Radioactive phosphorus (^(32)P) of single dose up to 40 μc was injected into the egg yolk during the 5th to 15th incubation day. Embryo development, hatchability and chick growth rate up to 150 days old were observed. A single does of 5 to 40 μc of ^(32)P on the 5th to 15th incubation day resulted in the significantly retarded development of the 18 day-old chick embryo as the ^(32)P dosage increased. A significant negative correlation between the ^(32)P dosage on the 12th incubation day and hatchability (r=-0.946) and a linear regression of hatchability loss to ^(32)P dosage (Y=0.372X+17.06) were obtained. The chick growth rate up to 150 days old was decreased significantly as the ^(32)P dosage on the 12th incubation day increased.

The effects of radioiodine (^(131)I) administration on the histology of ovary and uterus and sexual cycle of the mature guinea pigs were observed. A single dose of 4.5 mC radioiodine per ㎏ body weight was injected subcutaneously. On the 1, 7, 14, 28, 42 and 56th day after radioiodine treatment, five treated and 5 control guinea pigs were sacrificed and their ovary and uterus were examined histologically. The variations in sexual cycle were examined by vaginal smear method through the experimental period. The results obtained were as follows: 1. No histological changes in the ovary were observed on the first day after treatment. On the 7th day after treatment, however, some atretic follicles were appeared and granulosa cells were changed with pyknosis and karyorrhexis. From the 14th day onwards, primordial follicles began to be damaged with a tendency to be severe gradually. After 42 days atretic follicles .and atrophy or hypoplasia of interstitial cells wore observed. On the 56th day after treatment, these ovaries began to be restored to the normal state. 2. The atrophy of myofibrils and multiplications of interstitial connective tissue of tunica muscularis were observed in the uterus from after treatment. 3. The change in sexual cycle of the treated guinea pig was apparent. The diestrus period extended in some guinea pigs on the 10th day after treatment. From the 21st day onwards, the distinct extension of diestrus period was observed.

To compare the nutritive value of fish meal with that of fermented compound protein meal, the feeding trial with 288 laying hens of shaver strain was carried out for 8 weeks. The results obtained are as follows; 1. Experimental fermented compound protein meal contained less protein (39.5%) than imported fish meal (67%) and domestic fish meal (56%). However, moisture content of domestic fish meal (19.8%) was higher than that of fermented compound protein meal (10.6%) and imported fish meal (9.8%). It was found that the content of Ca, P and methionine in forign fish meal was superior to those in the fermented or domestic fish meal. 2. In growth rate, there was no statistical difference between the treatments. However, the amount of feed consumed was higher for the hens fed fermented compound protein meal than for those fed fish meal, although no significant difference was observed between the source of fish meal. 3. There was no statistical significance among the treatment in egg production and egg weight, but the hens feed fermented compound protein meal produced a little more eggs of heavier egg weight than those fed control diet. 4. These results indicate that fermented compound protein meal up to 10% level can be used in the laying hens diet satisfactorily.
