      • Three Newly Recorded Species of the Genus Olethreutes (Lepidoptera, Tortricidae) from North Korea

        In North Korea, the Tortricidae has been poorly studied until Byun et al. (1998) reviewed 350 species from Korea, including 63 species of Tortricinae and 40 species of Olethreutinae. Then Razowski (1999) presented a checklist of 358 species of Tortricidae from Korea, including 176 species of the North Korean Tortricidae with mostly based on the avaialble materials in Poland and previous literatures. Later, a serial studies on the family Tortricdae of North Korea with the material deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum provided several additional data for the North Korean tortricid fauna (Byun 2009; Byun 2011a; Byun 2011b; Byun 2011c; Byun et al. 2007) During the course of the study on the Tortricidae of North Korea deposited in Hungarian Natural History Museum, the author found three species of Olethreutes for the first time from North Korea. Of them, Olethreutes aviana Falkovitsh is also newly reported to the Korean peninsula. The aim of the present study is to report the three species of Olethreutes as new to North Korean fauna. In the present study, three species of the genus Olethreutes: O. aviana Falkovitsh, O. obovata (Walsingham), and O. orthocosma (Meyrick), based on the material deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, are reported for the first time from North Korea. Among them, O. aviana Falkovitsh is recorded as new to the Korean peninsula. Photographs of the adults and genitalia of the species are presented.

      • Korean species of the genus Cochylidia (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) in Korea

        Genus Cochylidia, belonging to the tribe Cochylini under the family Tortricidae, consists of small-sized moths, which is one of the small group with only 11 described species until now (Brown 2005; Sun & Li 2012). Recently, Brown (2005) listed eight species and one subspecies. Later, three species were added to the genus by Sun & Li (2012) from China. In Korea, Park (1976) reported the genus Cochylidia with three unrecorded species, C. contumescen Meyrick, C. richteriana Fischer von Röslerstamm, and C. subroseana Haworth from Korea. Later, Byun et al. (1996) reported two additional species from Korea: C. heydeniana Herrich-Schäffer and C. moguntiana Rösler. Recently Byun et al. (2017) reported the genus in Korea with two new species, C. flavifasciatus Byun and C. hallasanensis Byun. In this study, we provide the checklist with its external characteristics, localities, and images of adults and genitalia.

        A Taxonomic Study of the Rivellia syngenesiae Species Group(Diptera: Platystomatidae) in Korea

        The Rivellia syngenesiae species group from Korea is taxonomically studied. As a result, The following species are recognized: R. alini Enderlein, R. mandschurica Hennig, R. parilis Frey, R. tridentata Byun et Suh sp. nov., R. harai Byun et Suh sp. nov., and R. longialata Byun et Suh sp. novo Among these species, only R. mandschurica has been previously known from Korea. These six species belong to the R. syngenesiae species group, which can be characterized by the base of apodemal lobe distinctly separated from imaginary line connecting the bases of lateral arms when viewed from ventrally. A key, descriptions, and illustrations are provided for these species. In addition, we designated a lectotype for R. charbinensis Enderlein, which was examined for a comparison with the closely related R. parilis.

      • New Faunistic Data of Tortricinae (Lepidoptera, Tortricidae) for the North Korean Fauna

        The first record of the subfamily Tortricinae from North Korea was reported by Zhu (1969), comprising 17 species. Later Park and Byun (1991) added 11 species of the subfamily. And Park and Razowski (1991) added 16 species of the tribe Tortricini. Jaros et al. (1992) reported 11 species of Tortricinae from North Korea, based on the material Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic(CAS). Byun et al. (1998) enumerated 350 species of Korean Tortricidae, citing 63 species of Tortricinae and 40 species of Olethreutinae from North Korea. Later Razowski (1999) provided a list of Korean Tortricidae with 176 of North Korea. Despite these studies, much of the North Korean Tortricidae deposited in the HNHM remained unstudied. Recently the first author examined the totricid material in the HNHM and reported 7 newly recorded species from North Korea (Byun et al., 2007). In the present study, we provide the faunistic information for ten species of Tortricinae, including their localities. This study was carried out under the support of Korea National Arboretum and Korea Forestry Research Institute.

