The essential tremor is an involuntary oscillatory movement of body parts. Conventional treatments of essential tremor have little effects in some patients and also leads to significant side effects. Alternative to these treatments, sensory stimulation may have beneficial effects on the essential tremor. The purpose of this study was to analyze an effect of sensory stimulation on essential tremor. Ten patients with essential tremor ($67.4{\pm}8.82$ yrs, 5 men and 5 women) participated in this study. Three-axis gyro sensors were attached on index finger, hand and forearm of patients. Task of 'arms outstretched forward' was performed with and without sensory stimulation. Vectorsum of three dimensional angular velocities (pitch, roll, yaw) was calculated. Outcome measures included root-meansquare (RMS) mean of the vector-sum amplitude, total power, peak power and peak frequency. RMS amplitude, total power and peak power were reduced by sensory stimulation (p < 0.05). Peak frequency was not affected by sensory stimulation. The results indicate that the sensory stimulation is useful to suppress the essential tremor.

Milk records on 639 Holstein cows with first lactation during 1986 to 1991 from Korea Animal Improvement Association were used to estimate genetic parameters and genetic and phenotypic correlations among milk, fat, and protein yields. These records were adjusted to 305 days, two times, and months of calving years. The estimates for heritabilities from multivariate REML were 0.18 and 0.13 for milk yield and fat yield. Also, the heritabilities for milk, fat, and protein yields from multivariate REML were 0.20, 0.286, and 0.572, respectively. The heritability of protein yield was considerably higher than those of other yield traits. The genotypic correlation with milk and protein yield was higher than that of milk and fat yield. The selection index derived from the estimated parameters and economic weight based on the milk price by milk and fat percent was I₁ =3.49X_m + 102.51X_f. Supposing that the price of the differential protein percent were 8 and 9 Won, then, the indices were I₂=-2.22X_m + 2.40X_f + 92.05X_p and I₃=-2.08X_m + 2.26X_f + 86.39X_p, respectively. (X_m=milk yield (㎏), X_f=fat yield (㎏), X_p=protein yield (㎏).

To examine effects of age and lactation stage on linear type traits, this study was undertaken by analyzing the 15 primary traits and the final score, collected on the linear type scores of a total of 10,502 Korean Holstein cattle from KAIA(Korea Animal Improvement Association). The results obtained are as follows: 1. Type traits which showed significantly affected by both age and lactation stage were strength, body depth, rump width, fore udder attachment, udder support, udder depth, and final score. Generally, among the numbers of parity, the distinction was significant. 2. Interacting type traits between parity and lactation stage were fore udder attachment, rear udder depth, and final score. 3. Type traits showing vivid linear interaction with age were height, strength, body depth, mmp length, rump width, legs(side view), udder support, and udder depth. The type traits other than udder support and udder depth increased with the linear scores during aging. 4. Throughout lactation stages, rear udder height, udder support, and udder depth showed the non-linear interaction. When rear udder height and rear udder width increased with aging, the scores decreased. However, the other traits increased. This study showed the significant differences in effects of age and lactation stage on linear type traits, hence development of adjustment factors for linear type traits was needed.
