Total polyphenol compounds and its antioxidant activity of Geuk (Momordica cochinchinensis) were determined in this study. Geuk was obtained from National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science, Rural Development Administration (RDA) in Jeju. Pill-extract and aril-extract of Geuk had approximately 9.3 mg and 7.96 mg of polyphenolic compounds per g extract, respectively. Additionally the contents of total flavonoid compounds in Geuk showed approximately 0.50 mg and 0.53 mg per g extracts in pill and aril part. For determination of antioxidant activities, the scavenging activity for DPPH and NO radical was measured after treatment of Geuk extracts. However, the radical scavenging activity of Geuk extracts was not shown in treatment of 5 mg/ml, a high concentration. Geuk fruit had the relatively low total phenolic compounds and low antioxidant activity, and therefore was not considered to be valuable natural material for functional food, based on its antioxidant activity.

Eclipta alba 1., a Compositae family, which is an annual plant in Korea. Eclipta alba L. has non-toxicity in human and has anti-carcinogenic activities against uterine cancer, esophageal cancer, and skin cancer. And Eclipta alba L. improve the kidney function. So far, there has been minimal research regarding antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of Eclipta alba L. ethanol-extract. Therefore I investigated the antioxidant activities of Eclipta alba L. ethanol-extract prior to anti-inflammatory research. Antioxidant activities were measured by reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) radical scavenge. DPPH radical scavenging and reducing power assay was performed for ROS quenching activity, and nitric oxide (NO) scavenging assay was done for RNS quenching activity. Hydrogen donor activity of Eclipta alba L ethanol-extract to DPPH radical was approximately 63% and 30% remaining radicals at 31.25 and 62.5 ㎍/ml in a concentration-dependant manner. Approximately more than 90% DPPH radical quenching activity was shown at 125 ㎍/ml of Eclipta alba L. ethanol-extract (EC_(50) = 39 ㎍/ml at 0 - 1,000 ㎍/ml). Reducing power of Fe^(3+) of Eclipta alba L. ethanol-extract was increased as extract increased, consistent to DPPH radical scavenging activity. However Eclipta alba L. ethanol-extract had no NO radical scavenging activity. From this report, Eclipta alba L. ethanol-extract have prominent scavenging activity on ROS, but not on RNS. In early stage of inflammatory response, Eclipta alba L. ethanol-extract is expected to have inhibitory effects of iNOS and COX-2 expression and cellular adhesion by antioxidant properties.
Pen.janthinullum에 의한 염료의 흡착 제거 특성

Dyes released from dyestuff industry and textile industry causes various pollutional problems and poisonous to the organisms. The dye-adsorbable fungus has been isolated and identified as Pen.janthinellum. The optimal temperature and initial pH in the growth of Pen.janthinellum was 30℃ and 7, respectively. It is showed that dye (0.01g/100㎖) is removed completely in the culture broth. When starch as the carbon source is used, the removal of dye was 89% and so starch is available as carbon source for dye removal. And 3g/ℓ above of starch concentration is necessary for remonal of dye(0.01g/100㎖). Apollo Nylon Fast Red S2B., Nylon Fast Red M-E7B., Apollocion Red H-E7B., Apollocion Red H-E3B. was removed about 90.2, 89.3, 87.6, 85.6%, respectively. In the case of detergent addition, the impovement of adsorbability was not shown. It is identified that dead cells have the adsorbability of dye and assumed applications in the waste water treatment.
PNF 패턴을 이용한 운동이 만성 편마비 환자의 보행에 미치는 영향

목적 : 본 연구는 만성 뇌졸중 환자에서 고유 수용성 신경근 촉진법이 보행 능력에 미치는 효과를 관찰하기 위해 2014년 11월 3일부터 2014년 11월 30일까지에서 약 한 달 동안 20명의 환자를 대상으로 실험 하였다. 방법 : 대상자를 실험군(N = 10)과 대조군(N = 10) 으로 구분하였다. 실험군에는 고유수용성 신경근 촉진법을 실시하엿다(회당 30분, 주 5회, 4주). 실험전과 실험 후 보행능력을 평가 하였다. 결과: 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다; 실험군, 대조군 각각 실험 전 후 비교에서 속도, 보행률, 한발지지 기간, 두발지지 기간, 중력중심점이동에서 유의한 차이를 보였다(P <.05). 추가로, 중력중심점이동(COP)은 두 군간 비교에서 유의 한 차이를 나타내었다. 결론 : 본 연구의 결과 PNF 운동을 통해 뇌졸중 환자의 COP가 향상한 것으로 나타났다, 이러한 결과는 고유수용성 신경근 촉진법이 뇌졸중 환자의 보행능력에 도움이 된다고 할 수 있다. Purpose : This study was carried out with 20 subjects for about one month from November 3, 2014 to November 30, 2014 in order to observe the effect of gait ability with proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation in chronic stroke patients Methods : Subjects were assigned to either experimental group (n=10) or the control group, experimental group received proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques (30 min per course, 5 days a week for 4 weeks). Subjects were assessed for gait ability (smart step gait test) before and after the experiments. Results : The results of the this study were as follows; There are significant differences between experimental group and control group in velocity, cadence, single limb support, double limb support and center of pressure(p<.05). In addition, only COP showed the significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion : The results of this study showed that PNF exercise increased center of pressure in stroke patients, These results could be helpful to gait ability in stroke patients.
