Signalment: An 8-month-old female Alaskan malamute was presented for progressive cluster seizure disorder. Results: There were no abnormalities on neurological examination, survey radiographs, or blood analysis. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and computed tomography revealed extension of the olfactory bulb and frontal lobe into the nasal cavity. They also confirmed abnormal anatomy of the nasal turbinates within the rostral part of the nasal cavity and the absence of a cribriform plate. On T2-weighted and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery images, the herniated brain showed heterogeneous and hyperintense signals consistent with intraparenchymal edema. Transverse MR images showed brain herniation into the right frontal cavity and an asymmetrical lateral ventricle because of a left midline shift. On contrast-enhanced MR images, the protruding brain parenchyma was mildly enhanced. Ethmoidal encephalocele was suspected as the final diagnosis. Despite symptomatic treatment, the dog continued to exhibit seizures and was euthanized. Clinical relevance: Ethmoidal encephalocele is a rare disease in dogs. However, it could be considered as a cause of seizure in young dogs.

Culture, State, and Education in Matthew Arnold

This article focuses on investigating culture, state, and education in Arnold's book Culture and Anarchy. By culture, firstly, he tries to establish the harmony between hellenism and hebraism in the history of human life. This work is to find out the source of the true human self and to develop the best self by right reason and the will of God. More concretely, he would rebuild the broken harmony between intelligence and conduct. Secondly, he has paid attention to the state as the organ of the collective best self and of national right reason. Thirdly, the duty of the state is to teach the true human culture. For him, education is to develop morality in character to realize the general perfection in the true life.

Bioethics, Moral Education, and the Potential Relationship between Humans and robotics in the Future : Utilizing the motives of Avatar and Surrogates

This paper aims to explore the potential relationship between humans and AI robotics and to suggest its challenge to the moral education of bioethics. To understand the advance of new technologies and AI robotics, I would utilize the motives of Avatar and Surrogates. In the ontological and existential view, the former gives us another task to define AI robots as independent species and the latter enables us to reflect the understanding of human dignity and the true human face to face. In the prescriptive and normative view, it is arguable whether or not both are justified in terms of the enhancement and improvement of human nature. At that point, the real and basic issue in the moral education of bioethics related to technology in future is not the problem of using machine in life, but the perspective of potential relationship between humans and AI robotics. In Korea, the curriculum of moral education is based on the conception of relationship to oneself, to others, to society-community, and to nature-transcendence. It is time to deal with the perspective of any new relationship in the moral education of bioethics to establish the critical foundation by a dialogue procedure in which students discuss and agree in complicated bioethical issues and dilemmas.

성인 남성들의 피부 인식 및 관심 정도

This study investigated degree on perception and interest for skin of adult men``s. Then, the results found the following; regarding subjects general information, 30``s was the highest with 37.3% in terms of age. In terms of education, marital status and occupation, college graduates(56.0%), married(59.1%) and self-employed and services(37.1%) were the highest respectively. When asked about their skin type 42.9% responded I don``t know. Among the respondents who knew their skin type, oily skin was the highest with 32.7%, followed by dry skin and combination. In overall, interest in skin was lower than the average. When asked about the necessity of skin care in their social lives following the trend of the times, they responded pretty much(higher than the average) with 3.45 scores in average. as younger, interest in skin was higher. generally, the necessity of skin care was 3.54 scores, slightly higher than the average. When asked how often they use any UV blocker to protect their skin, none was most responded with 45.7%, followed by occasionally(38.3%) and always(16.0%).

복부 둔상에 의한 간손상 환자의 비수술적 치료

복부 둔상으로 발생한 간 손상시 과거에는 일률적으로 개복술을 시행하였으나, 최근에는 그 치료 방침이 바뀌고 있다. 혈역동학적으로 안정된 환자군에서는 비수술적 치료를 시행하기도 한다. 저자들은 혈역동학적으로 안정되어 있으며, 복강내 타장기의 손상이 없는 간 손상 환자 7예에서 비수술적 치료를 시행하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 전예에서 aspartate aminotransferase 및 alanine aminotranaferase의 상승이 있었으며 2주 후에 정상화 되었다. 2주 간격으로 추적한 컴퓨터 단층 촬영 소견의 변화는 손상 정도에 따라 차이가 있었다. Grade III의 경우는 열상부위가 완전히 소멸되는데 6주가 걸렸으며, Grade I,II의 경우는 4~6주 경과후에 소실되었다. 혈종%의 소실에 걸리는 시간도 대개 4~6주가 걸렸으나 혈종의 크기에 따라 차이가 있었다. 1예를 제외한 6예에서 성공하였으나, 1예에서는 다량의 담즙 누출에 의한 복막염으로 개복술이 필요하였다. Several significant advances in the treatment of hepatic injuries have evolved over the past decade. Non-operative treatment of blunt hepatic injury is one of the recent changes in the treatment of blunt hepatic injury. Nonoperative management of 7 cases of liver injury due to blunt abdominal trauma in 1991-1992 is retrospectively reviewed. All patient except 1 case were hemodynamically stable and alert. Final diagnosis and follow-up were done with computer tomography. The grade of hepatic injury of the patient was I to IV. At admission all patient had high serum aminotransferase which was normalized after 2wks. The edge of laceration disappeared after 4-6 weeks on the follow-up CT films. All but 1 case had successful clincal course. But we failed in 1 case(Grade IV) due to bile leakage. As conclusion, we suggest that nonoperative treatment is a safe method for the blunt hepatic injury patients who are hemodynamically stable and alert as previous reports.

