• A Population-based Case-control Study on Risk Factors for Gastric Cardia Cancer in Rural Areas of Linzhou

        Sun, Chang-Qing,Chang, Yu-Bo,Cui, Ling-Ling,Chen, Jia-Jun,Sun, Nan,Zhang, Wei-Jie,Jia, Xiao-Can,Tian, Yuan,Dai, Li-Ping Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.5

Gastric cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths in the world. Although certain dietary factors and lifestyles have been suggested to be associated with gastric carcinogenesis, there have been few investigations focusing on rural areas. A case-control study was therefore carried out to investigate the risk factors of gastric cardia cancer (GCC) in rural areas of Linzhou. A total of 470 newly diagnosed cases of GCC and 470 healthy controls were included. Face-to-face interviews were conducted, using a uniform questionnaire containing questions on demographics, per capita income, living habits, dietary habits and family history of tumors. The relationship between putative risk factors and GCC was assessed by odds ratios (OR) and their 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) derived from conditional logistic regression model by the COXREG command using SPSS 12.00. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate simultaneously the effects of multiple factors and other potential confounding factors. Multivariate logistic analysis showed that smoking (OR=1.939, 95%CI:1.097-3.426), alcohol drinking (OR=2.360, 95%CI: 1.292-4.311), hot food consumption (OR=2.034, 95%CI: 1.507-2.745), fast eating (OR=1.616, 95%CI: 1.171-2.230), mouldy food (OR=4.564, 95%CI: 2.682-7.767), leftover food (OR=1.881. 95%CI: 1.324-2.671), and family history of tumor (OR=2.831, 95%CI: 1.588-5.050) were risk factors for GCC. High per capita income (OR=0.709, 95%CI: 0.533-0.942), high education level (OR=0.354, 95%CI: 0.163-0.765), consumption of fresh fruits (OR=0.186, 95%CI: 0.111-0.311) and vegetables (OR=0.243, 95%CI: 0.142-0.415), and high BMI (OR=0.367, 95%CI: 0.242-0.557) were protective factors for GCC. Our data indicate that unhealthy lifestyle and dietary habits might be important contributors to GCC in this population.

Actin nucleator Arp2/3 complex is essential for mouse preimplantation embryo development

        Sun, Shao-Chen,Wang, Qing-Ling,Gao, Wei-Wei,Xu, Yong-Nan,Liu, Hong-Lin,Cui, Xiang-Shun,Kim, Nam-Hyung CSIRO Publishing 2013 Reproduction, fertility, and development Vol.25 No.4

The Arp2/3 complex is a critical actin nucleator, which promotes actin assembly and is widely involved in a diverse range of actin-related processes such as cell locomotion, phagocytosis and the establishment of cell polarity. Previous studies showed that the Arp2/3 complex regulates spindle migration and asymmetric division during mouse oocyte maturation; however, the role of the Arp2/3 complex in early mouse embryo development is still unknown. The results of the present study show that the Arp2/3 complex is critical for cytokinesis during mouse embryo development. The Arp2/3 complex was concentrated at the cortex of each cell at the 2- to 8-cell stage and the peripheral areas of the morula and blastocyst. Inhibition of the Arp2/3 complex by the specific inhibitor CK666 at the zygote stage caused a failure in cell division; mouse embryos failed to undergo compaction and lost apical-basal polarity. The actin level decreased in the CK666-treated group, and two or more nuclei were observed within a single cell, indicating a failure of cell division. Addition of CK666 at the 8-cell stage caused a failure of blastocyst formation, and CDX2 staining confirmed the loss of embryo polarity and the failure of trophectoderm and inner cell mass formation. Taken together, these data suggest that the Arp2/3 complex may regulate mouse embryo development via its effect on cell division.

