This paper presents a method of probabilistically analyzing the end-to-end response time from sensing to actuation in autonomous vehicle computing systems. The end-to-end response time is used to evaluate vehicle responsiveness and to derive various indicators of vehicle safety. For example, given the end-to-end response time from sensing an obstacle to stopping the vehicle, an upper limit of the vehicle’s speed may be defined. In addition, the proposed analysis may be used to determine how many computing resources should be invested in improving vehicle responsiveness. This paper proposes a safe analytical method under the assumption that ERF (Earliest Release First) scheduling is used and that each task is pinned to a certain CPU, and presents the results of the responsiveness of an open source autonomous driving stack called Autoware.

Wearable tactile sensors have been fascinated rapidly in recent years with advances of robotics, healthcare, E-skin, and human-machine interaction. However, these tactile sensors have been suffered from insufficient self-powered and sensitivity-tunable functions as requiring an extra-power supply including an inconvenient battery. Herein, we fabricated self-powered, sensitivity-tunable, and wearable tactile sensor based on a porous polyurethane (PP) coated with a reduced graphene oxide (rGO). The rGO-coated porous polyurethane (rGO-PP) was prepared with dip-coating to graphene oxide (GO) on PP, and then, thermal reduction. The micropores of porous structure facilitated a deformed of the rGO-PP by applied pressure, resulting in a changed conductive path and electrical signals. Bio-electrolyte provided from human skin generated power exploiting the simple principle of galvanic cell and supply power to rGO-PP tactile sensor. The bio-electrolyte triggered self-power overcame the limitation of inconvenient extra-battery, thereby improving practical use as wearable device. A simple design of electrically serial circuit give rise to tailorable sensitivity widely ranged from 0.46 to 3.05 kPa-1. Therefore, rGO-PP tactile sensor with such multifarious functions can be exploited in the improvement of applications such as braille recognition, the restoration of somatosensory, and E-skin.
