To select excellent diploid parental lines for potato breeding, the mechanisms of 2n pollen formation, the frequency distribution of the mechanisms, the frequency of 2n pollen, and the frequency distribution of pollen grain diameter were investigated in eighty-two progeny clones derived from W 5337.3 × W5295.7. In twenty-nine progeny clones, the frequency of stainable 2n pollen was higher than 30 percent. The size of n and 2n pollen was clearly divided in the range of 17.5-25.0μ and 27.5-37.5μ, respectively. The mechanisms of 2n pollen formation in the eighty-two progeny clones were found to be parallel spindles(ps), premature cytokinesis(pc) and synaptic mutant(sy). Chiral LISs of cis and trans-methyl-2-phenylcyclopropanecarboxylate, cis and trans-t-butyl-2-phenylcyclopropanecarboxylate, trans-N,N-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxamide, trans-2-phenylcyclopropyl methyl ketone and trans-2-phenylcyclopropyl t-butyl ketone have been studied in presence of Eu (facam)_3. Chiral LISs of trans isomers are different from those of cis isomers, it can be discussed the change of geometric structure of chiral LSR-substrate complexes. The optical purities of trans isomers can be measured by the resonance of methyl proton and cis ismers by the resonance of HB or methyl proton in the presence of Eu (facam)_3. In trans isomers chiral LISs are influenced from the steric effect of the functional groups rather than basicities.
