Using artificial neural network (ANN) technique, auction prices for common mackerel were forecasted with the daily total sale and auction price data at the Busan Cooperative Fish Market before introducing Total Allowable Catch (TAC) system, when catch data had no limit in Korea. Virtual input data produced from actual data were used to improve the accuracy of prediction and the suitable neural network was induced for the prediction. We tested 35 networks to be retained 10, and found good performance network with regression ratio of 0.904 and determination coefficient of 0.695. There were significant variations between training and verification errors in this network. Ideally, it should require more training cases to avoid overlearning, which leads to improve performance and makes the results more reliable. And the precision of prediction was improved when environmental factors including physical and biological variables were added. This network for prediction of price and catch was considered to be applicable for other fishes.
울진 바다목장 주변해역 연성기질 조하대에 서식하는 대형저서동물의 군집구조

본 연구는 울진 바다목장 해역에서 서식하는 대형저서동물의 생물다양성, 개체수 및 군집구조를 파악하기 위하여 실시되었다. 연구해역 연성기질 조하대에서 출현한 대형저서동물은 345종 8m-2에 단위면적당(m-2) 출현 개체수는 5,797개체이었다. 분류군별 출현 종수와 개체수에 있어서는 환형동물의 다모류가 각각 154종, 44.64%와 193,320개체, 83.37%의 점유율을 나타내 가장 우점하는 생물이었다. 한편 연구해역의 주요 우점종으로 다모류의 민얼굴갯지렁이(Spiophanes bombyx)는 124,385개체(평균 3,110±4,434개체 m-2), 53.64%의 점유율을 나타내었고, 다음으로 Magelona sp.1이 16,130개체 (평균 403±926개체 m-2)로 6.96%를 차지하였다. 이 밖에 이매패류의 Cadella semitorta, 다모류의 긴자락송곳갯지렁이 (Lumbrineris longifolia) 및 이매패류의 겨자씨조개 (Alveniusojianus)의 순서로 각각 6,325개체(2.73%), 5,010개체 (2.16%) 및 4,820개체 (2.08%)가 출현하였다. 한편 출현 종과 개체수의 자료를 근거로 대형저서동물의 군집구조 분석을 실시한 결과, 크게 2개의 그룹과 1개의 정점 (5월의 정점 4)으로 구분되었다. 이 가운데 그룹 1은모든 조사시기의 정점 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 및 9가 포함되었고, 환경적으로 30~60 m 내외의 수심과 세립질 퇴적물이 우세한 정점들이라는 공통점이 있었다. 또한 본 그룹에 속하는 대형저서동물은 총 282종(평균 66±15종)과 7,471개체 m-2의 밀도에 다모류의 Magelona sp.1, 긴자락송곳갯지렁이, 삼각모자갯지렁이(Scoloplos armiger), 꼬리대나무갯지렁이 (Praxillella affinis), 민숭대나무갯지렁이 (Maldanecristata)와 겨자씨조개 등이 주요한 구성종이었다. 반면 그룹 2는 모든 조사시기의 정점 1, 4, 7 및 10으로 구성되었고, 환경적으로 수심과 퇴적상은 각각 5m 내외의 조립질 퇴적물이 우세한 정점들이었다. 또한 생물적으로는 181종 (평균 37±18종)과 3,287개체 m-2를 나타내었고, 주요 우점종은 이매패류의 Cadella semitorta와 다모류의 Lumbrineriopsis sp.이었다. 이상을 종합해 보면, 연구해역에 서식하는 대형저서동물 군집은 연안으로 부터의 이격정도와 그에 따른 수심과 퇴적물의 조성차이에 의해 그 구조를 달리하고 있었다. In this study, we investigated the macrobenthic community structure and spatiotemporal variations in Uljin Marine Ranching area, East Sea of Korea. Macrobenthos were collected using a modified van Veen grab sampler from April to September 2013. Total number of species sampled was 345 and mean density was 5,797 ind. m-2, both of which were dominated by the polychaetes. The most dominant species were Spiophanes bombyx (53.64%), followed by Magelona sp.1 (6.96%), Cadella semitorta (2.73%), Lumbrineris longifolia (2.16%) and Alvenius ojianus (2.08%). Cluster analysis and nMDS ordination analysis based on the Bray-Curtis similarity identified 2 station groups. The group 1 (station 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 and 9) was characterized by high abundance of the polychaetes Magelona sp.1, Lumbrineris longifolia, Scoloplos armiger, Praxillella affinis, Maldane cristata and the bivalve Alvenius ojianus, with fine sediment above 30m water depth. On the other hand, the group 2 (station 1, 4, 7 and 10) was numerically dominated by the polychaete Lumbrineriopsis sp. and the bivalve Cadella semitorta, with coarse sediment below 5m water depth. Collectively, the macrobenthic community structure showed a distinct spatial trend, which seemed to be related to the water depth and sediment composition.
표지방류 조사를 통한 거제 외포 주변해역 대구 (Gadus macrocephalus) 자원량과 어획사망률 추정

