한국교회사에서 삼백만부흥운동에 대한 언급은 곳곳에 나타난다. 하지만이 운동의 실체에 대한 연구는 아직도 미진한 상태다. 따라서 해방 직후에 김치선이 중심이 되어 주도한 삼백만부흥운동이 이 글을 통해서 한국교회사에서 재평가되고, 특히 해방 직후 교회의 재건과 함께 부흥운동사에 있어서 바른 정립을 기대한다. 김치선은 이 운동을 계획함에 있어서 한국교회의 부흥운동의 효시인 1907 년 대부흥운동을 전제로 해서 한국교회의 부흥운동의 역사를 계승하는 것임을 밝히고 있다. 따라서 삼백만부흥운동은 해방 이후의 민족복음화운동의 효시이며, 한국교회 부흥사에 있어서 중요한 위치에 있고 할 수 있다. 일반적으로 민족복음화라는 말은 1970년대에 이후에 사용하기 시작했다. 그렇다면 1945년에 시작한 삼백만부흥운동이야말로 민족복음화운동의 효시이고, 한국교회 부흥의 역사에서 1907년 대부흥운동으로부터 이어지는 부흥운동의 맥을 잇는 역할을 했다고 해석하는 것이 가능하다. 그럼에도 이 운동에 대한 인식이 결여된 채 한국교회사를 서술한다는 것은 역사적 사실을 놓치는 것이다. 김치선이 주도한 삼백만부흥운동은 복음전도를 통해서 민족구원과 구국 (救國)이라는 두 가지 목적을 이루고자 했다. 김치선은 “구국과 구령”이라는 이중의 목적을 위해서 민족복음화라고 하는 방법을 선택했고, 이 민족복음화를 위해서 삼백만부흥운동을 계획하고 전개한 것이다. 결국 삼백만부흥운동을 전개하는 것은 “구국과 구령”을 목적으로 하는 민족복음화운동이었다. Even though we can easily find a word 「Three Million Revival Movement」 in the history of Korean church, still, researches on 「Three Million Revival Movement」 are insufficient so far. I anticipate this paper would contribute to revaluation of the 「Three Million Revival Movement」 in the history of Korean church, especially in the history of ‘Revival Movement’ immediately after the liberation. 「Three Million Revival Movement」 is the beginning of ‘National Evangelism Movement’ after liberation, and it stand on the forefront of the revival history of Korean church. Chi-Syun Kim stated that 「Three Million Revival Movement」 is succeeding history of Korean church’s ‘Revival Movement’ when he planned this movement (he premised ‘The Great Revival Movement’ in 1907 which is the beginning of Korean church’s ‘Revival Movement’). National Evangelism, in general, was used since 1970’s. So 「Three Million Revival Movement」 would consider as the beginning of ‘National Evangelism Movement’. And we can regard 「Three Million Revival Movement」 as a successor of ‘Revival Movement’ after ‘The Great Revival Movement’ in 1907. So describe Korean Church’s history without 「Three Million Revival Movement」, means it missed an important historical fact. 「Three Million Revival Movement」 , led by Chi-Syun Kim, was aimed to achieve two main purposes ‘people’s salvation’ and ‘national salvation’ through evangelization. Chi-Syun Kim choose ‘National Evangelism Movement’ as a mean for achieving his two purpose ‘national salvation’ and ‘soul salvation’. Ultimately, 「Three Million Revival Movement」 is ‘National Evangelism Movement’ for the purpose of ‘national salvation’ and ‘soul salvation’.

<삼백만부흥운동>은 해방직후인 1945년에 시작된 구국을 위한 복음전도운동이다. 이 운동은 구 대한신학교의 설립자이며, 당시 남대문장로교회의 담임목사인 김치선이 주도했다. 해방직후의 한국사회는 극도의 혼란과 어려운 상태였다. 즉 정치적인 불완전함과 경제적인 어려움으로 인해서 절망적인 상황이었다. 이러한 상황에서 당시 장로교회의 유력한 지도자였던 김치선은 나라를 구할 수 있는 길은 오직 복음전도에 있음을 확신하고 <삼백만부흥운동>을 계획했다. 이 운동은 당시 인구의 1/10을 구원하여 나라를 구하자는 뜻을 담고 있다. 이 운동은‘우물파기운동’과‘대한신학교 설립’, 부흥집회, 그리고‘전도특공대’를 특별한 지역(38선의 접경지역, 지리산, 한라산 등)에 파견함으로 구체화 했다. 그리고 이 운동은 대한예수교장로회 대신교단과 우물파기운동의 정신을 계승하고 있는 신학교에 의해서 계속되고 있으며, 그 제자들은 전도특공대의 순교정신을 계승하여 전국에 복음을 전파하기 위한 우물파는 일을 계속하고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 한국교회사에 있어서 이 운동은 잘 알려지지 않은 채 묻혀있다. 지금까지 극히 일부의 학자들과 목회자들이 이 운동에 대해서 인지하거나 나름대로 역사적 사건으로 소개하고 있을 뿐이다. 따라서 이 운동에 대한 학문적 체계적인 연구가 반드시 있어야 할 것이며, 한국교회의 성장사에 있어서 간과되어서는 안 될 일이다. 한국교회의 성장사에 있어서‘부흥운동’은 하나의 흐름이며 특징이다. 그 중에<삼백만부흥운동>은 해방직후 한국교회의 부흥을 이끌었던 역사적 운동이었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그 실체와 성격에 대해서 지금까지 거의 알려지지 않았다. 따라서 이 연구는 한국교회사에 있어서 <삼백만부흥운동>의 역사적 실체와 성격을 밝히는데 목적이 있다. ‘Three million revival movement’, since 1945, is an evangelical movement for the national salvation. This movement is led by Chisun Kim who is the senior pastor of Namdaemoon Presbyterian Church. Right after the Korean War, Korea faced with despairing condition. Koreans are suffered from political imperfection and economic difficulties. In this situation, Chisun Kim planed ‘Three Million Revival Movement’ with a confidence that the only way of national salvation comes from evangelism. He started this movement for national salvation through redeems one-ten people of the Korea at that time. This movement left many historical results - ‘28,000 wells drilling movement’, ‘Daehan Theological seminary’ and ‘evangelical commando (sent to the area of 38th parallel, Mt. Jiri and Mt. Halla)’. And this movement is still continued by Daeshin Assembly (General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Korea) and Seminary which have succeeded the spirit of ‘28,000 wells drilling movement’. Followers are going on their work – drilling wells – for evangelization of the whole country. This movement, however, has been unknown to the history of Korean church. This movement has been neglected and never been researched systematically in the growth history of Korean church. Hitherto, few theologians and pastors recognize and treat it as a historical fact. ‘Revival movement’ is a feature and flow in the growth history of Korean church. ‘Three million revival movement’ was a historical movement. It led growth of Korea church after the restoration of independence of Korea. However, it is little known up to now. Hence, this study aims for examine historical substance and historical significance of the ‘Thee Million Revival Movement’.
