Aprons are popularly used among women for domestic work. They also protect clothes from filth and at the same time become an ornamentation for fashion. Despite their important use at homes and restaurants, beauty parlors, and hotels, little study has been done on aprons. Commercialized aprons do not come in various forms, rather they use the same simple shape with different patterns. There has been no independent study done on aprons, however aprons have been studied as a part of uniform studies in the dining industry by Park and Na(2003) and uniform studies in the airline industry by Lee(2001) and Chung(2001). In this study, the author looked into aprons in accordance to the change of housing space and life style. Not only to be worn in the kitchen, but also to greet guests or for a walk in the neighborhood, the apron needs to have various functions and a trendy fashion. Designs to persue personality and high quality along with functionality and esthetical beauty were developed to present various functions of the apron.

Fashion Illustration has become a key method in expressing Fashion, and is being applied in various fields of the modern world, where changes are so rapid that prescribing trends are meaningless. Fashion Illustration was stimulated through progress of wood block printing and development of printing techniques, and grew with fashion magazines. Fashion Illustration advanced along with the appearance of newspapers and magazines that were emerged due to historical demands such as development of printing techniques, spacial spread of human life, obliteration of traditional societies, diffusion of education systems, progress in postal systems, and appearance of commercial broadcast. Fashion Illustration showed growth and decline along with the influence of mass media such as magazines and photography, and the general publics demand. In this study, the author reviews Le Nouvau Mercure Galant, the magazine that first dealt with Fashion Illustrations. The author analyses the magazine in six stages of formation, growth, revolution, golden-age, decline, and reconstruction, to develope a theoretical analysis of Fashion Illustration and to give direction of use of Fashion Illustration in the future.

아프리카 가면을 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션 연구

본 연구는 아프리카 가면의 제작 배경과 그 의미를 살펴보고, 아프리카 가면에서 영감을 얻어 제작된 유명 예술가들의 작품에 대한 사례 연구를 한 후, 아프리카 가면을 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션 작품을 제작하여 패션 일러스트레이션의 다양한 표현 소재와 새로운 아이디어를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 연구 내용은 아프리카 가면의 이론적 고찰을 통하여 아프리카 가면의 제작 용도와 배경에 대해 살펴본 후, 아프리카 가면을 응용한 현대미술의 작품 사례를 피카소, 마티스, 회흐의 회화 작품을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 이를 토대로 아프리카 가면을 응용한 패션일러스트레이션 작품을 개발하였다. 연구의 방법은 국내외 관련 문헌 및 선행연구 자료를 이용하여 이론적 고찰을 하였으며, 작품제작을 위해서는 아프리카 가면의 우수한 조형성을 응용하여 패션 일러스트레이션으로 표현해 보았다. 가면의 실루엣, 이목구비 표현, 피부에 새겨진 조각 등의 특징을 이용하여 얼굴 중심의 패션 일러스트레이션 6점을 개발하였다. 연구결과 아프리카 가면을 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션을 개발함에 있어서 전통적인 가면의 개념을 현대적으로 해석하여 패션 일러스트레이션에 도입함으로써 다양한 연구의 가능성을 보여주었다. 아프리카 가면에 나타난 상징적 의미를 지닌 기하학 문양이나 직선, 곡선, 점으로 보여 지는 모티브들을 연속, 대칭, 반복으로 표현함으로써 패션 일러스트레이션의 장식적 요소를 효과적으로 나타낼 수 있었다. The purpose of this study is to create fashion illustrations utilizing African masks, and suggesting various expression methods and new ideas through these illustrations. For this study, the author performs a theoretical research on historical backgrounds and significances of various African masks, mainly regarding the usage and production of these masks. Then the author researches cases of masterpiece paintings that were inspired by African masks. The case studies consists of paintings by Picasso, Matisse, and H?ch applying African masks to their works. Based on these studies, the author creates six fashion illustrations utilizing African masks, and analyzes expression methods of these works. The analysis of the illustrations focus on the silhouette of the mask, expressions of the face features, and the carvings on the faces. As a result, by adopting a modern style reinterpretation of the concept of African masks in fashion illustrations, various research possibilities were discovered. By using consecutive, symmetric, and repeating motifs of geometric patterns, straight and curved lines and dots retaining symbolic meanings of the African masks, the fashion illustrations" decorative elements were effectively expressed.