        12주간의 댄스스포츠 활동이 여성노인의 자아탄력성과 주관적 행복감 및 평형성에 미치는 영향

        여성노인을 대상으로 12주간 댄스스포츠 활동이 자아탄력성과 주관적 행복감 및 평형성에 미치는 영향을 알아본 연구 결과를 토대로 논의를 전개하면 다음과 같다. 먼저 장기간의 댄스스포츠 활동은 여성노인의 자아탄력성을 높이는 효과가 큰 것으로 나타났다( η2 =.952). 이러한 결과는 신체적이고 예술적인 방과 후 활동에 참여한 초등학생들이 인지적 활동에 참여한 청소년들보다 자아탄력성이 높다는 Lee(2006)의 연구결과와 일치하고 있다. 연구대상자는 다르지만 스포츠 활동참여가 아동들의 자아 탄력성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고(Kang, 2008), 스포츠 활동에 참여한 청소년 집단이 비참여 집단보다 자아탄력성이 높다고 보고한 Byun at al의 연구(2011)와도 맥을 같이 하고 있다. 특히, Byun at al(2011)은 활동이 단체운동일 때, 매일 참여할 때, 2시간 이상 참여할 때, 또래와 함께 활동할 때 자아탄력성이 높다고 보고한 바 있다. 댄스스포츠는 예술적 신체활동으로서 노인들이 내적 감정을 표현하고 구성원과의 조화로운 관계를 유지하며 정서적 안정을 높이는 가운데 자아 탄력성에 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 사료된다. 이 연구에서 장기간의 댄스스포츠 활동은 여성노인들의 주관적 행복감도 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다(η2 =.895). 이러한 결과는 걷기, 배드민턴, 게이트볼, 요가, 등산, 자전거 타기와 같은 스포츠 활동에 참여를 많이 할수록 노인들의 정서적 행복감이 높게 나타난다고 보고한 Kim & Lee(2011)의 연구결과를 지지하였다. 또한 생활무용 참여를 통하여 노인들의 정서적 행복감이 증가함을 관찰한 Lee, Park & Chun(2010)의 연구와도 맥을 같이 하고 있다. 스포츠나 신체활동에 참여한 노인은 비 참여 노인보다 심리적으로 행복감을 더 느끼며, 생활만족도도 더 높다는 보고가 있었다(Lee, 2005). 운동 프로그램에 참가하는 노인의 신체적 자기개념이 심리적 행복감에 긍정적 영향을 주며, 결국 높아진 심리적 행복감이 생활만족에도 긍정적 영향을 미친다고 설명한 바 있다. Park & Kim(2010)의 연구도 중년여성들의 댄스활동 참여가 행복감에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다고 보고하고 있어 이 연구의 결과를 뒷받침해주고 있다. 능동적인 신체활동에 참여하는 사람들이 반복적으로 경험하는 현저한 정서 반응의 하나는 재미를 수반하는 즐거움이다. 이는 활발한 신체활동으로부터 경험되는 긍정적인 인지적·정서적 상태를 의미하며 신체활동을 통한 기분전환과 정서변화가 운동의 행복감 증진 효과를 설명하는 기전이 될 수 있다(Lim, 2010). Oh & Shin(2008)도 적극적이고 능동적인 신체활동으로 긍정적 정서의 향상, 변화에 적응하는 조절능력의 향상, 자신감의 증가 등으로 연결되어 주관적 행복감이 높아 진다고 기전을 설명한 바 있다. 그 외에도 규칙적 운동은 다양한 이유로 행복감을 높일 수 있는데 운동능력을 향상시켜 자존감을 높이거나 사교활동의 기회를 제공하여 행복감을 높일 수도 있을 것이다. 그리고 규칙적인 신체활동은 근육의 이완으로 불안을 감소시키며, 자신의 건강상태, 외모, 성격, 재능 등에 긍정적인 변화를 일으킴으로써 건전한 성격발달과 함께 심리적 행복감을 향상시킬 수 있다는 보고도 있었다(Kim & Lee, 2008). 다음으로 장기간 댄스스포츠 활동에 참여한 여성노인들의 평형성이 크게 향상되었다. 이것은 다이나믹 시스템의 운동프로그램이 여성노인의 동적 평형성에 긍정적 영향을 미친다는 Kim & Choi(2006)의 연구결과와 같은 맥락에 있다. 이 연구의 결과는 노인들을 대상으로 택견 품밝기(Lim at al, 2008), 새라밴드운동(Kim at al, 2011), 산림운동(Choi, 2011), 수중운동 및 지상운동(Byun, 2012), 댄스스포츠(Jeong at al, 2008) 등을 적용하여 노인들의 평형성에 긍정적 향상을 관찰한 선행연구들과도 일치하고 있다. 이러한 신체활동을 통한 노인들의 평형성 향상은 낙상 예방에도 효과적일 것이라는 주장이 동반되었다. 댄스스포츠는 특성상 균형감각을 많이 요구하는 활동이다. 즉, 댄스스포츠 활동은 다양한 신체적 균형동작이 필요하므로 그에 따라 자연스럽게 여성노인들의 유연성과 평형성이 향상된 것으로 보인다. 특히, 노인들의 신체활동은 근력과 심폐 지구력 같은 체력 향상 외에 반사능력과 근신경의 협응 향상 및 유연성과 평형성의 향상을 가져와 심리적 안정성을 유지하고 자신감을 상승시키는데 도움을 줄 수 있다(Rose, 2003). 노인의 행동 양식은 환경적, 사회적, 심리적 조건에 의해 다양하게 나타나므로 주어진 환경과 조건에 맞는 적절한 댄스스포츠 같은 신체활동을 한다면 스스로의 생활에 긍정적인 의미를 부여하게 되고 정서도 안정된 상태를 유지할 것으로 보인다. 노인들은 스포츠센터나 지역 문화강좌와 같은 사회적 활동에 참가할 때도 긍정적 심리상태를 경험하므로(Kim, Choi & Kim, 2007) 노인대상의 운동 상담과 프로그램 개발 및 코칭 시에 숙지해야 할 정보로 사료된다. 향후에는 노인들의 신체특성에 적합한 보다 다양한 댄스스포츠 프로그램을 개발하고 적용하여 그들의 생리심리적 효과를 다각적인 관점에서 분석하는 연구의 필요성이 제기된다. 여성 노인들을 대상으로 댄스스포츠 활동을 적용하여 종속변인들의 변화를 분석한 이 연구에서 다음과 같은 결론이 도출되었다. 12주간의 규칙적 댄스스포츠 활동은 여성노인들의 자아탄력성, 주관적 행복감, 평형성에 매우 긍정적인 변화를 가져올 수 있다. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of long-term dance sports activity on ego-resilience, subjective happiness and balance in elderly women. The subjects were a total of 40 women who attended in a silver school in a medium-sized city. They all were over 64 years old and have not done exercise for past 6 months. Methods: Subjects were randomly assigned to experimental group (n=20) or control group (n=20). The dance sports activity of the experimental group was consist of ‘cha-cha' and ‘jive', and was done for 12 weeks, 3 times per week, 90 minutes per day. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) using the pre-test data as covariate was used to compare the difference between the two groups (α=.05). Results: There were significant differences in the ego-resilience [F(1,37)=726.108, p=.000, η2=.952], the subjective happiness [F(1,37)=299.353, p=.000, η2=.895], and the balance[F(1,37)=32.167, p=.000, η2=.738]. Conclusion: It was concluded that long-term dance sports activity have very positive effect on psychological health and balance for elderly women considering each effect sizes η2. Future studies are needed to examine the psychological effect of diverse dance sports programs which are proper for older adult`s physical features.

