      • 고양이에서 영양학적인 원인에 의해 발생한 속발성 부갑상선기능항진증 1례

        A 10 month-old Korean domestic shorthaired cat(male, 1.4kg)was admitted to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University with the history of astasia the onest of which was 3 month ago and all-meat diets. Physical examination revealed thin, growth retarded and lying in lateral recumbency. Radiograph showed abnormally radiolucent bones, thin cortices, kyphosis and lordosis of the spine and multiple fractures of the femurs. Result of serum biochemical test revealed mild hypocarcemia. Serum parathormone and 1, 25(OH)2-vitamin D3 levels were markedly elevated, whereas 25(OH)-vitamin D3 level was in normal range. Nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism was diagnosed by history taking, physical examination, laboratory examination and radiography. Calcium gluconate with balanced commercial cat food was given. On 24 days later, improvements were found in clinical signs and radiographs.

      • 개에서 발생한 만성 단독 비장 염전의 진단 및 치료 1례

        A 5-year-old German Shepherd dog(intact male, 27kg) was admitted to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University with the history of anorexia and vomiting. On physical examination, he was depressed and had abdominal distention. A complete blood count indicated leukocytosis and anemia. Radiographic findings included a large soft tissue mass in the middle to caudal abdomen and loss of serosal detail. Ultrasonographs showed splenomegaly with mixed ethoic parenchyma, hyperechoic area around the splenic hilus, and loss of venous flow. Computed tomography revealed enlarged spleen with partially enhanced parenchyma. Chronic isolated splenic torsion was diagnosed and splenectomy was performed. Histopathologic examination revealed chronic passive congestion of the spleen. He was recovered normally after surgery without any complications.

      • 선천성 대사 이상 환아에서 발생한 대사 위기의 복막 투석 치료 효과

        Purpose : We have evaluated the outcomes of peritoneal dialysis in patients with metabolic crises caused by in born error of metabolism. Methods : There are 6 patients(8 episodes, 4 males and 2 females) who had inherited inborn errors of metabolism and were admitted to the department of pediatrics, Shoonchunhyang university hospital in Seoul from December 1991 to December 1994. The technique of dialysis is discribed, in short: A Tenckhoff catheter was inserted surgically in all patients through the lateral abdominal wall. Commerically available dialysate solutions(Peritosol, Korea Green Cross Co.) was applied to 5 patients(7 cases) with hyperammonemia. In a patient with propionic acidemia, we used a special custiom made dialysate that replaces lactate by bicarbonate. Results : 1) The mean age was 5.3 months old. There were 6 patients with 8 episodes. Six cases had Ornithin transcarbamylase deficiency. The remaining cases are Multiple carboxylase deficiency and Propionic acidemia (Table 1) 2) In 7 cases with hyperammonemia, mean levels of pre and post 24hrs peritoneal dialysis serum ammonia were 1000.2±310.9 ㎍/dl and 388.8 ±156.7 ㎍/dl at 24 hours respectively. Time on serum ammonia levels reached below 300 ㎍/dl was 88.7 ±39.6 ㎍/dl hours. 3) Four out of seven cases were a recorvert of mental status. Each episode of serum ammonia mean levels was 388.8 ±156.7 ㎍/dl after 19.7 ±5.8 hours of peritoneal dialysis (Table 3). 4) Peak serum ammonia levels of the survived group reached 1356.5 ㎍/dl, higher than the expired group of 847.5 ㎍/dl and time period of starting peritoneal dialysis after onset of the survived group was 15.5 hours earlier than the expired group of 23 hours(P>0.05)(Table 4). 5) 3 out of 7 cases of hyperammonemia died. The cause if death were 3 brain edema, 1 hyperkalemla and 1 intracranlal hemorrhage. 6) In onecase with Multiple carboxylase deficiency, serum ammonia level was normalized after 12 hours of peritoneal dialysis. The reduction of serum levels of the branched amino acid was also observed. 7) In a case of Propionic acidemia with severe metabolic acidosis, the prior serum bicarbonate level was 8 mmol/L and was increased up to 18 mmol/L by peritoneal dialysis lasting 19 hours. 8) Among 8 cases, complications of peritoneal dialysis were 5 hypoalbuminemia, 4 hyoercalcemia, 4 hyperglycemia and leakage of peritoneal dialysate. Conclusions : In cases of hyperammonemia, survival rate is 57.1%. They are showed excellant efficacy of treatment of peritoneal dialysis for metabolic crises. In a case of propinic acidemia is fastly corrected by peritoneal dialysis. But unfortunally clinical manifestations is not improved. Therefore, further studies is required with treatment of severe metabolic acidic conditions.

