Several clinical variants of bullous pemphigoid have been described (e.g. generalized, vesicular, nodular, polymorphic, vegetans, and localized). Dyshidrosiform pemphigoid is an unusual form of the localized variant of bullous pemphigoid, and was first described in 1979. It presents with a localized, persistent, vesicobullous eruption similar to dyshidrosiform dermatitis. Herein, we report a case of dyshidrosiform pemphigoid which presented with bullae localized to both the palms and soles. (Korean J Dermatol 2007;45(5):492~495)

Kaposi sarcoma is a lympho-angioproliferative disease of the skin and viscera. Because the natural history of Kaposi sarcoma is variable, the assessment of therapy may be difficult and optimal therapy has yet to be determined. Pentoxifylline has been used to treat various dermatologic diseases, but its effectiveness in Kaposi sarcoma has not been reported. We now report a case of Kaposi sarcoma in a 76-year-old man who improved after treatment with oral pentoxifylline. (Korean J Dermatol 2009;47(7):811~814)

Interests in tourism and leisure have increased with the quality of life in Korea. The government takes the lead in development of tourism for balanced development between regions and local governments use development of tourism as a means for vitalization of local economy. The sustainable and eco-friendly development plan is required for the tourism development, because it needs effective use of limited natural resources and consideration of environmental capacity in the region. This study analyzed the trend of tourism development during nine years, and problems with respect to planning and environment aspects on the basis of four examples which follow recent development trend. We suggest improvement plan that 1) establishment of consistency and systematics of tourism development, 2) enforcement of setting up regional tourism development plan, 3) comprehensive and systematic plan establishment in consideration of private sector, 4) reasonable adjustment and environmental management for development project of approval organization, 5) removal of duplicate regulations for development project. Application of the improvement plan while setting up tourism plan could contribute to vitalization of local economy, and environmental preservation and management.
유채박의 알칼리 가수분해물을 이용한 합판용 접착제의 개발

현재 석유화학계 접착제는 합판과 같은 목질계 판상재료 생산을 위하여 주로 사용되고 있다. 그러나 석유화학계 접착제의 기본 원료인 원유의 가격 상승과 포름알데히드 방산과 같은 문제로 대체 접착제에 대한 개발이 절실한 상황이다. 본 연구는 석유화학계 접착제를 대체하기 위하여 바이오 디젤 부산물인 유채박을 이용하여 접착제를 조제하였으며, 이 접착제를 합판 제조에 적용한 후 접착능 및 포름알데히드 방산량을 조사함으로써 유채박의 합판용 접착제 제조를 위한 원료화 가능성을 확인하고자 하였다. 유채박 접착제 조제를 위하여 먼저 유채박을 수산화나트륨으로 화학적으로 개량한 후, phenol formaldehyde (PF) prepolymer와 혼합하여 접착제를 제조하고 그 접착제를 합판 제조에 적용하였다. 유채박 접착제는 가수분해 조건과 PF prepolymer의 몰비에 따라 26.08∼36.12%의 고형분 함량을 보유하였으나, 점도가 매우 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 한편 유채박 접착제로 제조된 합판의 인장 전단강도와 목파율은 유채박의 가수분해 조건과 PF prepolymer의 종류와 상관없이 KS 규격의 보통합판 품질기준을 상회하였다. 포름알데히드 방산량은 1.8몰의 포름알데히드와 1몰의 phenol로 조제한 PF prepolymer를 사용한 접착제에서 유채박의 가수분해 조건과 상관없이 KS 규격의 E0 기준보다 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 결과적으로 유채박이 합판용 접착제의 원료로서 사용될 수 있을 것으로 생각되나, 열압시간을 단축시키기 위한 유채박 접착제의 고형분 함량을 증가시키는 방안과 접착제의 목재 침투 정도와 인장 전단강도 사이의 관계를 확인하는 현미경적 미세구조에 대한 연구가 유채박 접착제의 상용화를 위해 필요할 것으로 판단된다. Petroleum-based adhesive resins have extensively been used for the production of wood panels. However, it is necessary to develop environmentally friendly adhesive resins due to the increase of manufacturing cost and the environmental issue, such as the emission of volatile organic compounds, of the pertroleum-based adhesive resins. This study was conducted to formulate environmentally friendly adhesive resins using by rapeseed flour (RSF), which is the by-product of bio-diesel produced from rapeseed, for replacing petroleum-based adhesives with them. To formulate RSF-based adhesive resins, RSF was hydrolyzed in de-ionized water, 1% and 3% sodium hydroxide solutions. As a crosslinking agent, PF prepolymers were prepared with 1.8, 2.1 and 2.4 mol formaldehyde and 1 mol phenol (1.8-, 2.1- and 2.4-PF), and then mixed with RSF hydrolyzates to complete the formulation of RSF-based adhesive resins. The RSF-based adhesive resins were applied to fabricate 3-ply plywood panels. The solid content of RSF-based adhesive resins were ranged from 26.08% to 36.12% depending on the hydrolysis condition of RSF and PF prepolymer type with a high viscosity. The tensile shear strength and wood failure of plywood fabricated with RSF-based adhesive resins exceeded a minimum requirement of KS standard for ordinary plywood regardless of the hydrolysis condition of RSF and PF prepolymer type. Formaldehyde emissions of the plywood panels fabricated with 1.8-PF and RSF hydrolyzates were lower than that of E0 specified in the KS standard. Based on the results, RSF might be used as a raw material of environmentally friendly adhesives for the production of plywood panels, but further researches-the increase of solid content of RSF-based adhesives for reducing press time and the microscopic observation of plywood specimen for identifying the relationship between tensile shear strength and the penetration of adhesives into wood structure-are required to commercialize the RSF-based adhesives.

Gingival fibromatosis which represents a fibrous hyperplasia of the gingival tissue is relatively uncommon benign oral condition. Characteristically, the firm enlarged gingival tissue often obscure the anatomic crowns of the teeth. They may deform palatal contours and subsequently crowd the tongue with a resultant interferance in speech and mastication as well as inability to maintain normal lip closure. Numerous examples not accompanied by ingestion of dilantin sodium, hypertrichosis, hereditary factors, cherubism, or ectodermal dysplasia have been generally labeled idiopathic . Although it has been stated that the treatment of choice is surgical removal of the enlarged tissues, there is a tendency for the condition to recur within a few years. The patient, 21-year-old female, was admitted to department of dentistry, Dong San Hospital, Keimyung University with the chief complaint of mastication difficulty and cosmetic problem-elephantiasis gingivae. She showed severe fibrous enlargement of maxillary and mandibular attached and nonattached gingivae. The gingival tissues generally were firm and dense, and the teeth were covered with dense, fibrous tissues, and this tissues may interfere with eruption. There was an operation history of excision of excessive gingival enlargement at five year old. She was diagnosed empty sella syndrom with partial hypopituitarism at endocrine tests. We got the good results in esthetics and functions by extraction of all teeth and surgical excision of the hyperplastic gingival tissue followed by complete dentures.
