Vol.0 No.52

This study was designed to investigate the effects of providing the health-related information after 8weeks-exercise program on the exercise and eating habits, fitness and blood lipid profiles of middle-aged obese women. The subjects were total 19 women who had more than 30 % of body fat(average %fat 36.69±5.59, age 46.26±5.59 yrs). They all participated in 40~70 minutes of complex training program which consisted of aerobic, resistance and flexibility exercise 5 days a week during 8 weeks. They were also provided with nutritional education con-ducted by a special nutritionist in which the balanced diet, dietary diary, fast food, ect. were instructed. After 8 weeks of exercise program, we provided all subjects individually with practical health related informa-tion including nutrition and eating habit, exercise habits and behavioral modification by phon-call counselling. In order to encourage the participants to maintain the continuous desirable health-related behavior after 8week, we presented the award(the nomination of health leaders, free one-year voucher for health center, etc) for the achievement of target %body fat, attendance rate, the diet diary). The provision of practical health-related infor-mation through phon calls(counselling) were made about 3-7 minutes two times a week during 4 weeks. We focused on any change of body composition, parameters of physical fitness, blood lipid profiles and behavioral change at the time course of pre-exercise program, post-exercise program and 4weeks after ex-ercise program. The statistical significant difference and main effect was tested by one-way repeated measures ANOVA and Bonferroni. The results were as follows: Almost all the measurements which included body composition(body fat, BMI, %body fat, the circumference of abdomen), phys ical fitness(sit up, step test, upper body flexibility, hand grip strength, blood pressure), Triglyceride and behavioral change(regular exercise habit, average exercise time and frequency, eating habit) were significantly improved after 8week exercise program (p < .05~.001). There was also no significant difference of all parameters between the time of the post-8week program and the time of 4weeks after program, which means that the effects of training were maintained even 4weeks after the pro-gram by the provision of health-related information in this study.

        이부용(Bu Yong Lee),김동환(Dong Hwan Kim),오명진(Myung Jin Oh),신영륜(Young Ryun Shin),정일규(Il Gyu Jeong) 한국사회체육학회 2013 한국사회체육학회지 Vol.0 No.51

This study was designed to survey the actual condition of Korean`s health risk factors according to age group and investigate the accumulative effects of long-term exercise habit on several health risk factors. The first sampling was conducted for total 4,591,732 Korean people who have been checked medical examination which has been performed by National Health Insurance Corporation since 2001. As the first research, total 784,472 adults(male 535,066, female 249,406) who had been consecutively tested 5 times every two year for total 8 years were selected among the first sampling subjects in order to survey the real conditions of Korean`s health risk factors according to gender and age. After that, total 147 ,640 adults were assigned to five groups according to whether or not and how long they participated in exercise(non-exercise group, two-year consecutive exercise group, four-year consecutive exercise group, six-year consecutive exercise group and eight-year consecutive exercise group). This study applied frequency analy sis and Latent Growth Model in order to ana -lyze the long-term exercise accumulative effects and the level of significance was determined at p<.05. The results of this study were as follows.1) In 2000`s(from 2001 to 2009), the researcher found the tendency which fasting blood glucose increase about 6mg/dl every 8 years (from early age group to late age group, example : from age 20 to 28 or from age 21 to 29).2) In 2000`s(from 2001 to 2009), total cholesterol showed most rapid increase of about 13mg/dl in their 20`s and about 11mg in their 30`s, respectively.3) The most significant accumulative effect of long-term exercise on total cholesterol appe ared in over 6-year consecutive exercise group and in their 60`s compared to younger age group and shorter exercise period group(p<.001).These results suggest that since 2000, there has been clear tendency that total cholesterol and fasting blood glucose increase according to age, especially in young generation such as 20`s a nd 30`s. The accumulative effect of long-term exercise might be more significant in older generation compared to younger people and suggested the necessity of exercise in the elderly who might have higher risk of physical dysfunction and various disease.

