Convolution Kernel 크기 변경을 통한 Neural Networks Corruption Robustness 향상

This paper presents a simple yet effective modification of an object detection network to improve corruption robustness. We utilize the retinanet as a base network and PCB dataset as our reference dataset. To improve corruption robustness, our design change the convolution kernel size of lateral convolutions which are placed in between the backbone and the neck of the retinanet. We proceed the experiment with the kernel size 3x3, 5x5, 7x7 and achieve the best result with 5x5 convolution kernel. The results show that the modified network achieves 6% increase in mAP for defocus blur and slight increase in several blur type corruptions while maintaining the mAP of baseline.
