Background/Aims: Biochemical parameters and acutephase proteins (APPs) may provide complementary data in patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC). We aimed to evaluate the predictive role of APPs in the response to antiviral therapy. Methods: Forty-five patients underwent antiviral therapy. Serum ferritin, C-reactive protein (CRP), transferrin, albumin, alpha-1 acid glycoprotein (A1AG), and alpha-2 macroglobulin (A2MG) levels were examined at the initial evaluation and at the 4th, 12th, and 48th weeks. HCV RNA levels were examined at the initial evaluation and at the 12th and 48th weeks. Results: Ferritin, transferrin, A1AG, and A2MG levels were significantly higher in the patient group (p<0.05). CRP, ferritin, A1AG, and A2MG levels were significantly increased from baseline to the 4th week (p<0.05). The responders and nonresponders to antiviral therapy had insignificantly but remarkably different levels of CRP, ferritin, transferrin, A1AG, A2MG, and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) both at the initial evaluation and at the 12th week. Conclusions: Variations in ferritin, A1AG, A2MG, albumin, CRP, and transferrin levels are not alternatives to virological and biochemical parameters for predicting an early response to therapy in patients with CHC. However, the investigation of ALT levels and hepatitis C virus RNA in combination with acute-phase reactants may provide supplementary data for evaluating responses to antiviral therapy. Pap Smear Screening Results for Turkish Pregnant Women
Dinc, Ayten Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.11
Objective: Cervix cancer is one of the most common gynecological cancer types that cause cancer deaths among women. This study was planned based on a descriptive method in order to evaluate the results of PAP smear screening during pregnancy for prevention of cancer. Materials and Methods: The research involved 110 pregnant women registered at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Polyclinic of Bagcilar Training and Research Hospital and 86 non-pregnant women of the same ages as a control group. As criteria for acceptance were conditions such as not being in coitus within the last 48 hours, not using vaginal ovule, and not performing vaginal lavage. A survey consisting of 33 questions was conducted and the results were processed using Bethesda. Results: The average ages were $27.1{\pm}4.70$ for the pregnant women and $28.8{\pm}4.24$ for the control group. 60.7% of cases had previously heard of a PAP smear test, 49% were aware of why PAP smear tests were conducted, 26.4% of pregnant participants and 27.3% of non-pregnant participants had previously undergone a smear test. In this study, smear results of all cases were 95.4% sufficient. 18.2% of pregnant cases had an infection, 54.5% had reactive cellular change, and 0.9% had atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US). 16.3% of non-pregnant cases had an infection, 58.1% had reactive cellular change, 3.5% had atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US), and 1.2% had low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LGSIL). Conclusion: PAP smear test is a good opportunity to identify pre-invasive lesions in early phases of pregnancy.
Adsorption and column flotation studies on talc using anionic and cationic collectors
Hulya Kursun,Ayten Ates 한국화학공학회 2010 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.27 No.6
Adsorption properties and column flotation were studied to investigate the interaction of the anionic and cationic collectors and flotation recoveries for talc mineral. Adsorption capacity is dependent on pH, adsorption time, temperature, collector concentration, and particle size. Langmuir adsorption model was suitable for describing isotherms. Analyses were carried out using UV spectrometry. In this study, we analyzed some parameters affecting column flotation performance. It was determined that adsorption capacity, especially, had an important role in column flotation enrichment.

Bacilysin is a dipeptide antibiotic composed of L-alanine and L-anticapsin produced by certain strains of Bacillus subtilis. Bacilysin is gaining increasing attention in industrial agriculture and pharmaceutical industries due to its potent antagonistic effects on various bacterial, fungal, and algal pathogens. However, its use in industrial applications is hindered by its low production in the native producer. The biosynthesis of bacilysin is mainly based on the bacABCDEF operon. Examination of the sequence surrounding the upstream of the bac operon did not reveal a clear, strong ribosome binding site (RBS). Therefore, in this study, we aimed to investigate the impact of RBS as a potential route to improve bacilysin production. For this, the 5’ untranslated region (5’UTR) of the bac operon was edited using the CRISPR/Cas9 approach by introducing a strong ribosome binding sequence carrying the canonical Shine-Dalgarno sequence (TAAGGAGG) with an 8 nt spacing from the AUG start codon. Strong RBS substitution resulted in a 2.87-fold increase in bacilysin production without affecting growth. Strong RBS substitution also improved the mRNA stability of the bac operon. All these data revealed that extensive RBS engineering is a promising key option for enhancing bacilysin production in its native producers.
NEW BOUNDS FOR FUNDAMENTAL UNITS AND CLASS NUMBERS OF REAL QUADRATIC FIELDS
Isikay, Sevcan,Pekin, Ayten Korean Mathematical Society 2021 대한수학회보 Vol.58 No.5
In this paper, we present new bounds on the fundamental units of real quadratic fields ${\mathbb{Q}}({\sqrt{d}})$ using the continued fraction expansion of the integral basis element of the field. Furthermore, we apply these bounds to Dirichlet's class number formula. Consequently, we provide computational advantages to estimate the class numbers of such fields. We also give some numerical examples.
Caregiver Burden and Perceived Social Support among Caregivers of Patients with Cancer
Kahriman, Fatma,Zaybak, Ayten Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.8
The purpose of this study is to describe the relationship between caregiver burden and perceived social support among caregivers of patients with cancer. The research was conducted in a university hospital in ${\dot{I}}zmir$, Turkey. Eighty patient relatives who provided care service to patients with cancer who were admitted at hematology and oncology clinics participated in the study. The findings indicated that the care burden score was mild level. The mean of the perceived social support score was $58.4{\pm}21.0$ supporting the conclusion that there is a weak and negative-direct relation between caregiver and perceived social support and that as the perceived social support increased, conversely, care burden decreased.

Arithmetic rough statistical convergence for triple sequences
A. Esi,N. Subramanian,Ayten Esi 원광대학교 기초자연과학연구소 2019 ANNALS OF FUZZY MATHEMATICS AND INFORMATICS Vol.17 No.3
In this paper, using the concept of natural density, we introduce the notion of arithmetic rough statistical convergence of triple sequences. We define the set of arithmetic rough statistical limit points of a triple sequence and obtain arithmetic rough statistical convergence criteria associated with this set. Later, we prove this set is closed and convex and also examine the relations between the set of arithmetic rough statistical cluster points and the set of arithmetic rough statistical limit points of a triple sequence.

We introduce and study some basic properties of rough $I_{\lambda}% -$statistical convergent of weight $g\left( A\right) $, where $g:\mathbb{N}% ^{3}\rightarrow\left[ 0,\infty\right) $ is a function statisying $g\left( m,n,k\right) \rightarrow\infty$ and $g\left( m,n,k\right) \not \rightarrow 0$ as $m,n,k\rightarrow\infty$ and $A$ represent the RH-regular matrix and also prove the Korovkin approximation theorem by using the notion of weighted A-statistical convergence of weight $g\left( A\right) $ limits of a triple sequence of Bernstein-Stancu polynomials.
