Factor VLeiden and Prothrombin G20210A Gene Polymorphisms in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

        Bahadir Ercan,Lulufer Tamer,Nehir Sucu,Hasan Pekdemir,Ahmet Camsarı,Ugur Atik 연세대학교의과대학 2008 Yonsei medical journal Vol.49 No.2

Purpose: The precise molecular mechanisms culminating in coronary artery disease (CAD) are not well understood, despite a wealth of knowledge on predisposing risk factors and pathomechanisms. CAD and myocardial infarction (MI) are complex genetic diseases; neither the environment alone, nor a single gene, cause disease, rather, a mix of environmental and genetic factors lead to atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries. Materials and Methods: In the present study, our aim was to investigate the roles of prothrombin G20210A mutation and Factor VLeiden mutation in atherosclerotic coronary artery disease. 287 subjects (106 control subjects, who were angiographically normal, and 181 angiographically documented coronary atherosclerotic patients who exhibited coronary artery narrowing to a degree of ≥50%) were included in this study. The mutations were assessed with LightCycler Real- Time PCR mutation detection kits (Roche Diagnostics, GmbH, Germany). Results: 6.6% of control subjects, and 6.1% of patients with (50% coronary artery narrowing were determined to have the Factor VLeiden heterozygote mutation. 6.6% of control subjects had the Prothrombin G20210A heterozygote mutation, while 7.7% of patients with (50% coronary artery narrowing had this mutation. The OR for Factor VLeiden was 1.52 (CI: 0.240-9.602) and for Prothrombin G20210A mutation, the OR was 1.415 (CI: 0.287-6.962). Conclusion: Although both the heterozygote Factor VLeiden and Prothrombin gene mutations were more frequent in patients with CAD than in control subjects, there was no statistical relationship found to exist between coronary artery disease and the Factor VLeiden and Prothrombin G20210A mutations.

Evaluation of the repair capacities and color stabilities of a resin nanoceramic and hybrid CAD/CAM blocks

Bahadir, Hasibe Sevilay,Bayraktar, Yusuf The Korean Academy of Prosthodonitics 2020 The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics Vol.12 No.3

PURPOSE. This study evaluated the color stabilities of two computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) blocks and a nanofill composite resin and the microtensile bond strength (µTBS) between the materials. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Twelve specimens of 4 mm height were prepared for both Lava Ultimate (L) and Vita Enamic (E) CAD/CAM blocks. Half of the specimens were thermocycled (10,000 cycle, 5° to 55℃) for each material. Both thermocycled and non-thermocycled specimens were surface treated with one of the three different methods (Er,Cr:YSGG laser, bur, or control). For each surface treatment group, one of the thermocycled and one of non-thermocycled specimens were restored using silane (Ceramic Primer II), universal adhesive (Single Bond Universal), and nanofill composite resin of 4-mm height (Filtek Ultimate). The other specimens were restored with the same procedure without using silane. For each group, 1 × 1 × 8 mm bar specimens were prepared using a microcutting device. Bar specimens were thermocycled (10,000 cycle, 5° to 55℃) and microtensile tests were performed. Staining of the materials in coffee solution was also compared using a spectrophotometer. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, t-test and post-hoc Scheffe tests. RESULTS. µTBS were found similar between the thermocycled and non-thermocycled groups (P>.05). The highest µTBS (20.818 MPa) was found in the non-thermocycled, bur-ground, silane-applied E group. Silane increased µTBS at some E groups (P<.05). Composite resin specimens showed more staining than CAD/CAM blocks (P<.05). CONCLUSION. CAD/CAM blocks can be repaired with composite resins after proper surface treatments. Using silane is recommended in repair process. Color differences may be shown between CAD/CAM blocks and the nanofill composite after a certain time period.

Effect of constraint on fracture behavior of welded 17mn4 and aisi304 steels

Bahadir Uyulgan,Hakan Cetinel,Tevfik Aksoy 대한기계학회 2011 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.25 No.9

In this study, 17Mn4 (P295GH) pressure vessels steel and AISI304 stainless steel were welded with ER309L austenitic consumable. In experimental part of the study, tensile tests were conducted on welded plates and variation of hardness values along specimen was measured. J-integral fracture toughness values were investigated for different crack locations. In order to determine the regions where plastic deformation did not take place due to constraint, uni-axial tensile test was performed on welded tensile specimen after attaching strain gauges. In numerical part of the study, finite element (FE) analyses were conducted by fixing 2-D models precracked on different locations by using ANSYS software. In these models, stress triaxiality and plastic deformation characteristics around crack tip were determined for each crack locations after stress – strain analyses. The limitation on the extension of plastic deformation at diffusion line causes extra increase in stress triaxiality at crack tip.