      • Expression of DOG1, CD117 and PDGFRA in Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors and Correlations with Clinicopathology

Sun, Xiu-Wei,Feng, Zhan-Jun,Huang, Peng,Hao, Wang,Sui, Xing-Ling Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.4

Objective: To discuss the significance of DOG1, CD117 and PDGFRA in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), and analyze their correlations with clinicopathological features and risk ranking. Method: DOG1, CD117 and PDGFRA were detected with IHC Envision ldpe-g-nvp in 63 GISTs and 43 cases of non-GISTs, and analyzed for relations with clinicopathological factors (gender, age, location, tumor size, mitotic phase, histology) and risk degree. Results: The positive expression rate of DOG1, CD117 and PDGFRA in GISTs was 84.1% (53/63), 90.5% (57/63), 53.2% (33/63), respectively. Among the 6 CD117 negative cases, all were DOG1 positive and 5 were PDGFRA positive. Rates in patients with non-GISTs was 11.6%, 16.3%, 6.98%, respectively. Expression of DOG1 and PDGFRA demonstrated no significant variation with gender, age, position, tumor size, mitotic phase, histology, and risk rank. However, CD117 was related with position and histology (P=0.008 and P=0.045), those in the mesentery having a higher positive rate than those derived from stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum (50.0% vs 94.7%, P=0.008). Furthermore CD117 was also highly expressed in spindle and epithele types. Conclusions: DOG1 had a good sensitivity and specificity as a kind of newly discovered marker, especially for KIT negative GISTs. However, DOG1, CD117 and PDGFRA cannot be used for assessing the rish of patients.

      • Knockdown of Med19 Suppresses Proliferation and Enhances Chemo-sensitivity to Cisplatin in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Cells

        Wei, Ling,Wang, Xing-Wu,Sun, Ju-Jie,Lv, Li-Yan,Xie, Li,Song, Xian-Rang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.3

Mediator 19 (Med19) is a component of the mediator complex which is a coactivator for DNA-binding factors that activate transcription via RNA polymerase II. Accumulating evidence has shown that Med19 plays important roles in cancer cell proliferation and tumorigenesis. The involvement of Med19 in sensitivity to the chemotherapeutic agent cisplatin was here investigated. We employed RNA interference to reduce Med19 expression in human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines and analyzed their phenotypic changes. The results showed that after Med19 siRNA transfection, expression of Med19 mRNA and protein was dramatically reduced (p<0.05). Meanwhile, impaired growth potential, arrested cell cycle at G0/G1 phase and enhanced sensitivity to cisplatin were exhibited. Apoptosis and caspase-3 activity were increased when cells were exposed to Med19 siRNA and/or cisplatin. The present findings suggest that Med19 facilitates tumorigenic properties of NSCLC cells and knockdown of Med19 may be a rational therapeutic tool for lung cancer cisplatin sensitization.

      • Research of Shanghai Cruise Industry Chain Distribution of Benefits

        Ling Sun,Li Tang,Xiao-di Bao,Wei Liu 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Smart Home Vol.10 No.10

Based on the Shanghai cruise industry research, this cruise industry chain has problems with balance. Game theory was used and imbalance mainly due to lack of shipbuilding enterprises and proprietary cruises, and also because foreign cruise companies dominate Shanghai cruise industry chain. Learning from the successful experience of foreign cruise homeports’ development, the paper considers transferring the chain’s dominant right to the port enterprise gradually. Using Shapley Model to solve benefits distribution of cruise industry chain dominated by port companies. The profits distribution ratio of cruise companies, port companies and service supporting enterprises is13/48:47/96:23/96. Nash Model was also used to study the benefits distribution of industry chain whose member companies are equal. Modeling results show that Shapley Model corresponds with the requirements of benefit maximization. Finally, a validation analysis was done and proved that only the cruise industry chain leaded by homeport that can maximize the economic benefits.