The study was designed to evaluate the effect of self-myofascial release(SMR) technique on elasticity and stiffness of rectus femoris muscle which experienced the exhaustive fatigue induced by isokinetic endurance exercise. Total 25 college students(male: 14, female: 11) conducted two isokinetic endurance exercise(Biodex System 4, USA) with a week interval. In this cross-over study, each subject were asked to perform 6 sets of muscular endurance exercise(60°/sec, 10 times of maximal knee flexion and extension/each set) with 10seconds of resting interval. Each subject was asked to conduct SMR treatment on rectus femoris(experimental group) or take a complete resting(control group) for 5 minutes after 6 sets of isokinetic endurance exercise at each separated day with a week interval. In order to measure eth mechanical properties like muscle stiffness and elasticity, MyotonPro(Myoton AS, Tallinn, Estonia) was applied to muscle belly of rectus femoris muscle at pre-exercise, right after exercise, 5min. and 20min. after exercise. From the Myoton measurement, Five indexes(Frequency, Logarithmic Decrement, Dynamic Stiffness, Creep, Mechanical Stress Relaxation) were obtained. Electromyograph(EMG) on rectus fermoris m. was also measured during first set and 6th set of isokinetic exercise in order to obtained the muscle activity index and compare it with Myoton measurement indexes. The results were as follows: 1. The muscle tension and stiffness were significantly increased while the elasticity was decreased immediately and at 5 minutes after exercise. All mechanical properties of fatigued muscle were recovered to pre-exercise level at 20 minutes after exercise. 2. No significant effect of SMR on mechanical properties indexes of fatigued muscle was found at every time point after endurance exercise. 3. The changes of mechanical properties(tension, stiffness and elasticity) between pre-and post-exercise which were measured by Myoton-measurement had significant corelation with the changed muscle activities estimated by EMG.

        정일규(Il Gyu Jeong),이희혁(Hee Hyuk Lee),이부용(Boo Yong Lee),신영륜(Young Ryun Shin),오명진(Myung Jin Oh),최정웅(Jung Woong Choi) 한국사회체육학회 2011 한국사회체육학회지 Vol.0 No.44

There are many indexes representing the level of sociological supports and circumstance encouraging the people with disability to participate in sports such as the disabled`s participation rate in sports, availability of facilities and places for the disabled, the size of budget supporting the disabled`s sports, etc. As one important index, the degree of how much benefits the people with disability have been receiving from sportsmedicine or exercise prescription must be also evaluated. In Korea, at least till this time the degree has been far behind from the level this society must have achieved. Based on this recognition, this study tried to define the role of sportsmedicine for both sports participants and elite athletes with disability in this society. I also suggested a couple of applicable and approachable areas and methods of sportsmedicine and exercise prescription for the people with disability. First, physiological and medical researches focused on field applicability need to be promoted through scientific conferences and seminars supported by government research supporting system and the sport organizations related with the disabled. Second, the network between community university and people with disability for the exercise prescription can be newly established by sponsorship from local or central government and the other related organizations. The facilities, training equipments, programs, professionals and assistants could be provided by university while the transportation and any payments for supporters could be provided by the organizations. Third, there is an urgent need to establish the system for cultivating the professionals such as athletic trainers for the disabled. Forth, the close network and system to connect the disabled from medical institutes to sports centers or clubs need to be established. Lastly, the exercise prescription center specified for people with disability need to be built on the basis of strong welfare policy, not from the commercial basis. Sportsmedicine has to be understood as a high quality of service and a method to pursue the fundamental human right for the disabled as well as the undisabled beyond the meaning of rehabilitation from the injury and functional disability.

Vol.24 No.1

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of aquatic exercise on body composition, isokinetic strength and balance in the adolescences with Down's syndrome. Seven adolescences with Down's syndrome, aged 13 to 18(average age of 15.14), with an average height of 144.28cm and weight of 47.68kg, participated in this study after the informed consent had been done by their parents. They participated in the aquatic exercise program for 12 weeks, 3 times a week, for 50 min at a time. No individuals extended their participation over this period of time. The subjects' body composition and isokinetic strength were measured before and after the aquatic exercise. Also, two ways of balance test were done. The static balance test was used by Stick test, the other dynamic balance test was used by Straight walking test. Data were analyzed by paired t-test. The significance was considered under 0.05. The results were as follows; First, after the 12 weeks' aquatic exercise, the body composition was positively changed in the adolescences with Down's syndrome. Second, after the 12 weeks' aquatic exercise, the peak torque, peak torque %body weight and flexor/extensor ratio at the angular velocity of the low speed(60 deg./sec) in knee isokinetic strength were significantly increased in the adolescences with Down's syndrome. Also, the peak torque, peak torque %body weight and flexor/extensor ratio in shoulder isokinetic strength were significantly increased in the adolescences with Down's syndrome. Third, the aquatic exercise had positive effects on static balance test, Stick test, for adolescences with Down syndrome. Also, the aquatic exercise had very positive effects on dynamic balance test, Straight walking test. Therefore, the aquatic exercise had positive effects on the balance of adolescences with Down syndrome. In Conclusion, the aquatic exercise program had significant effects on increasing functions of muscle strength and balance sensory, which were retarded at the adolescences with Down's syndrome.