Aromatherapy is a treatment which recovers the balance of mind and body. This is an application to human body, using aroma oil, that is, volatile oil contained in roots, fowers, leaves, stems, shells and seeds of special herbs and cells of fruits, etc. Aroma oil promotes immunocompetence, has an effect on all internal organs, glands and functions of hormones and heightens resistance to mold. And also it stimulates the nerves and rests our mind by intensifying or relaxing muscles, so it helps remove slight symptoms of everylife rather than severe diseases. This treatise shows you the usage and principles of aromatherapy good for beautiful skin. It counteracts poisonous characters of a body through bathing, foot-bathing, spreading, drinking, inhaling, massage and wet-compressing, promotes to renew cells and then cures and improves the quality of the skin. And also the fragrance of aroma oil stimulates the central nerve linked with the sense of the smell and stabilizes the balanced state of the mind. That has a good effect on mental improvement and stress management. This aromatherapy has been known good for beautiful skin and used in massage salons for 2 to 3 years. New aromatherapy is reported on its effects and approved in medical science as enough as doctors and herb doctors make the institute authorized. Aromatherapy is accessible to causes of diseases not to be seen which are coming from irregular living habits throughout long times and normalizes and improves functions of skin. So I hope the aromatherapy becomes stable and practical skin management and popularized so as to be vital tonics and living science as well as alternative medical science.

Effect of Inclusion of Lacquer (Rhus verniciflua Stokes) Meal on Carcass Traits and Meat Quality in Growing-finishing Pigs

In this study, pigs [n=117; (Landrace ${\times}$ Yorkshire) ${\times}$ Duroc; $64{\pm}0.5$ Kg initial body weight] were used to investigate the effect of feeding different levels of lacquer (Rhus verniciflua Stokes) meal on performance, carcass traits and quality of meat kept under refrigeration at $3{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. The pigs were randomly allotted to 3 treatments on the basis of body weight and sex and each treatment was replicated 3 times (13 pigs in each replicate). Lacquer meal in sawdust form obtained from the stem bark and heartwood of sun-dried lacquer trees was added to the grower and finisher diets at 0, 20 and 40 g/kg diet. The experimental diets were fed for 8 wk. Inclusion of lacquer meal had no influence (p>0.05) on growth performance of pigs. Improvement in carcass traits and decreased back fat thickness were noticed in pigs fed diets added with 20 and 40 g/kg lacquer meal. Longissimus muscle obtained from pigs fed lacquer meal had higher moisture and lower fat content, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and water holding capacity. Meat from lacquer fed pigs was also darker and redder. The data indicates that lacquer meal can be incorporated up to 40 g/kg in the diet of fattening pigs without affecting growth performance. Also, lacquer meal increases carcass lean content and improves the oxidative stability of the meat.

뇌동맥류의 진단에 대한 전산화단층촬영 뇌혈관조영술과 고식적 뇌혈관조영술의 비교

Cerebral angiography has been essential for the diagnosis of the intracranial aneurysms but. is sometimes accompanied by serious complications. Resolution of CT angiography was up-graded greatly to represent the three-demensional structure of vesseles since helical CT had been introduced. We have compared 26 cases of CT angiography and 28 cases of conventional angiography in terms of specificity and sensitivity for the diagnosis detectable aneurysm diameter. configurational diagnosis and diagnostic confidency. All results showed no statistical difference between CT angiography and conventional angiography. These should suggest that CT angiography could be replaced with conventional angiography for the diagnosis of ruptured aneurysms and even of unruptured aneurysms. resulting in the introduction of first screening modality of unruptured aneurysms.
