The development of self-powered sensors based on the contact of liquid droplets on a solid surface is getting the spotlight as a key application of the Liquid-to-Solid interacting triboelectric platform (L-S TEP). However, usually the current signal generated from the L-S TEP has low amplitude, so signal amplification is needed. In this study, the current signal amplification strategy, which shortens the electric charge transfer time by controlling the dynamics of the droplet with the utilization of the spatially heterogeneous wettability (HeW) surface on the contact layer of the L-S TEP is proposed. About 48 times larger current signal can be generated with the charge transferring channel widening resulted from the widened interface of the droplet when encountered the wettability boundary generated with porous cellulose membrane. With this current signal amplification, the utilization of the HeW surface-assisted L-S TEP (HeW-TEP) as a self-powered electrolyte concentration and pH sensor with enlarged sensitivity can be proposed. In addition, the ubiquitous data perusal can be accomplished via the sensor module packed with the HeW-TEP, BLE module, and MCU module. This study proposes a practical utilization of the L-S TEP with current signal amplification strategy based on the dynamics of the electric charges.

In this paper, the predictions of ring compression obtained by various commercialized softwares including ABAQUS, AFDEX, DEFORM, FORGE and SIMUFACT are compared. Except AFDEX, the predictions obtained by Hatzenbichler et al. were employed. Variations of the deformed shapes with coefficient of Coulomb friction and the minimum inner radius with stroke are compared in detail, revealing that the predictions are more or less different from each other. As emphasized by Hatzenbichler et al., this study is aimed not at evaluating the accuracy of the commercialized softwares but at emphasizing the difference of predictions itself. The accuracy of Coulomb friction for AFDEX 2D is tried to be checked by investigating stress components at the die-material interface.
