를 획득하였다. 2018년 2월 실생에서 2계통을 선발하여 코코피트 배지에 정식하여 양액재배 하였다. 2018년부터 2020년까지 화색, 화형, 절화수량, 병저항성 등을 조사하였고, 화색이 우수하고 화형이 독특한 ‘18R 279-4’ 1계통을 선발하였다. 2020년 제14차 경상남도종자위원회의 심의를 거쳐 ‘케렌시아’로 명명한 후 국립종자원에 품종보호 출원하였다(출원번호 2021-87). ‘케렌시아’의 화색은 주황색(R40C)이며, 화형은 불규칙한 원형이다. 잎색은 녹색(GN137A)으로 옅은 편이며 광택이 있다. 꽃잎 수는 60매로 많고 꽃크기는 9.3 × 4.0cm이다. 가시는 보통이나 측지발생이 거의 없어 재배 시 작업이 용이하다. 절화수량은 15.9본/주/년으로 보통이며, 절화장이 70cm이다. 생육이 빠르고 왕성하며 초세가 우수하다. 개화적기에 수확을 해야 유통 후 절화수명이 길고 개화가 잘되며, 고온기에 고유 화색 발현과 정상화형을 유지하기 위해 30~40% 차광이 필요하다.