        Procyanidin C1 Causes Vasorelaxation Through Activation of the Endothelial NO/cGMP Pathway in Thoracic Aortic Rings

        The aim of this study was to clarify the efficacy of procyanidin C1 (Pro C1) for modulating vascular tone. Pro C1 induced a potent vasorelaxant effect on phenylephrine-constricted endothelium-intact thoracic aortic rings, but had no effect on denuded thoracic aortic rings. Moreover, Pro C1 caused a significant increase in nitric oxide (NO) production in endothelial cells. Pro C1-induced vasorelaxation and Pro C1-induced NO production were significantly decreased in the presence of a nonspecific potassium channel blocker (tetraethylammonium chloride [TEA]), an endothelial NO synthase inhibitor ($N^G$-monomethyl-L-arginine [L-NMMA]), and a store-operated calcium entry inhibitor (2-aminoethyl diphenylborinate [2-APB]). Pro C1-induced vasorelaxation was also completely abolished by an inhibitor of soluble guanyl cyclase, which suggests that the Pro C1 effects observed involved cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) production. Interestingly, Pro C1 significantly enhanced basal cGMP levels. Taken together, these results indicate that Pro C1-induced vasorelaxation is associated with the activation of the calcium-dependent NO/cGMP pathway, involving potassium channel activation. Thus, Pro C1 may represent a novel and potentially therapeutically relevant compound for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

        A Systematic Study of Rivellia Robineau-Desvoidy in Korea, with Emphasis on the Species Allied to Rivellia basilaris (Diptera: Platystomatidae)

