This inquiry searches for the policy alternatives to have a national integration in the South Korean society meeting the 60th anniversary of the Korean War(1950-1953). It attempts to reach that goal through the review on the KIA(Killed In Action)/MIA(Missing In Action) recovery and identification project initiated from the year 2000 as well as those innocently sacrificed civilians who regarded as the left just before and after the Korean War. The KIA/MIA recovery and identification project since 2000 has provided an opportunity promoting the national integration in terms of national security redeeming patriotism in the South Korean society. In addition, the KIA/MIA recovery and identification project has a possibility of intensifying inter-Korean relations and promoting peace/tension reduction on the Korean peninsula by delivering North Korean KIAs./MIAs. Moreover, the UN KIA/MIA recovery and identification project will definitely promote the South Korea's international status through the efforts devoted to the humanitarianism. The civilian sacrificed in groups recovery and identification project initiated from the year 2007 will contribute to the ways of disclosing the truth in the Korean history just before and after the Korean War. It will also provide the national integration through the close examination of actual facts and restoration of fame. It is expected to enhance the national identity based on the international cooperation and reconciliation as well as the universal virtue of human rights. In the future, such a project will lead to the national integration on the basis of co-living and resolution on historical enmities and the road for the peaceful unification of South and North Korea.
