HYPERBOLIC SPINOR DARBOUX EQUATIONS OF SPACELIKE CURVES IN MINKOWSKI 3-SPACE
Balci, Yakup,Erisir, Tulay,Gungor, Mehmet Ali Chungcheong Mathematical Society 2015 충청수학회지 Vol.28 No.4
In this paper, we study on spinors with two hyperbolic components. Firstly, we express the hyperbolic spinor representation of a spacelike curve dened on an oriented (spacelike or time-like) surface in Minkowski space ${\mathbb{R}}^3_1$. Then, we obtain the relation between the hyperbolic spinor representation of the Frenet frame of the spacelike curve on oriented surface and Darboux frame of the surface on the same points. Finally, we give one example about these hyperbolic spinors.

This article investigates the longitudinal vibration of a nanorod embedded in viscoelastic medium according to the nonlocal strain gradient theory. Viscoelastic medium is considered based on Kelvin-Voigt model. Governing partial differential equation is derived based on longitudinal equilibrium and analytical solution is obtained by adopting harmonic motion solution for the nanorod. Modal frequencies and corresponding damping ratios are presented to demonstrate the influences of nonlocal parameter, material length scale, elastic and damping parameters of the viscoelastic medium. It is observed that material length scale parameter is very influential on modal frequencies especially at lower values of nonlocal parameter whereas increase in length scale parameter has less effect at higher values of nonlocal parameter when the medium is purely elastic. Elastic stiffness and damping coefficient of the medium have considerable impacts on modal frequencies and damping ratios, and the highest impact of these parameters on frequency and damping ratio is seen in the first mode. Results calculated based on strain gradient theory are quite different from those calculated based on classical elasticity theory. Hence, nonlocal strain gradient theory including length scale parameter can be used to get more accurate estimations of frequency response of nanorods embedded in viscoelastic medium.

In this study, estimation of some physical properties of a laminated composite plate was conducted via the inverse vibration problem. Laminated composite plate was modelled and simulated to obtain vibration responses for different length-to-thickness ratio in ANSYS. Furthermore, a numerical finite element model was developed for the laminated composite utilizing the Kirchhoff plate theory and programmed in MATLAB for simulations. Optimizing the difference between these two vibration responses, inverse vibration problem was solved to obtain some of the physical properties of the laminated composite using genetic algorithms. The estimated parameters are compared with the theoretical results, and a very good correspondence was observed.

Mechanics of dynamic contact of coated substrate and rigid cylindrical ended punch
Mehmet N. Balci,Serkan Dag 대한기계학회 2019 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.33 No.5
The dynamic contact mechanics of isotropic elastic coating bonded to homogeneous substrate was examined. The coating is indented by a sliding rigid punch of a cylindrical profile. The rigid punch moves over the coating at a steady subsonic speed. To determine contact stresses, an analytical method based on the singular integral equation technique is put forward. Governing partial differential equations are derived considering general theory of elastodynamics. The influences of dimensionless punch speed, mass density ratio, shear modulus, coefficient of friction, relative coating thickness and Poisson’s ratio on contact stresses and contact related parameters were found. Comparison of the contact stresses computed by elastodynamic and elastostatic theories clearly shows that the relative difference between these two results is quite remarkable. Hence, in sliding contact problems incorporating punches with relatively high speed, elastodynamic theory is required to find more realizable stress results.

Calcinosis cutis is a condition characterized by the deposition of calcium salts in the skin and subcutaneous tissues, and patients suffering from it encounter various connective tissue disorders, such as dermatomyositis (DM), scleroderma, and systemic lupus erythematosus. Although calcinosis cutis is frequently accompanied by juvenile dermatomyositis, rare cases have been reported in adult patients with DM. On the other hand, lichen sclerosus (LS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin and mucosal surfaces. In the present report, we present a rare case of a 71-year-old patient with DM accompanied by ulcerated calcinosis cutis and vulvar LS. (Ann Dermatol 23(S3) S375~ S379, 2011)

Objective: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) can be given as the form of acute, continuation or maintenance ECT according to the process of administration. We report our 7 years’ observation with acute and maintenance ECT in a university hospital in Turkey. Methods: The medical records of the hospitalized patients treated with acute or maintenance ECT between the years 2007 and 2013 was retrospectively analyzed. The sociodemographic characteristics, diagnosis, data of ECT and the co-administered psychotropic drugs were recorded. The frequency of ECT was calculated by identifying the total number of the hospitalized patients during the study period from the hospital records. Results: A total number of 1,432 female and 1,141 male patients hospitalized in a period of 7 years, with a total number of 111 patients treated with ECT. The ratio of ECT was 4%, maintenance/acute ECT 11%. For acute ECT, affective disorders (65.3%) and psychotic disorders (21.6%) were among the leading diagnoses. Maintenance ECT, the diagnosis was; 6 affective disorders, 4 psychotic disorders and 1 obsessive compulsive disorder. There was a significant difference between the patients receiving acute and maintenance ECT in terms of age, duration of illness, and number of previous hospitalizations and ECTs. Conclusion: The percentage of patients treated with acute ECT is lower in our institution than that in many other institutions from our country. Acute and maintenance ECT should be considered as an important treatment option particularly for patients with long disease duration, a high number of hospitalizations and a history of benefiting from previous ECTs.

Ensuring the removal of complex dyes from wastewater is a topic of great interest as it is vital for the environment. The present study reports a facile preparation method for poly(o-phenylenediamine) [p(o-PDA)] micro-particles loaded tomagnetic carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) hydrogel beads as adsorbents. The prepared products were characterized by FTIR,TGA, VSM, SEM, BET, and zeta sizer. The Fe3O4@p(o-PDA)@CMC beads were used for the removal of Reactive Blue 4(RB-4) and Congo Red (CR) textile dyes from an aqueous medium. Different factors, such as adsorbent dose, initial pH, ionicstrength, contact time, temperatures, and initial RB-4 and CR concentrations were examined. The maximum adsorptioncapacities of the RB-4 dye and CR at optimum pH 5 reached 398.7 and 524.6 mg/g in 120 min, respectively. The adsorptionof RB-4 and CR on the hybrid magnetic beads can be due to the electrostatic, hydrogen bonding, and π-π interactions. Moreover, the magnetic hybrid beads showed easy regeneration ability and good reusability. The adsorbent can be a verygood candidate for the efficient removal of micro-pollutant from wastewater.