Assessment of non-prismatic beams having symmetrical parabolic haunches with constant haunch length ratio of 0.5

        S. Bahadir Yuksel 국제구조공학회 2012 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.42 No.6

Single span historic bridges often contain non-prismatic members identified with a varying depth along their span lengths. Commonly, the symmetric parabolic height variations having the constant haunch length ratio of 0.5 have been selected to lower the stresses at the high bending moment points and to maintain the deflections within the acceptable limits. Due to their non-prismatic geometrical configuration, their assessment, particularly the computation of fixed-end horizontal forces (FEFs) and fixed-end moments (FEMs) becomes a complex problem. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the behavior of non-prismatic beams with symmetrical parabolic haunches (NBSPH) having the constant haunch length ratio of 0.5 using finite element analyses (FEA). FEFs and FEMs due to vertical loadings as well as the stiffness coefficients and the carry-over factors were computed through a comprehensive parametric study using FEA. It was demonstrated that the conventional methods using frame elements can lead to significant errors, and the deviations can reach to unacceptable levels for these types of structures. Despite the robustness of FEA, the generation of FEFs and FEMs using the nodal outputs of the detailed finite element mesh still remains an intricate task. Therefore, this study advances to propose effective formulas and dimensionless estimation coefficients to predict the FEFs, FEMs, stiffness coefficients and carry-over factors with reasonable accuracy for the analysis and re-evaluation of the NBSPH. Using the proposed approach, the fixed-end reactions due to vertical loads, and also the stiffness coefficients and the carry-over factors of the NBSPH can be determined without necessitating the detailed FEA.

Behavior of symmetrically haunched non-prismatic members subjected to temperature changes

        S. Bahadir Yuksel 국제구조공학회 2009 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.31 No.3

When the temperature of a structure varies, there is a tendency to produce changes in the shape of the structure. The resulting actions may be of considerable importance in the analysis of the structures having non-prismatic members. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the modeling, analysis and behavior of the non-prismatic members subjected to temperature changes with the aid of finite element modeling. The fixed-end moments and fixed-end forces of such members due to temperature changes were computed through a comprehensive parametric study. It was demonstrated that the conventional methods using frame elements can lead to significant errors, and the deviations can reach to unacceptable levels for these types of structures. The design formulas and the dimensionless design coefficients were proposed based on a comprehensive parametric study using two-dimensional plane-stress finite element models. The fixed-end actions of the non-prismatic members having parabolic and straight haunches due to temperature changes can be determined using the proposed approach without necessitating a detailed finite element model solution. Additionally, the robust results of the finite element analyses allowed examining the sources and magnitudes of the errors in the conventional analysis.

        Ƞ-RICCI SOLITONS ON TRANS-SASAKIAN MANIFOLDS WITH QUARTER-SYMMETRIC NON-METRIC CONNECTION

        ( Oğuzhan Bahadir ),( Mohd Danish Siddiqi ),( Mehmet Akif Akyol ) 호남수학회 2020 호남수학학술지 Vol.42 No.3

In this paper, firstly we discuss some basic axioms of trans Sasakian manifolds. Later, the trans-Sasakian manifold with quarter symmetric non-metric connection are studied and its cur- vature tensor and Ricci tensor are calculated. Also, we study the Ƞ-Ricci solitons on a Trans-Sasakian Manifolds with quarter- symmetric non-metric connection. Indeed, we investigated that the Ricci and Ƞ-Ricci solitons with quarter-symmetric non-metric con- nection satisfying the conditions □.□ = 0. In a particular case, when the potential vector field ξ of the Ƞ-Ricci soliton is of gradi- ent type ξ = grad(ψ), we derive, from the Ƞ-Ricci soliton equation, a Laplacian equation satisfied by ψ. Finally, we furnish an exam- ple for trans-Sasakian manifolds with quarter-symmetric non-metric connection admitting the Ƞ-Ricci solitons.

SOME NOTES ON LP-SASAKIAN MANIFOLDS WITH GENERALIZED SYMMETRIC METRIC CONNECTION

        ( Oğuzhan Bahadir ),( Sudhakar K. Chaubey ) 호남수학회 2020 호남수학학술지 Vol.42 No.3

The present study initially identify the generalized sym- metric connections of type (α;β), which can be regarded as more generalized forms of quarter and semi-symmetric connections. The quarter and semi-symmetric connections are obtained respectively when (α;β) = (1; 0) and (α;β) = (0; 1). Taking that into ac- count, a new generalized symmetric metric connection is attained on Lorentzian para-Sasakian manifolds. In compliance with this connection, some results are obtained through calculation of tensors belonging to Lorentzian para-Sasakian manifold involving curvature tensor, Ricci tensor and Ricci semi-symmetric manifolds. Finally, we consider CR-submanifolds admitting a generalized symmetric metric connection and prove many interesting results.