        This paper proposed a design technique of multimedia document editing system by using object-oriented methodology and its implementation using object-oriented language. The multimedia document editing system can generate a mixed document which consists of text, image, graphic and video, verifying the results by formatting document and process the information of position per page. The hierachical structured design of the class library is proposed where document processing methodolgy and object-oriented one are employed. The system is implemented with Turbo C++ package which provides object-oriented compiling function on a PC.

        Inhibitory Effect of Clavicepitaceae on Serotonin Release out of Human Platelets and Human Platelet Aggregation

        We have investigated the effects of hypha-water extracts (HWE), fruit body-water extracts (FWE) and cordycepin from Cordyceps militaris on serotonin release out of human platelets and human platelet aggregation. HWE and FWE inhibited the release of [^(3)H]-serotonin from human platelet stimulated by thrombin (2 U/ml) or collagen (20 ㎍/ml) in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, cordycepin, a major component of Cordyceps militaris, inhibited the human platelet aggregation induced by collagen (10 ㎍/ml) in a dose-dependent manner. These results suggest that cordycepin containing in HWE and FWE may inhibit the serotonin release by suppressing the collagen-induced human platelet aggregation. Accordingly, our data demonstrate that HWE and FWE containing much cordycepin might have antithrombotic and antimigrainous functions.

      • UV-TiO₂광촉매 반응기를 이용한 미생물의 살균효과

        UV-TiO_(2) 반응기를 이용하여 Escherichia coli와 Aspergillus oryzae var. oryzae의 살균효과를 측정하였다. 254 ㎚에서 최대 14 watt의 자외선 방출량을 내는 램프를 원형 Pyrex유리관 중앙에 설치하였고 TiO_(2)는 석영관에 박막증착(Thin Film Coating)된 형태와 슬러리 형태로 나누어 회분식으로 살균정도를 측정하였다. E. coli에 대한 살균력은 1.7× 10^(7) cells/㎖에 대해 5분간 자외선 조사를 하였을 경우 2.0× 10^(2) cells/㎖으로 감소하였고, 자외선 조사와 함께 슬러리 형태의 TiO_(2)를 첨가하였을 경우에는 3.4× 10 cells/㎖으로, 자외선 조사와 함께 TiO_(2)가 석영관에 박막증착된 경우에는 7.6× 10^(2) cells/㎖으로 감소하였다. 한편 위와 같은 조건에 유리관 하부에서 기포를 주입후 11분 동안 자외선을 조사시킨 경우에는 1.3× 10^(2) cells/㎖으로, 자외선 조사와 함께 슬러리 형태의 TiO_(2)를 첨가하였을 경우에는 1× 100 cells/㎖으로, 자외선 조사와 함께 TiO_(2)가 박막증착된 경우에는 7.9× 10 cells/㎖을 나타내었다. 결국 UV-TiO_(2) 반응기에 사용되는 TiO_(2)가 슬러리 형태일 때 최대 살균효과를 나타내었으나 기포가 첨가되었을때는 오히려 살균에 장애를 받는 것으로 나타난 반면 석영관에 박막증착된 경우에는 기포가 첨가되는 것이 살균에 효과적인 것으로 관찰되었다. The killing effect of UV-TiO_(2) photocatalytic system on the Escherichia coli DH5-慣 and Aspergillus oryzae var. oryzae (KCTC 6095) was studied. The UV lamp which emits maximum 14 watts at 254 nm was set on the center of pyrex round glass tube. Two types of TiO_(2), one of which is slurry and another which is thin film coated form, were used to determine the killing effect. When UV was irradiated to 1.7 * 10^(5) cells/??of E. coli for 11 min, the living cell number decreased to 4.0 * 1.0^(0) cells/?? The effect of UV system together with slurried TiO_(2) was less than 1 cells/?? whereas that of UV-coated TiO_(2) system decreased to 7.1 * 10^(3) cells/?? To study the effect of bubble on the killing of microorganisms, air was bubbled to the bottom of glass tube. When 1.7 * 10^(5) cells/??were exposed to UV for 11 min in combination with air bubble, the living cell number decreased to 1.3 x 10^(2) cells/?? In the same condition except the addition of slurried TiO_(2), the living cells were 1 * 10^(2) cells/?? However, more cells could be killed by the system which consists of UV, coated TiO_(2), and air bubble (7.9 * 10^(1) cells/??. From these results, it was found that UV-slurried system is the most effective one, but its killing effect is not stimulated by air bubble. However, bubbling was very effective in the UV-coated TiO_(2) system.

