Critical Review of Flexible Pavement Performance Models

Ankit Gupta,Praveen Kumar,Rajat Rastogi 대한토목학회 2014 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.18 No.1

Maintenance and repair of the highway network system are major expenses in the state budget. For this reason various concerned organizations are pointing out the need for developing an intelligent and efficient pavement performance model that can prioritize pavement maintenance and rehabilitation works. Such models can forecast the remaining pavement service life and pavement rehabilitation needs, and can help in the formulation of pavement maintenance and strengthening programmes which will reduce the road agency and road user costs. The flexible pavement performance or deterioration models involve the complex interaction between vehicles and the environment, and the structure and surface of the pavement. Performance models relating to the pavement distress conditions like, cracking, raveling, potholing, and roughness are analyzed and developed by various researchers. But most of these models are found applicable to a particular set of traffic or environment conditions, thus highlighting the need of model(s) that can work in varied conditions satisfactorily. The paper presents a detailed review of various pavement performance models to examine the role of factors related to pavement materials, environmental conditions, type of traffic and volume of traffic, and to identify the limitations and gaps in the present knowledge on such models.

Replacement of hazard lubricants by green coolant in machining of Ti6Al4V: A 3D FEM approach

Ankit Jain,Sanu Kumar,Vivek Bajpai,Hyung Wook Park 한국정밀공학회 2019 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.20 No.6

Metalworking fluids (MWF’s) are frequently used for cooling and lubrication during machining processes in manufacturing industries. MWF’s such as soluble straight oils, synthetic oils, solid lubricants, bio lubricants contain a mix of water and mineral oil with some percentage of vegetable oils and petroleum. These MWF’s are hazardous for the environment and for human health. After using, the lubricants are disposed into the environment by burning or by dumping on the ground or in the sea water. Burning the lubricant creates pollution and airborne disease. To avoid these harmful effects of the lubricants sustainable machining technique is implemented in machining processes. In the present study, liquid nitrogen (green coolant) is used as a sustainable machining technique for cooling and lubrication. Finite element modeling is used to simulate the micro-end milling at different conditions of the workpiece (cryogenic plus preheated and cryogenic). The analysis of chip morphology and cutting forces measurement were done by applying these conditions. The predicted model is validated with the experimental results. It was observed that cryogenic with preheated workpiece (473 K) is the optimum condition with the application of green coolant. This study will clarify the behavior of cryogenic on the machining conditions and will solve the environmental problems.

Early experience with robot-assisted Frey’s procedure surgical outcome and technique: Indian perspective

        Ankit Shukla,Senthil Gnanasekaran,Raja Kalayarasan,Biju Pottakkat 대한내시경로봇외과학회 2022 Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery Vol.25 No.4

Purpose: Robotic surgery for pancreatic diseases is currently on the rise, feasible, well-accepted, and safe. Frequently performed procedures in relation to pancreatic diseases include distal pancreatectomy and pancreatoduodenectomy. The literature commonly describes robotic lateral pancreaticojejunostomy; however, data on robot-assisted Frey’s is scarce. Methods: We herein, describe our series and technique of robot-assisted Frey’s procedure at our tertiary care center between November 2019 and March 2022, and its short-term outcomes in comparison to the open Frey’s. Patients with chronic pancreatitis having intractable pain, dilated duct, and no evidence of inflammatory head mass or malignancy were included in the study for robot-assisted Frey’s. Results: In our study, out of 32 patients, nine patients underwent robot assisted Frey’s procedure. The duration of surgery was significantly longer in robotic group (570 minutes vs. 360 minutes, p = 0.003). The medians of intraoperative blood loss and postoperative analgesic requirement were lower in robotic group, but the difference was not statistically significant (250 mL vs. 350 mL, p = 0.400 and 3 days vs. 4 days, p = 0.200, respectively). The median length of hospital stay was shorter in the robotic group, though not significant (6 days vs. 7 days, p = 0.540). At a median follow-up of 28 months, there was no significant difference in the postoperative complications and short-term outcomes between the two groups. Conclusion: Robotic surgery offers benefits of laparoscopic surgery in addition it has better visualization, magnification, dexterity, and ergonomics. Frey’s procedure is possible robotically with acceptable outcomes in selected patients.

