Much signaling equipments are installed along railway tracks, and these are working in cooperation with each other, referring to other signaling equipment status. Existing railway signaling system uses signal cables to transmit this information. This system requires high cost for construction and have the problems like many faults from mistakes in cable connection, etc. To solve these problems, JREast Inc. has developed a new signaling system based on network technology, utilizing Ethernet-Passive Optical Network(E-PON). In this paper, we review the system proposed by JREast Inc. and field test results performed on railway.

This study analysed testing method for performance verification in the phase of signalling system development for application in the Light Rail Transit(LRT). The main focus in this study therefore includes development of vehicle location detection system by first GPS and analysis of performance verification method by field testing. The comprehensive testing method has been analysed for the signalling system for LRT high speed operation. The signalling system for LRT high speed operation deals with vehicle location identification through vehicle location information using the second GPS and decision for whether the high speed proceed signal and departure inhibition output is feasible or not and for signalling output to the corresponding vehicle.

The level crossing collision accident which comprises more than 90 percent of all level crossing accidents is one of the most serious safety problems. There is a critical need for providing safe strategy and is focusing on the level crossing information rather than measures at a grade crossing. This study is intended to develop technology for accident prevention and damage reduction based on accident cases analysis result and improvement direction to complement shortcomings of safety equipment of conventional level crossing and to establish safety of travelers(train, motor vehicle, person).

Communication Based Train Control System supports the easy maintenance & management and also have the capability to send more informations than the existing one but is less expensive. Tolerance against fault/failure and reliable data transmission are very important issues with this system since it has the responsibility of man"s safety. In this paper, we suggested the schemes to support the reliable transmission quality and fault safety. Also we verified through simulation.
