Teaching and making visual art works with the visually disabled had been regarded as an impossible activity. In this program, photography will be applied as an educational tool toward people who suffer various visual handicap. With Various experiments of photographical activities, The visually disabled will overcome their handicaps or stereotypes, and eventually can build self confidence or improve their value. The purpose of this study is to emphasize improvement of the visually disabled common temperament, such as educational development of sense, aesthetic point of view, self expression ability, or growth of sociality.

Since the invention of the photography, it has been used by people who are not visually disabled. Even no one has imagined the possibility of the use of photography by the visually disabled. Light makes photography possible. Photography is said as the art of light and the drawing by light. It means that if there is no light, photography can not be made. However it does not mean that people who have trouble with seeing can not take pictures. Until recently, taking pictures by the visually disabled is almost unfeasible, but the development of digital camera makes it possible. In this sense, the idea that the visually disabled can take picture is the change of a way of thinking. In other words, whether people can see or not is not that important. The most important thing is that how people use well photography as a method of self expression on his or her thought. So, to find out what makes the visually disabled take pictures and how it can be used to improve their life, I will sort out photographs taken by the visually disabled and examine the contents of the pictures.
논문 : 자기 사진이 신체 이미지에 미치는 효과에 관한 질적 연구

평소에는 보기 힘든 뒷모습, 옆모습, 앉은 자세 등 다양한 각도의 자기 전신사진을 찍고, 그 결과를 탐색하는 과정에서 경험한 내용을 질적 분석방법으로 분석하였다. 자신의 신체를 사진으로 찍고 찍힌 모습을 탐색하는 과정에서 대학생들이 경험한 내용은 「인지적 측면-자아재발견」, 「정서적 측면-낮은 만족감과 아쉬움」, 「행동적 측면-개선 의지와 노력」, 「도구적 측면-사진에 대한 새로운 관점수용 및 이해」의 4범주로 분류되었다. 4범주는 다시 12개의 주제군으로 분류되었다. 「자아 재발견」에 따른 주제는 ``놀랍고도 새로운 외적모습의 직면``, ``내면의 감정과 심리세계 이해`` 이며, 「낮은 만족감과 아쉬움」에 대한 주제군은 ``외모에 대한 낮은 만족감``, ``건강과 자세에 대한 낮은 만족감``, ``뒤늦은 확인에의 아쉬움``, 「개선의지와 노력」에 대한 주제는 ``운동이나 다이어트의 필요성 인식``, ``바른 자세로 개선하려는 강한 결심``, ``지속적인 관찰에의 의지``, ``병원내방, 진단과 치료`` 이며, 「사진에 대한 새로운 관점수용 및 이해」에 대한 주제는 ``사진의 도구적 편리성 확인``, ``사진의 높은 객관성 파악``, ``자기이해의 도구로서의 적합성 수용``이였다. This study has analyzed the role of self-portraits in the understanding on body image and the posture. In this study, the reports were made by 63 students who had taken self-photographs of their standing front, back and side view, and seated postures. The data were separated into 4 categories: 「cognitive aspect - self-rediscovery」, 「emotional aspect - low satisfaction and disappointment」, 「behavioral aspect - improvement motivation and effort」, 「instrumental aspect - accepting and understanding about new point of view of photograph」. The themes belonging to 4 categories were facing of surprising and new external appearance, understanding of internal emotion and mental mind, low satisfaction of appearance, low satisfaction of health and posture, disappointment of late affirmation, recognition of need to exercise or diet, great determination for improvement in good posture, having the will for continuous observation, going to hospital for diagnosis and treatment, affirmation of the instrumental convenience of the photograph, catch on the high objectivity of the photograph, understanding on the suitability for the instrument of the self-understanding.
논문 : 사진의 시각적 속성 평가와 감성반응의 비교를 통한 감성모형 검증

In this study, the 109 affective words were evaluated on the three dimension of the affective impression space for the photographs; the ``positive-negative``, the ``dynamic-static``, and the ``light-heavy`` affective dimension. The words ``cool-warm``, ``bright-dark``, and ``soft-sharp`` were selected to compare the response about the perceptual impression with the response about the affective impression. The results showed that the perceived lightness were in proportion to the ``bright-dark`` affective impression but the ``soft-sharp`` affective impressions were not dependent on the perceived sharpness. In addition, the relationship of these scales and the variation of color tone were analyzed. Both of the perceptual impression and affective impression on the ``soft-sharp`` scale were not influenced by overall color tone, while the two kinds of impression on the ``bright-dark`` dimension were highly correlated to the ``light-heavy`` affective impression.

The expressive style of photagraphy can be defined as the way of describing the outer world and its reality. Thropgh out the history of photography, the notion of reality has changed with the development of the various styles. The study focused on the discussion about the relation between psycho-perceptual factors and reality. The determinants of the style of photographic images were discussed in terms of the fundamental factors of visual preception such as depth, color and form. The major method of psychological studies which is collecting perceptual responses makes it possible to develop a model for the receptive process of the visual artworks and to focus on the recipient-centered criticism. To understand the history of photographic style, the characteristics of the expressive techniques were overviewed in the order of the times. Now a days, the reality of photographic images is not based on the presence of a subject but a subject which can be inferred from psychological responses of a recipient occurred by the properties of style which is composed of the perceptual factors.
