Experimental studies on determination of the supply leading time of propellants to combustion chamber have been made to stably and efficiently guarantee the ignitions process with liquid rocket engine. The propellant used is a Kerosene as fuel and a liquid oxygen as oxidizer. FOOF type of three injectors are set with an angle of 135。 and the combustion chamber pressure is 200psi. The present experiment program also includes the stability on the quadlet type of ignitor using the triehylaluminum (TEAL) as an ignition source. Experimental results clarifies that the propellant supply through LOx leading to combustion chamber is proper for stable ignition and combustion processes based on the fuel and oxidizer manifold pressures, combustion chamber pressure, and the variation of flame length from the nozzle exit with lapse time, and shows that the leading supply time pf propellants effects the engine performance little.

In the case of marine concrete composite structures, damaged by the various environment effect(sea damage, freeze-thaw, carbonation), and then, there is a possibility of going bad in the safety. The purpose of this study is to perform periodic measurements and tests on the durability test site constructed at sea and to provide basic guidelines for future maintenance based on the analyzed data.
대망 전위술을 이용한 하지 2차성 임파수종 치료에 대한 임상적 고찰

The secondary lymphedema was mainly followed by previous pelvic lymph node dissection for intrapelvic organ malignancy. It usually took over 10 years to clinical evidence of lymphedema after the pelvic node dissection. There are several surgical modalities such as direct lymphatic reconstruction, pedicle flaps and excisional operations for treatment of lymphedema. And there was no definite single surgical guideline until now. As one of the pedicle flaps, the omental pedicle transposition was introduced in 1967 by Goldsmith clinically. Authors try to make retrospective clinical analysis of omental pedicle transposition in secondary lymphedema patients and introduce the surgical procedure in detail. We have experienced 17 cases of omental pedicle transposition during past 5 years at Dept. of Surgery, Kangnam St. Mary's Hospital, Catholic University Medical College, with following results; 1) All 17 patients had been treated with previous pelvic surgery for uterine malignancy. 2) The sex and age distribution were female in all cases with mean age of 51 yrs. 3) The postoperative surgical complications were wound infection and delayed wound healing in 6 cases and incisional hernia in 2 cases. 4) The clinical results by patients herself were much improved in 12 cases and moderate improved in 5 cases. In spite of limited number of cases, about 70% of our patients were satisfied with the surgical outcome. So, the authors could recommend this surgical procedure in secondary lymphedema patients for the chance of better quality of life. And further clinical evaluation should be followed in the future.

The vascular endothelial cell releases the endothelium-derived relaxing factor (EDRF) which is a labile nonprostanoid substance released both spontaneously and in response to a variety of neurohumoral stimuli. Nitric oxide gas in solution (NO) relaxes blood vessels with similar actions and pharmacodynamics as the EDRF. Certain data suggest that the chemical characteristics and biological activity of EDRF and NO appear not to be identical. Anion exchange columns have been reported to bind naturally derived EDRF but to have no effect on NO. The effects of naturally derived EDRF and NO on nonvascular smooth muscle have been reported to differ. Finally there may be more than one EDRF. Nitric oxide synthase activity has been reported in many tissues, including endothelium, cerebellum, nonadrenergic noncholinergic nerves, macrophages, neutrophils, kidney, pulmonary epithelial cells, gastric mucosa, and myocardium. NO mediates a great variety of phenomenon including endothelium-dependent vasor- elaxation, macrophage-mediated cytotoxicity. Inhibition of platelet adhesion and aggregation, relaxation of the human corpus cavernosum, regulation of basal blood pressure, long-term synaptic depression, long-term potentiation of synaptic transmission, glomerular and medullary microcirculation, ventilation-perfusion marching and prevention of pylorospasm in infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. In the vascular system it diffuses across the plasma membrane on the abluminal surface of the endothelium into the vascular smooth muscle exerting its relaxing effect. Thus NO represents a simple autocrine messenger in the vascular system. The short half-life of this substance has made its chemical identity difficult to ascertain. The most widely used assays use one of four strategies to detect NO: ① NO is trapped by nitroso compounds, or reduced hemoglobin, forming a stable adduct that is detected by electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR).; ② NO oxidizes reduced hemoglobin to methemoglobin, which is detected by spectrphotometry, ③ NO interacts with ozone producing light, chemiluminescence, ④ amperometric microelectrode assays offer the potential to measure smaller amounts of NO, permitting NO measurement in intact issues and from single cells. This study was undertaken to investigate the capacity of not only cultured endothelial cells in media, but the seeded grafts to produce NO. Endothelial cells were isolated from human umbilical vein and cultured in Ml99 medium plus 20% fetal calf serum. Purity of culture was determined by immunological fluorescent staining of factor VIII related antigen, phase-contrastand scanning electron microscopy. A new modified Greens automated system was used for the measuring of nitrate via reduction with a high-pressure cadmium column. The results were as follows: 1) The concentration of NO released from the cultured endothelial cells (106) and seeded cells were 27.22±4.0μM and 27.43±3.4μM repectively. 2) Stimulation of endothelial cells with bradykinin (100 nM) resulted in the increase of NO release (64.88±7.44μM in cultured cells and 67.16±11.5μM in seeded cells). In conclusion, our data showed that the level of nitric oxide released from the seeded endothelial cells were initially not different from that of cultured endothelial cells. Furthermore, this study has additional information that the new modified Green's system was sensitive to quantify NO released from the both cultured and seeded endothelial cells.
