There are some disadvantages in efficiency for gasoline combustion and in NOx and PM (particulate matter) emission for diesel engine. CAI (controlled auto-ignition) combustion is an recommendable technology to solve the problem. An adapter was used for induced auto-igmition in Constant Volume Combustion Chamber (CVCC). Flam propagation photos and pressure signals were acquired to verify effect of the adaptor. Theoretical analysis was also performed. <br/> According to the results of experiment, the adaptor creates a high-speed burned gas jet.<br/> And some analytic solutions show the similar results of experiment. But there are some differences between experiments and analytic solutions. It is needed that more computational models for the precise solutions.

Exhaust gas emissions from internal combustion engines are one of the major sources of air pollution. It is extremely difficult to increase gasoline engine efficiency and to reduce simultaneously NOx and PM(particulate matter) in diesel combustion.<br/> This paper offers some basic concepts of overcoming the above problems. To solve the problems, a recommended technique is CAI(controlled auto-ignition) combustion. The internal EGR(exhaust gas recirculation) effect is suggested to realize CAI combustion.<br/> Thus, an experimental study was carried out to achieve internal EGR using homogeneous premixed gas mixture in the constant volume combustion chamber(CVCC). Moreover, two kinds of obstacles were used to simulate internal EGR effect. Flame propagation photos and pressure signals were acquired to verify internal EGR effect. Hole type obstacle creates high speed burned gas jet. It achieves the highest flame propagation speed due to the effect of geometry and burned gas jet. Double mesh type was also found to increase flame propagation speed.

Almost automatic transmission based on planetary gear set use the torque converter as a starting device due to high power density and comfortable, vibration-decoupling torque transmission. But, the most disadvantage of the hydrodynamic starting device is low fuel efficiency. The torque converter in its modern design with lockup clutch and despite more and more improvements requires radial and axial installation space between the engine and the transmission. But, it is impossible to use big size converter because of limit area for starting device. The newly introduced the starting device with multi-plates is able to use to the stepped automatic transmission. This wet start clutch can achieve compact size due to no hydraulic elements, only have multi-plate clutch and damper system. The most innovative design for this starting device is the self-induced cooling concept. The single side plates with radial slots and reliefs in the steel support on the external and internal providing oil flow paths to cooling around the friction material which was heated by high slip speed. This paper describes the design and development of a wet start clutch for RWD automatic transmission.

Flame propagation photos and pressure signals were acquired to verify internal EGR effect according to a hole type adaptor. The hole type adaptor creates a high-speed burned gas jet. It achieved higher flame propagation speed and autoignition due to the effect of geometry and burned gas jet.

To endure extremely slip condition, it needs to optimize the shape of the oil flow path on the friction plates to increase cooling flow rate. This paper describes the optimization of oil path on friction plate by using CFD software to increase oil flow rate through the friction lining.