        As a result of taxonomic study of the Rivellia basilaris and its allied species in Korea, the following five species are recognized: R. basilaris(Wiedemann), R. flaviventris Hendel, R. nigroapicalis Byun et Suh, sp. nov., R. cestoventris Byun et Suh, sp. nov., and R. apicalis Hendel. None of the above species were previously reported in Korea. We provide descriptions and illustrations of these five species as well as a key to all 11 Korean Rivellia species. We also analysed interspecific relationships among Korean Rivellia species using cladistic methods. We propose to recognize R. basilaris species-group based on the presence of two lateral occipital setae as a synpomorphy. The monophyly of the previously recognized R. syngenesiae species-group is also suported by a single synapomorphy (outer surstylus extending beyond apex of cercus).

      • Eight species of the tribe Eucosmini (Lepidoptera, Tortricidae, Olethreutinae) new to North Korea

        The first list of the family Tortricidae from North Korea was provided by Zhu(1969), including 16 species of the subfamily Olethreutinae. There had been no research on this group, until the report of Park and Byun (1991) with 9 additional species. And Jaros et al.(1992) reported 17 previously unrecorded species, including 4 of Eucosmini. Byun et al. (1998) made a illustrated catalogue of Korean Tortricidae containing 350 species. In 1999, Razowski provided a list of 358 tortricid species in the Korean Peninsula, including 87 species of the subfamily Olethreutinae from North Korea. Among them 29 species of the tribe Eucosmini were included as them to be distributed in North Korea. In this study, we report eight previously unrecorded species of the tribe Eucosmini from North Korea, based on the examination of the material deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum. The species, which are known for the first time from North Korea in this study, are as follows. 1. Ancylis melanostigma Kuznetsov 2. Ancylis sativa Liu 3. Eucoenogenes japonica Kawabe 4. Eucosma glebana (Snellen) 5. Notocelia rosaecolana (Doubleday) 6. Rhopobota ustomaculana (Curtis) 7. Spilonota ocellana (Denis et Schiffermüller) 8. Zeiraphera lariciana Kawabe

      • Taxonomic Review of the Genus Spilonota (Lepidoptera, Tortricidae, Olethreutinae) from North Korea

        Genus Spilonota is a small group of the family Tortricidae, including over 29 described species worldwide (Brown, 2005). Most larvae of the genus feed on various plant families including Pinaceae, Rosaceae, Leguminosae, Betulaceae, Salicaceae, and Juglandaceae, with economical importance (Park, 1983, Zhang & Li, 2005). Even though this genus has been relatively well investigated in East Asia: five species from South Korea (Byun et al., 2009); ten species from China (Zhang & Li, 2005); eight species from Russian Far East (Kuznetsov, 2001); thirteen species including four unidentified species from Japan (Kawabe, 1982, Oku, 2003), it has been very poorly studied from North Korea with only two recorded species to date (Razowski, 1999, Byun et al., 2009) The aim of the present study is to clarify the fauna of the genus Spilonota from North Korea, including two new records, based on the material deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest, Hungary (HNHM). In the present study, the author examined all available material from North Korea. In this study, four species of Spilonota are recognized. Among them, two species, Spilonota lechriaspis Meyrick, 1932 and Spilonota ocellana (Denis et Schiffermüller, 1775), are reported for the first time from North Korea. A key to the species is provided. Photos of adults and the genitalia are provided with brief comments on the distribution.

      • Using Fuzzy Numbers to Evaluate Service Quality of Hotel and Lodging Industry

        Fuzzy model has been applied to economics, sociology, management studies, psychology, and linguistics for decision-making under vague situations and specification of vague objects, and setup of vague model or structure. New method of measuring perceived service quality based on triangular fuzzy numbers in proposed in this study. Hamming distance method and Dubois's methodology were used for our study to establish the validity of decision-making in each lodging attribute. We replace perceptions by satisfaction degree as well as expectation by importance degree. To evaluate the discrepancy between tourist's satisfaction and impotance degree. we infer general solutions to compute the intersection area between to triangular fuzzy numbers, then the weak and/or strong attributes of lodging houses are clarified. Therefore, this study introduces a general concept of fuzzy theory through literature review of linguistic expressions and possibility theory. In terms of methodology this study disclosed that fuzzy model approach is greatly useful to evaluate perceived service quality. Our method overcome linguistic problems and this study provides more objective information for lodging industry in Kyongju.