오리가미의 조형적 특성을 응용한 융합 가방디자인 연구

현대 사회는 개개인의 개성을 살릴 수 있는 디자인을 선호하고 공예적인 요소와 트렌디한 감성을 담은 제품으로 소비자의 감성을 자극하여 판매까지 이어지는 전략을 추구하는 사회로 변화하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 오리가미의 조형적 특성을 응용한 가방 디자인을 개발하여 현대인의 다양한 개성과 취향을 반영한 작품을 개발해 보고자 하는데서 시작하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 오리가미 기법의 공예적인 미와 핸드 페인팅의 창의적인 감성이 더해진 융합 가방 디자인 방법으로 연구하여 다양한 적용 및 발전 가능성을 제시하는데 이행하였다. 연구결과 및 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 오리가미의 조형적 특성 중 하나는 반복적인 접힘이며 이러한 반복성에 의해 만들어지는 선은 리듬감과 율동성을 느끼게 한다. 둘째, 오리가미와 페인팅 기법을 융합하여 가방 디자인에 적용했을 시 공예적 요소와 핸드 페인팅의 작품성이 고부부가 가치 디자인으로 재탄생될 수 있었다. 셋째, 오리가미의 기법은 한 장의 원단을 가지고 작업하는 것이 기본이기 때문에 제로웨이스트에 접근하기에 용이한 기법임을 알 수 있었다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 가방뿐만 아니라 의류, 예술작품 등의 융복합 디자인 개발에 다양하게 적용할 수 있음을 확인하였고 향후 현대 패션 디자인의 조형성을 연구하는 데 있어서 기초적인 연구 자료로 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다. Modern society is changing to a society that prefers designs that can save individual personality and pursues strategies that stimulate consumer sensibility and lead to sales with products that contain crafty elements and trendy sensibilities. Thus, this study was started by developing a bag design using the sculptural characteristics of origami to develop a work that reflects the diverse personalities and tastes of modern people. The purpose of this study is to study the artificial beauty of origami techniques and the fusion bag design method with the creative sensibility of hand painting to present various application and development possibilities. The results and contents of the study are as follows. First, one of the formative properties of origami is repetitive folding, and the lines created by this repeatability make it feel rhythmic and rhythmic. Second, the artificial elements and hand painting applied to the bag design by combining origami and painting techniques. The quality could be reborn as a high-value-added design. Third, we could see that origami"s technique is easy to access zero-waist because it is basic to work with a single fabric. Based on the research results, it has been confirmed that it can be applied in various ways to develop fusion designs such as clothes and artwork as well as bags, and it is expected to be used as basic research material for researching the plasticity of modern fashion designs in the future.

중국 소수민족 묘족 복식의 주석(朱錫) 자수를 응용한 가방 디자인 연구

민족 복식은 사회, 정치, 경제, 정신문화와 매우 밀접한 관계가 있으므로 민족 복식 문화에 관한 연구는 무형문화유산의 보호와 홍보에 중요한 의미가 있다. 묘족은 중국 소수민족 중 하나이며 묘족의 복식은 독특한 특성이 있다. 중국 소수민족 묘족 복식의 주석 자수는 세계에서 유례가 없는 금속 자수를 이용한 자수공예로, 2006년 중국 무형문화유산에 등재될 만큼 중요한 유산으로 이에 대한 연구는 다양하게 연구돼야 할 필요가 있다. 선행연구 결과 묘족 복식에 관한 연구는 다양하게 이루어지고 있으나 묘족 복식의 주석 자수를 응용한 선행연구는 미비하다. 그리고 주석 자수는 현재 실생활에 거리가 멀기 때문에 대중들에게 이해되고 받아들여지기 어려운 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 무형문화유산을 보호하고 묘족 주석 자수를 젊은 층에도 널리 알리기 위해 일상생활에서 유용하게 사용되는 가방 아이템을 선정하여 디자인을 개발하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 묘족 주석 자수의 문양을 추출하고 디자인하여 20대~30대의 젊은 층을 타깃으로 16개 가방 디자인을 제시하였다. 연구 결과 주석 자수는 시대의 심미적 요구에 맞으면서도 창의적인 디자인의 아이디어로 널리 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 주석 자수의 혁신적인 장식 스타일을 현대 디자인 분야에 더욱 폭넓게 응용하여 전통 민족 예술이 현대 디자인에서 새로운 생명력을 얻고, 민족문화의 독특성과 우수성을 높일 수 있기를 기대한다. National costume has a very close relationship with society, politics, economy and spiritual culture, so research on national costume culture is of great significance to the protection and propaganda of intangible cultural heritage. The Miao nationality, one of Chinas ethnic minorities, and the Miao costume has its own characteristics. Tin embroidery in the Miao costume is an unprecedented embroidery technique using metal embroidery in the world, and in 2006, tin embroidery was listed as Chinas intangible cultural heritage, so various studies on it need to be performed. The results of previous research show that although there are a lot of studies on the Miao costume, preliminary studies on the application of tin embroidery of the Miao costume are few. And tin embroidery is hard to be understood and accepted by the public because it is far from the real life at present. Thus, to protect intangible cultural heritage and also to make the young people know tin embroidery of the Miao nationality, this research selects bags, which are frequently-used in our daily life, for development and design. To this end, the pattern of tin embroidery of the Miao nationality is extracted and designed, and 16 bags are designed aiming at the young people at the age of 20-30 years old. The research results indicate that tin embroidery not only meets the aesthetic requirement of the times, but also can be widely used as an inspiration of creative design, hoping to apply the innovative decorative style of tin embroidery into modern design more widely, make traditional national art gain a new vitality in modern design.