      • Evaluating SPARQL Query on Semantic Data Store in Cloud Platform

Ankit Kulkarni,Mayur Sagavkar,Anupriya Elumalai,N.Ch.S.N Iyengar 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.8 No.4

Cloud computing provides virtualization of services, has enabled opportunities for integration and collaboration of many e-businesses around world. Also, semantic web technology has been evolving in parallel, which uses RDF and OWL as storage formats for business data. Integration of semantic web technology on cloud platform provides an efficient way of managing data for e-commerce based applications. Many databases storage approaches have been proposed for e-commerce applications. However, there is a need to model the data storage based on semantic information so that the access to data store based on semantic behavior of user context and past history. The proposed work models a mobile phone e-commerce application which uses RDF data store which is maintained in cloud environment. SPARQL queries are used for access and retrieval mechanism.

Endodontic treatment of a mandibular first molar with 8 canals: a case report

        Ankit Arora,Shashi Rashmi Acharya,Padmaja Sharma 대한치과보존학회 2015 Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics Vol.40 No.1

Presented here is a case where 8 canals were located in a mandibular first molar. A patient with continuing pain in mandibular left first molar even after completion of biomechanical preparation was referred by a dentist. Following basic laws of the pulp chamber floor anatomy, 8 canals were located in three steps with 4 canals in each root. In both of the roots, 4 separate canals commenced which joined into two canals and exited as two separate foramina. At 6 mon follow-up visit, the tooth was found to be asymptomatic and revealed normal radiographic periapical area. The case stresses on the fact that understanding the laws of pulp chamber anatomy and complying with them while attempting to locate additional canals can prevent missing canals.

Bond Behavior in Flexural Members: Numerical Studies

        Ankit Bhardwaj,Vasant Matsagar,A.K. Nagpal,Sandeep Chaudhary 한국강구조학회 2021 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.21 No.1

Adhesive bonding has recently emerged as an alternative to shear stud connection in steel–concrete composite fl exural members. Research on adhesive-bonded steel–concrete composite fl exural members is in a preliminary stage, and the behavior of the bond layer in these structures is not well understood yet. A three-dimensional fi nite element model is developed and used to conduct the parametric investigations. The developed model is validated with experimental results available in the literature. The behavior of the bond layer is defi ned in terms of normal stress, normal strain, shear stress, and shear strain. Seven diff erent parameters are studied regarding their eff ect on the behavior of the bond layer. The parameters include load proportion factor, longitudinal distribution of load, transverse distribution of load, width of concrete slab, depth of the concrete slab, Young’s modulus of the adhesive and transverse location of the adhesive fi ber. Parametric investigations are carried out to establish the relevance of parameters in terms of their eff ect on the behavior of the bond layer. The most signifi cant parameters are identifi ed as load proportion factor, longitudinal distribution of load, and Young’s modulus of adhesive.

CLAIRAUT POINTWISE SLANT RIEMANNIAN SUBMERSION FROM NEARLY KAHLER MANIFOLDS

        Ankit Yadav,Gauree Shanker 호남수학회 2023 호남수학학술지 Vol.45 No.1

In the present article, we introduce pointwise slant Riemannian submersion from nearly K¨ahler manifold to Riemannian manifold. We established the conditions for fibers to be totally geodesic. We also find necessary and sufficient conditions for pointwise slant submersion φ to be a harmonic and totally geodesic. Further, we study clairaut pointwise slant Riemannian submersion from nearly K¨ahler manifold to Riemannian manifold. We derive the clairaut conditions for φ such that φ is a clairaut map. Finally, one example is constructed which demonstrates existence of clairaut pointwise slant submersion from nearly K¨ahler manifold to Riemannian manifold
