This paper introduces the combined test results of the traction system for KHST(Korean High Speed Train. hereafter refer to KHST) The main purpose of this combined test is to verifythe performance of the traction system that is designed to operate up to maximum 350km/h speed. Combined test system consists of a traction transformer, two AC-DC PWM converters, a PWM Inverter, two traction motors and flywheel system Flywheel system represents equivalent model of the tram inertia Also traction control system and MASCON Interfaces are included<br/> Various kinds of experiments are performed to prove total traction system performance and detail waveforms are described<br/>

In Auxiliary block of high speed train power factor correction and harmonics reduction is very important issue for efficient energy transport. The GTO-equipped PWM converter is used for traction untill resently. But the rising power capability of IGBTs resently allows to build IGBT-equipped PWM converter with a considerably increased switching frequency. This paper presents switching pattern, control method, operation mode and tuned filter to reduce dc link voltage ripple for paralleled converter.

In this paper, AC electric vehicle propulsion system(Converter/Inverter) using high power semiconductor, IPM(Intelligent Power module) is proposed. 2-Parallel operation of two PWM converter is adopted for increasing capacity of system and the VVVF inverter control is used a mixed control algorithm, where the vector control strategy at low speed region and slip-frequency control strategy at high speed region. The proposed propulsion system is verified by experimental results with a 1,350㎾ converter and 1,100㎸A inverter with four 210㎾ traction motors.
