β-Glucan is a polysaccharide composed of β-D-glucose that activates the immune system, inhibits the proliferation and recurrence of cancer cells, and improves lipid metabolism to inhibit body fat formation and accumulation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of β-glucan on the adhesion, proliferation and differentiation of fibroblasts. In this study, β-glucan-loaded gelatin microspheres were prepared and then a composite scaffold was prepared by adding microspheres to chitosan scaffold. Microsphere and composite scaffold were analyzed by SEM and various analytical techniques such as Zeta potential and FT-IR were used. In addition, cell toxicity tests were performed using NIH-3T3 cells, and it is expected that this study will be useful for the production of soft tissue substitutes.

There are many factors that aggravate skin tissue including exposure to ultraviolet rays, chemicals, aging, and physical damages. For the restoration of damaged skin tissue, various tissue engineering technologies are under investigation. In this study, we implemented the effect of the incorporation of naturally derived agent into microspheres on the skin tissue regeneration. Analysis was performed using scanning electron microscope, Fourier transform infrared spectroscope, and high performance liquid chromatograph. In addition, the their effects on fibroblast activity, NIH-3T3 cells were used to examine cellular toxicity and proliferation.
