The synthesis of long chain fatty acid containing azobenzene and (C_n-Azo) was optimized, starting from p-(p`-hyroxy phenyl azo)-benzoic acid and the product of reaction containing azobenzene chromophores was investigated by ultraviolet spectrophotometery in chloroform solvent at the various temperature. In addition, Reversibility and stability of azo compounds have been measured by means of Ultraviolet and the structure of these compound were ascertained by means of FT-IR and NMR. Recrystallization of reaction product in the solvent results the experimental yield obtained about 62.93% p-(p`-octadecyloxy phenyl azo)-benzoic acid. Long chain azobenzene derivatives in chloroform solution aer induced photoisomerization by u. v. and visible light irradiation. The solution of long chain fatty acids(C_n-Azo) containing azobenzene are possible of being applied to functional molecular devices such as photomemory and light switching.
스테이터의 재질에 따른 Cross형 초음파 회전모터의 구동특성

Novel structure ultrasonic motors which have cross type stator were designed and fabricated. Driving characteristics of the motors were analyzed and measured by changing the materials of the stator. This ultrasonic motor has stator with hollowed cross bar and the stator rotate the rotor using elliptical displacement of the inside tips. This motion is generated by lateral vibration mode of cross bars. This stator was analyzed by finite element analysis depandent on stator's materials. And the cross type ultrasonic motors were made by analyzed results. The larger displacements were obtained, when the density of material was decreased. But the stress was increased when the stator's material has large density and Young's modulus. The fabricated one has high speed and torque in large stress on contact point between rotor and stator. The stress was more effected on speed and torque than the displacement.

The absorption spectra of synthesis of long chain fatty acid containing azobenzene start from p-(p`-hydroxy phenyl azo)-benzoic acid was investigated by ultraviolet spectrophotlmetery in chloroform solvent at the various temperature. In addition, The pressure-area of the water-air interface was obtained and the LB film was fabricated onto a quartz slide and quartz crystal by conventional Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) method. The UV absorption spectra of Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) film on quartz slide and spectrum of monolayer formed on quartz crystal have been measured. Long chain fatty acid containing azobenzene are induced phoisomerization by the application of u. v. and visible light irradiation alternatively the reversibility of photoisomerization was more clear difference when the number of C_n increased but, not so good at C_14-azo. At the pressure-area isotherms, the value of surface pressure increment were decreased when the number of C_n increased. A surface pressure of 20mN/m was obtained as a proper one for a film deposition. The photoismerization at LB films were induced by application of UV and visible light irradiation alternatively. So the LB film of long chain fatty acid containing azobenzene has possibility to being applied to functional molecular devices such as photomemory and light switching.
Crescent-shaped Input Type 원형압전변압기의 특성 연구

This paper presents a new disk-type piezoelectric transformer. The input side of the transformer has a crescent-shaped electrode and the output side has a focused poling direction. The piezoelectric transformers operated in each transformer's resonance vibration mode. The electrodes and poling directions on commercially available piezoelectric ceramic disks were designed so that the planar or shear mode coupling factor $(k_p\;k_{15})$ becomes effective rather than the transverse mode coupling factor $(k_{31})$. ANSYS finite element code was used to analyze transformer behavior and to optimize electrode and poling configurations. The voltage step-up ratio of the proposed transformer has been markedly improved in comparison with that of the equivalent rectangular(Rosen) type. A single layer prototype transformer, $20\sim30mm$ in diameter and $1.0\sim3.5mm$ thick, was fabricated, such as step-up ratio, power transformation efficiency, and temperature were measured. While the transformer was driving a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp(CCFL), the temperature field of the transformer was also observed.

A linear ultrasonic motor was designed by a combination of the longitudinal and bending mode. linear ultrasonic motors are based on an elliptical motion on the surface of elastic body, such as bar or plates. The corresponding eigen-mode of one resonance frequency can be excited twice at the same time with a phase shift of 90 degrees in space and time. That is excite symmetric and anti-symmetric modes. Then it determines the thrust and speed of the motor. Linear ultrasonic motors are investigated experimentally in according to be fabricated a general classification to motor structure and material characteristic. There was the first to simulate as use of finite element analysis ANSYS 9.0. The AL-T2W8-ARM14-LEG18-ANGLE80 motor has a maxim efficiency 18 % under the speed 0.14 m/s, thrust 345 gf and preload 280 gf, operating frequency is 57.6 kHz.