We estimated the population size and fishing mortality of Pacific cod Gadus macrocephalus during the spawning season in waters off Woipo, Geoje Island, Korea, using a mark-recapture method. We marked and released 51 cod>50 cm in total length; six were recaptured by local fishermen during the period from December 15 to 31, 2009. The estimated population size was ca. 180,000 and the fishing mortality of the exploitable cod was 26%. Although we could assume a closed population due to the short survey period, we evaluated the uncertainty in the estimates by applying bootstrap resampling because the sample size was small. The estimated 95% confidence interval was 94,000-568,000 for the population size and 8-49% for fishing mortality. Our study demonstrated that the application of mark-recapture methods and bootstrap resampling can be useful in stock assessment for fisheries management in Korea, but requires a larger sample size, spatially extensive coverage, and sophisticated mark-recapture models based on a refined sampling design for reliable stock assessment and biological reference points in sustainable cod management.

Acoustical backscattering characteristics of Japanese anchovy can be estimated by Kirchhoffray mode model (KRM model) due to estimate exact body and swim-bladder shape of the fish, the samples were rapidly frozen by dry-ice and alcohol. X-ray photos for ventral and lateral direction for 6 samples were taken and the 3D coordinates of the body swim-bladder were estimated by digitizing from the photos. The angles between the axis of body and swim-bladder were about 9°at 38kHz and 7°at 120kHz, 200kHz. General formula of TS and BL estimated were <TS38kHz>〓20logBL-67.3, <TS120kHz>〓20logBL-66.6, <TS200kHz>〓20logBL -67.0. As a result, we confirmed KRM model is very useful to estimate TS (Target Strength) for design of experiment and it also can be applied to estimate the abundance of Japanese anchovy distributed by 2 frequency difference method in the survey area.

The common squid Todarodes pacificus is a dominant species in Korean waters, where it is captured preponderantly by the angling fishery. The spawning and nursery grounds of T. pacificus extend from the southern East Sea to the northern East China Sea. Consequently, the environmental conditions in this area during the spawning and nursery seasons might affect the abundance of T. pacificus. This study, analyzed the relationship between the distribution of zooplankton and the abundance of T. pacificus and variation in the squid angling fishing grounds in Korean waters. There was a positive relationship between the fluctuations in zooplankton and the catch per unit effort (CPUE; kg.day-1.person-1) of the angling fishery in the East Sea of Korea. The main fishing season is from July to December and the CPUE was closely related to the zooplankton biomass in April in the East Sea. Recently, the center of the squid jigging ground has moved drastically from the area around Ulleung Island to the northern East Sea. We postulate that the fishing grounds of the squid angling fishery will move farther north with climate change.

Macrofauna and community structure were investigated seasonally at five sites in subtidal zone of Uljin on the east coast of Korea from March 2010 to February 2013. A total of 146 species were collected and identified, including 67 molluscs, 27 arthropods, and 8,688 individuals, including 6,468 arthropods, 1,098 molluscs and 584 echinoderms. In the seasonal investigation, summer has been the highest in 96 species and 2,525 number of individuals. Site 4 was the highest species but number of individuals were the lowest (81 species with 1,377 number of individuals), whereas site 3 was the lowest species and number of individuals were the highest (45 Species with 2,213 number of individuals). These result indicate that Balanus species affected to richness and the other side a gastropod influence by diversity and evenness. And site 3 seems to be good habitate environment for Balanus as the result of 83.4% of Balanus rather than other sites.

The reproduction characteristics of hagfish Eptatretus burgeri were examined using individuals caught in the South Sea of Korea. The spawning season and size at minimum sexual maturity of this species were characterized based on a gonad-somatic index (GSI) and monthly variation egg size (long axis). From monthly variation of GSI, the spawning season was estimated to be from August to September. Developing eggs larger than 10 mm were found in March, and the largest egg size was found in July. The first spawning length was 34.2 cm TL. Batch fecundity ranged from 13 to 117 eggs for hagfish sized from 34.2 cm TL to 77.0 cm TL, respectively, and increased linearly with total length.

This paper describes the development of Target Simulator developed for performance test and failure detection of Imaging Infra-Red(IIR) seeker which is one of the most important equipments in specific cruise missile systems. The simulator makes it possible to test detecting and tracking performance for target, uniformity of IIR, FOV status and spatial resolving power. Besides, it includes several self-test functions and optic axis alignment methods to improve its own reliability.

Lots of fishery stocks are overexploited and the overcapacity exists in Korean fishing fleets. One of the reasons is technological development, which increases the efficiency of the vessels continuously. The analysis was conducted to identify the change of fishing power index to develop the vessel and gear technology that may have improved the fishing efficiency of the offshore large powered purse seine fishery from 1960s to 2010s. Gross tonnage and horse power per fishing vessel was increased annually. Fishing gear material was changed to the knotless webbing to settle faster. Fishing equipments was modernized and supply rate was also increased. Therefore the relative fishing power index in the offshore large powered purse seine fishery increased from 0.4 in 1970 to 1.0 in 1980, to 1.5 in 2000 and to 1.6 in 2010, but the rate of increase slowed down gradually. The results are expected to contribute to reasonable fishery stock management.
