In a running blower, there are various exciting forces which can generate noise. The noise of an running industrial fan or blower depends on the structure of a fan, the machining accuracy of each element, and assembled conditions. Many studies have been carried out to reduce the noise of it. In this study, 3-hole buffs are used in pipe of blower to study the influence the number and position of buffs on the noise reduction at inlet and outlet in pipe. Commercial engineering software ANSYS and SYSNOISE were employed to analyze the characteristics and reduction ratio of pressure. It is concluded that optimal position and number of buffs in pipe of blower to show the least reduction ratio of pressure.

This study was performed to solve the breaking problem in the fine blanking(FB) process of sector gears for car seat recliner using nickel chrome molybdenum steel(SNCM220) plate. The optimal design of embossing circle is changed to oval with labors' experiences and finite element analysis. The maximum principal stress and effective strain in a forming process are analyzed by commercial finite element software to solve the problems in embossing stage of FB process. As a result of FE analysis, the maximum principal stress in forming is lower than yield point of material. It is shown from experiments in the modified die that the formed gear does not break in embossing stage.

The wavelet transform is a popular tool for studying intermittent and localized phenomena in signals. In this study the wavelet transform of cutting force signals was conducted for the detection of a tool failure in turning process. We used the Daubechies wavelet analyzing function to detect a sudden change in cutting signal level. A preliminary stepped workpiece which had intentionally a hard condition was cut by the inserted cermet tool and a tool dynamometer obtained cutting force signals. From the results of the wavelet transform, the obtained signals were divided into approximation terms and detailed terms. At tool failure, the approximation signals were suddenly increased and the detailed signals were extremely oscillated just before tool failure.