Dynamics of a High‑voltage Switchgear System Excited by Earthquake

        Tao Sun,Wei Wang,Shuji Yang,Ling Li 대한전기학회 2020 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.15 No.2

Mechanical failure of the high-voltage switchgear induced by vibration will cause the fault of electric system. It is necessary to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of switchgear in advance. In this paper, a numerical dynamic model of the whole switchgear system excited by earthquake is developed in Finite Element Method. Vibration characteristics are acquired by modal analysis. Structural deformation, under the seismic load, is also obtained in response spectrum analysis. Modal analysis indicates that resonance of system is not serious. While, results from response spectrum analysis show a largest deformation in rear cabinet wall, which is consistent with the deformation trend shown in modal shapes. The experiment data in the fnished Shaking Table Test show an agreement with simulation results as well. Analysis results show that the switchgear has a good aseismic performance

A National Study of Survival Trends and Conditional Survival in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma: Analysis of the National Population-Based Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results Registry

        Jia-Wei Lv,Xiao-Dan Huang,Yu-Pei Chen,Guan-Qun Zhou,Ling-Long Tang,Yan-Ping Mao,Wen-Fei Li,Ai-Hua Lin,Jun Ma,Ying Sun 대한암학회 2018 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.50 No.2

Purpose Conditional survival (CS) provides important information on survival for a period of time after diagnosis. Currently, information on CS patterns of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is lacking. We aimed to analyze survival rate over time and estimate CS for NPC patients using a national population-based registry. Materials and Methods Patients diagnosed with NPC between 1973 and 2007 with at least 5-year follow-up were identified from the Surveillance Epidemiology End Results registry. Traditional survival rates and crude CS estimates were calculated using Kaplan-Meier analysis. Risk-adjusted survival curves were plotted from the proportional hazards model using the correct group prognosis method. Results For 7,713 patients analyzed, adjusted baseline 5-year overall survival improved significantly from 36.0% in patients diagnosed in 1973-1979, 41.7% in 1980-1989, 46.6% in 1990- 1999, to 54.7% in 2000-2007 (p < 0.01). CS analysis demonstrated that for every additional year survived, adjusted probability of surviving the next 5 years increased from 66.7% (localized), 54.0% (regional), and 35.3% (distant) at the time of diagnosis, to 83.7% (localized), 75.0% (regional), and 62.2% (distant) for patients who had survived 5 years. Adjusted 5-year CS differed among age, sex, tumor histology, ethnicity, and stage subgroups initially, but converged with time. Conclusion Treatment outcomes of NPC patients have greatly improved over the decades. Increases in CS become more prominent in patients with distant disease than in those with localized or regional disease as patients survive longer. CS provides more dynamic prognostic information for patients who have survived a period of time after diagnosis.

Vibration response and parameter influence of TBM cutterhead system under extreme conditions

        Jingxiu Ling,Wei Sun,Xiaojing Yang,Xin Tong,Ning Zhang 대한기계학회 2018 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.32 No.10

A cutterhead endures complex random loads when the TBM tunnels, which leads to structure excessive vibration, due to the extreme working conditions. So anti-vibration design is key in the cutterhead system design. In this study we established a virtual prototype of TBM mainframe system, comprehensively considering the spatial multi-point random excitations, split cutterhead structure and multidirectional support stiffness of the main bearing, etc., based on multi-body system dynamics and virtual prototype technology. For verifying the virtual prototype model, a TBM cutterhead vibration field detection system was constructed, to test the cutterhead accelerations and compare the simulation and measured results. The results show that the acceleration change rule by the two approaches is similar, and the maximum relative error is 55 %, keeping on the same order of magnitude, which illustrates the established model has certain reliability. Accordingly, an orthogonal test scheme for cutterhead radial vibration analysis was designed, to analyze the influence of different parameters on cutterhead vibration, based on the virtual prototype model. As indicated in the analysis, the parameter of cutter force had the greatest influence on cutterhead vibration, and then the pinion support stiffness and cutterhead rotating speed. Last, the cutterhead vibration optimal schemes in different directions were confirmed. The research results and methods can provide reference for TBM system parameters matching.
