According to sailing condition, an exciting force for luminairie of naval vessels was measured and analyzed. A naval combat service support boat and P${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$(patrol killer guided missile) were selected as a target naval vessel. Due to their small size and fast speed, they received excessive vibration than other bigger naval vessels like destroyer. The vibration of luminairie was measured on their cruising and maximum speed. This could analyze exciting force for luminairie of naval vessels. Using this analyzed data, the validity of military standard for naval vessel was verified.

In this paper, we designed and fabricated LED navigation lights which can replace the existing ones immediately and overcome disadvantages due to use of conventional lamps. To decide the best arrangement and position of a LED module, optical systems of existing navigation lights were analyzed and refracted routes of rays were simulated. The electrical and optical characteristics of the fabricated LED navigation lights were measured and analyzed with a goniophotometer. To calculate ranges of visibility, the vertical and horizontal luminous intensity distributions were evaluated in accordance with the COLREGs (convention on the international regulation for preventing collisions at Sea). From the results, the proposed LED navigation lights showed suitable characteristics for marine environment with the power consumption reduced by 90% and the maximum luminous intensity increased by 20% compared to the existing navigation lights.

The shipboard working environment of navy vessel is very inferior to the ground working environment. For this reason, the crew of a navy vessel suffer from an occupational disease such as lumbar pain, hearing loss, etc. Although standard for navy vessel's environmental vibration is applied, the criterion of the environmental vibration is too high. So it doesn't help to improve habitability of crew. In this study, for improving its habitability of crew, the current vibration level of navy vessel was examined and the standard of navy vessel's environmental vibration was investigated.

This paper presents the design guide of LED luminaires to supplant fluorescent lamp (FL) luminaires for naval vessels. Several standards related to marine luminaires were considered and electrical, optical, and environmental requirements were analyzed. Based on the study results, we proposed a design concept of LED luminaires which can save power consumption by 43~51 [%] and can increase luminous flux up to 7~10 [%].
