Purpose: This phenomenological study aimed to identify breast cancer patients’ experience of unkindness of healthcare providers. Methods: Ten participants who were diagnosed with breast cancer were recruited to participate in the study and asked to share their experience related to healthcare providers. Data were analyzed using the phenomenological method of Colaizzi. In-depth interviews were conducted from November, 2014 to March, 2015. Results: Seven consistent categories and fourteen theme clusters emerged from collected data. The seven themes were ‘being treated thoughtlessly’, ‘not giving special services for breast cancer patients’, ‘cold and authoritative manner’, ‘incomplete explanation‘, ‘not accepting an appeal’, ‘being sorry for having short consultation hours’, and ‘unskilled and careless treatment’. Conclusions: It is needed to develop health care services in the view of beneficiaries. This may reduce the patients’ experience of unkindness of the healthcare providers and improve the satisfaction of health care service.

This paper is to understand the main topics of medical ethics, and to figure out the current situation through internet news articles using text mining technique. Methods: Total of 2,778 articles were collected by searching with the keyword “Medical ethic” in Korea 3 influential newspapers from 1966 to 2018 through internet news web sites. We used Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) algorithm for data analysis. Results: When the topics of medical ethics are arranged in two dimensions, a topic about the nature of medical ethics is located at the center. 5 themes of topics were identified such as lawmaking and administration , medical echosystem and bioethics , medical ethics related industry , advances in medical technology . There was no significant difference in the percentage of topics between them. We can understand that as medical technology develops rapidly, the issue of medical ethics is also changing at a rapid pace. Conclusion: It is necessary to find the essence and direction of medical ethics that respect life in a rapidly changing society. Further research is required to conduct in-depth analysis about topics of medical ethics according to the year of publication.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and describe about life stress in nursing students. Methods: The data was collected from Nov, 2 to 15, 2009. Study subjects were 570 nursing students, they were recruited from 3 nursing departments of four year college, in Busan, Korea. Their life stress was measured using the Life Stress Scale for college students developed by Chon et. al(2000). Results: 1) The life stress score was mean 37.07±16.98(range 0-150). The sub dimension of life stress that showed academic performance area score at 1.44±0.60(range 0-3), value area score at 1.06±0.70, economy area score 1.80±0.72, interpersonal relationship with faculty score at 0.74±0.59 and future and getting employment area score at 0.83±0.52. 2)There were significant differences in grade (F=11.101. p<.001), satisfaction of school(F=12.365, p<.001), satisfaction of major (F=9.607, p<.001), perceived health status(F=15.686, p<.001), level of school record at las semester (F=9.982, p<.001) and attitude in class (F=8.786, p<.001) according to general characteristics in the life stress among nursing students. Conclusion: Nursing students have life stress especially academic performance, value, economy and relationship with faculy area. Therefore, nursing school should establish health promotion strategies for nursing student to relieve their life stress for enhancing their health and adaptation of campus life.

Purpose: This study is to analyze the research trends centering on the theses relate to hospice released in Korea. Method: The researcher collected the academic degrees and theses published on the book of the academic society from 1991 to 2004,and examined 110 domestic papers of hospice. Result: 1)The number of articles increased every year after 1997, 52(47%) theses were published in 2000-2002. 97(88%) articles were quantitative studies(experimetal design 17, non-experimetal design 80), and 13(12%) were qualitative studies. 2)As for the subject, the results were :patients with end stage 44(40%), nurse 18(16%), hospice care system, facilities, and literature review 12(10%). 3)As for major concepts of correational studies 15(13%), the results were:quality of life, activities of volunteers, suffering experience of nurse, attitude of hospice, spiritual health, mental health, pain contol and satisfaction, coping pattern, anxiety about death, depression, burnout, and cognition. 4)The subjects and contents of survey, the results were :pain control and need for nursing care in patients, need for spiritual care and physical care in family, cognition and attitude of death and hospice in medical and paremedical staff, and eucational program of hospice, facilities, and development of model. 5)The treatment of experimental research, the results were: hospice nursing,educational program, informational support, spiritual nursing, supportive nursing intervention, home hopice care, information services for control of cancer pain, social support in home hospice services. 6)In the theme of the qualitative studies, the results were: experience of dying patients, perceive of hospice care and death, experience of family of terminal ill patients, meaning of dying in Korean, 7) In the instrument in studies, the results were: MQOL, EQOL, QOL, NIC, Spiritual Need Scale, Spiritual Well-being Scale, Spiritual Perspective Scale, Coping for Grief Scale, K-CPAT, VAS, BPI, Depression Scale, Stait-anxiety Scale, Care-giver Burden Inventory, Burnout Inventory, Mental quality. Conclusion : More research needs to be encouraged in experimental and qualitative research fields. Researches should be conducted for the establishment of the basis of practical and theoretical framework and hospice polices.

The purpose of this study was to provide the basic resources for developing parish nursing program by investigating the demands of parish or churches on parish nursing service. Subjects of this study were 96 pastors conveniently in Busan. Research tools used for this study were modified version of the ones composed by Hwang(2000) with the help of the prior research and professionals referring to parish nurse program questionnaire by Djupe(1990). Data for study were collected from July.1 to Oct.31,2001 by using questionnaire method Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, x2-test with SPSS./PC program. The summary of the study was as follows; 1. On the demands of parish nursing service for the subjects, 95.8% thenecessity of parish nursing services. And they answered by their intention of asking for parish nursing service practice. 2. The subjects of this study wanted 71.9% of part time and 28.1% of full times duty. The method of payment was 41.8% of pay free and 55.2% of salaried. And engagement intention of parish nurse as preacher was 88.5%. 3. They demanded for parish nurses in hospice care (4.02±l.ll), health screening (3.98±1.09), home visiting(3.97± 1.16),group health education(3.81 ±1.12),organization of volunteer groups(3.75 土 1.12), individual health education (3.75 士 1.14), the advice on choosing hospital and hospital consultation(3.69±1.21) and individual counseling(3.51±1.31). 4. According to specified role for parish nurse of subjects, the nursing demands were as follows: physical symptom management and preparation before death in spiritual preparation for death, blood pressure check in health examination, home visiting in the make a call patient, management of chronic disease in group health education, disease management in individual health education, choice of hospital in the advice on choosing hospital and hospital consultation and physical problems in individual counseling. 5. In relation to the characteristics of the subjects and their church and the general demands (the necessity of parish nursing services and intention of practice) for parish nursing services, these had non significant differences.6. In relation to the characteristics of the subjects and their church and the hope demands (duty pattern and method of payment and engagement intention of parish nurse as preacher) for parish nurses, these had non significant differences. In conclusion, the perception of parish nursing service was very high, also they had great demands for it. So Parish Nursing Service needs to do in order to promote health of the congregation. Before doing so, it would be better to make things known and to consider the relevant characteristics shown in the researched results.

This study proposed to identify the mediating effect of social support and stress on optimism and psychological well-being in clinical nurses. Methods: Data were collected through structured questionnaires. The participants of this study were 207 clinical nurses who worked at hospitals in the metropolitan cities of B & U. Data were collected from September 3 to September 30, 2013. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe`s test, Pearson`s correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with SPSS WIN v 20.0. Results: The mean scores of optimism, social support, stress, psychological well-being were 3.61±0.62, 3.65±0.64, 0.82±0.59, 3.36±0.38 respectively. Social support and stress showed mediating effects between optimism and psychological well-being. Conclusion: Based on this study, intervention programs to reduce stress and create support systems for clinical nurses should be developed to improve their psychological well-being.