      • Putrescine처리가 절화 카네이션 'Desio'의 화판 노화에 미치는 영향 : Ethylene 발생, ACC synthase, EFE 활성변화 Change of ethylene production and ACC synthase and EFE activities

        절화 카네이션 'Desio' 품종의 화판 노화시 발생되는 에칠렌의 발생량은 계절에 따라 달라 2월경 채화된 것은 약 70nl/g·FW/hr를 나타내었으나, 7월에 채화된 것은 4.3nl/g·FW/hr 불과했다. 폴리아민 중 put의 10mM 처리는 EFE의 활성과 에칠렌의 발생을 억제시키고 화판의 노화를 지연시켰으나, 대조구나 put 1Mm의 처리구에 비해 높은 ACC synthase의 활성을 나타내었다. 한편, 1mM put 처리는 ACC synthase의 활성이 억제됨에도 불구하고 에칠렌이 생성되어졌다. 이러한 사실은 기작이 명확치 않으나 put처리가 에칠렌 생합성 과정중 EFE보다 ACC synthase의 활성에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것을 나타내며, 내생 폴리아민의 농도에 따라 외생 폴리아민의 카네이션 화판의 노화에 미치는 영향이 다름을 나타낸다. Ethylene evolution on the senescence of petals of cut carnation cv. Desio was varied according to the cultural seasons, where 70 ul/g·fw/hr of ethylene was produced in Feb. harvest, but only 4.3 ul/g·fw/hr in July. Despite that 10mM putrescine treatment on the petals inhibited ethylene production and EFE activity, and delayed the senescence, it rapidly stimulated ACC synthase activity over those of control and 1mM putrescine treatment. In addition, ethylene was produced in the 1mM putrescine treatment even though ACC synthase acitiviy was inhibited. This fact indicates that purtrescine has influence on rather EFE than ACC synthase on the biosynthesis of ethylene and the effect of exogenous polyamines on the senescence is varied according to the level of endogenous polamines in the petals of cut carnation.

      • 중환자에서 동맥혈 가스분석 횟수와 그로인한 실혈량에 대한 연구

        Background : Arterial blood gas analysis is the most comon exam in intensive care unit. In this study, the frequency of blood gas analysis and the amount of blood loss after Blood Gas Analysis in Intensive Care Unit were observed. Methods : From November 1999 to February 2000, 115 patients admitted to intensive care unit at Soonchunhyang university Kumi hospital were studied prospectively for the frequency of blood gas analysis and the amount of blood loss after blood gas analysis in Intensive Care Unit. Results : The mean value of frequency of blood gas analysis was 6.41±6.49 and the mean value of amount of blood loss after blood gas analysis was 0.78ml. This was lower than that of other foreign reports. The patients with ventilator therapy above 24 hours showed higher frequency of blood gas analysis than that of not applied ventilator patients. Pulse oxymetry was applied to all patients and the frequency of blood gas analysis was decreased due to the use of strict pulse oxymetry. Conclusion : Doctors and nurses in intensive care unit keep in mind that adequate blood sampling is needed for the decrease of blood loss. Education and protocol for the decrease of blood loss after arterial blood gas analysis may be necessary.
