In case of metal insulation, which is produced by stacking stainless steel sheets and air layers in a multi-stack manner at a specific thickness, insulation performance will be evaluated based on thermal transmittance rather than the intrinsic physical properties of each material such as thermal conductivity. However, there is no standard for measuring thermal transmittance targeted for non-homogeneous insulation which is used in relatively high temperature conditions such as a power station. In this study, the thermal conductivity of homogeneous insulation acquired by the standardized guard hot plate method and the thermal conductivity of homogeneous insulation measured by the newly developed performance tester were compared to verify the confidence level of the tester. As a result, thermal conductivity acquired by the newly developed thermal transmittance tester was about 6% higher than the thermal conductivity measured by the existing guard hot plate method under the anticipated service temperature conditions.

Recently, there has been a growing interest in the safety of nuclear power plants after the Fukushima nuclear accident. Most of the nuclear accidents occur in small bore pipe welds. Most of the small bore pipe welds which are dangerous are located in the high radiation exposure area. Therefore, there is a problem that the high radiation exposure of the workers is inevitable at the time of installation and replacement, and the current small bore pipe welds are not monitored. Therefore, in this study, we try to confirm the vibration characteristics according to the depth of cracks in the test piece simulating the small diameter pipe weld. In the experiment, the resonance region of the specimen was changed according to the crack depth. Experimental results show that the resonance region moves uniformly depending on the presence or absence of cracks. However, it was confirmed that it does not vary linearly with the crack depth. In the next study, we try to simulate an actual small diameter welded joint.

We investigated guide vane Optimization of the Wood pellet boiler using Numerical Analysis. Wood combustion is a complex process. It involves many physical and chemical processes. Burning phases of wood pellet can be classified into three modes, 1) gasification mode, 2) flame burning mode and 3) charcoal burning mode. The test equipment used moving grate combustor. Primary air is supplied from the bottom of the grate and the flame is formed above moving grate. The flame is formed longer than gas or oil flame. Therefore Flames burning very close to a cold wall may be partially quenched by heat conductivity to the wall. Considering the length of the flame, the two chambers are developed. The flame in the 1st combustion chamber is moved to the second combustion chamber along the guide vane. The result of guide vane influence on the internal flow structure is analyzed from the velocity profiles and the vector plot.

Nowadays, most people carry a smart device that is a smart phone or a smart pad. Usually with a smart phone, we can use it as a phone, a calculator, a scheduler and even as a navigator. There are 2 types of smart device, one is an Android(http://developer.android.com/) platform and the other is as IOS(http://developer.apple.com/) platform. Application developing language is different from each other. Programmer for android has to use Java<SUP>tm</SUP> and one for IOS has to us Objective-C language. We make applications(App) for smart device, especially for IOS such as iPhone and iPad. One of the applications is in the form of ICT(Information and Communications Technology). With the program, we can monitor an electric power consumption of building. We can check current electric power usage, today electricity charge, electric usage pattern and so on. Another is for technical calculation applications, such as calculation for boiler efficiency, calculation for fuel heating value, boiler operation monitoring and so on.

In order to apply a smart damper using polyurethane rubber spring to power plant facilities, it is necessary to consider the environmental temperature at the location where the damper is installed. Therefore, in this study, we study the characteristic change of polyurethane rubber springs according to temperature by hardness measurement and behavior test at various temperature. For the temperature characteristics experiment, two types of cylinder shaped polyurethane rubber springs with different outer diameters were fabricated, and hardness measurement, precompessed and dynamic behavior tests were performed with temperature. As a result of the precompressed and the 5Hz dynamic behavior test at 115℃, rigid body load and load bandwidth were reduced by the plastic deformation. The using limit temperature of the polyurethane rubber spring analyzed by the experimental results is estimated to be below 85℃.

Recently domestic wood pellet boilers are installed in rural and forestry houses. The fuel price per lower heating value of wood pellet is about 20 % lower than that of heating oil on July 2010. In spite of lower price of wood pellet, a few user of wood pellet boiler complain expensive fuel cost. One of this reason is inaccurate or improper air-fuel ratio setting of wood pellet boiler. O2 concentration of flue gas of domestic wood pellet boiler is about 9.7 % and there are few domestic wood pellet boiler which can control air-fuel ratio automatically. We tested a domestic wood pellet boiler in changing boiler thermal output. The nominal boiler thermal output is 25 ㎾ (21 500 ㎉/h). We measured thermal efficiency at 100 % boiler thermal load and partial loads. We tested an ignition characteristics of domestic wood pellet boilers.
