A study on fate and behavior of endosulfan, which is an organochlorine insecticide detected mainly in Korean soil, is important due to its toxicity and persistence in soil environment. To estimate isotherms for the adsorption of endosulfan isomers (α-, β-) and their metabolite (-sulfate) in soil, their adsorption amounts were investigated in various soils containing different organic matter contents. The tested soils were collected at Ansim and Gunwi, and some of them were prepared as organic matter-removed (OMR) samples using H2O2. As time-dependent adsorbed amounts of endosulfan reached to their equilibrium after 6 h in Ansim, Gunwi and OMR Ansim soils, OMR Gunwi soil did not adsorb the pesticide within 24 h. The adsorption isotherms of endosulfan isomers and their metabolite fitted to Freundlich adsorption isotherms for three equilibrated soil samples. The correlation coefficients (R2) of the isotherms were greater than 0.964. Freundlich adsorption coefficient (Kf) ranged from 8.66 to 19.20 for α-endosulfan, from 7.08 to 20.49 for β-endosulfan and from 8.62 to 17.98 for endosulfan-sulfate, respectively. The difference of Kf values of endosulfan indicated that the adsorption amount of endosulfan was dependent on the contents of organic matter. Therefore, the behavior of endosulfan in soil environment is definitely affected by the amount of organic matters in soil.
고등학교 지구과학 교과 ‘대기의 변화’ 단원에서 Jigsaw Ⅱ 협동학습이 학생의 과학 탐구능력, 과학에 대한 태도, 창의적 인성에 미치는 영향

This study proposed a Teaching-Learning process in the Earth Science curriculum using the Jigsaw II Cooperative Learning Model. By applying this Model, the effects on Students Science Process Skills, Attitude toward Science, and Creative Personality were analyzed. Using the 2015 revised curriculum and Teaching-Learning materials reflecting the 2015 revised curriculum, the achievement standards and learning goals of each small unit were established and the study topics and sub-topics were selected. Based on this Model, the Teaching-Learning plan of a total of 6 classes was devised and the Teaching-Learning plan was modified and supplemented with the data collected by conducting two content feasibility checks on a group of experts and pilot tests on students. Using the proposed Teaching-Learning plan, Teaching-Learning was conducted on 100 sophomore male students who chose Earth Science I at a high school in Songpa-gu, Seoul. According to the result, Students’ Science Process Skills showed 7.55 points(p<0.05) higher than pre-tests. The attitude toward Science, which is the affective domain, also showed 23.24 points(p<0.05) higher than pre-test, and it had a significant positive effect on Creative Personality(p<0.05). In addition, in terms of learning, this led to students higher interest in learning, active participation in learning, and a positive atmosphere. Therefore, Teaching-Learning using the Jigsaw II Cooperative Learning Model in high school Earth Science curriculum has a positive effect on Students Science Process Skills, Attitude toward Science, and Creative Personality, and can be presented as a new alternative to teacher-led teaching classes.

열처리에 따른 수경재배인삼과 잎줄기의 화학성분과 효소활성 변화를 살펴보기 위하여 90, 110, 130 및 150℃에서 2시간 열처리한 후 갈변도, 5-HMF, 유리당, 유기산 함량, 효소활성을 살펴보았다. Tyrosinase와 ACE 저해활성 등 효소활성은 높은 저해활성을 나타내지는 않았지만 온도가 증가함에 따라 유의적으로 그 활성이 증가하였다. Maillard 반응의 중간 및 최종 단계의 생성물인 5-HMF, 유리당, 유기산의 함량은 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라 유의적으로 증가하였다. 5-HMF 함량은 수경재배인삼과 잎줄기 모두 대조구에서는 검출되지 않았지만 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라 증가하였다. 유리당은 수경재배인삼에서는 fructose, glucose 및 sucrose 3종류의 당이 검출되었다. Sucrose는 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라 감소하였으며, fructose 및 glucose 함량은 증가하였다. 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라 이당류가 단당류로 분해되고 지속적인 열분해로 인하여 HMF, furfural 및 5-methyl furfural 등과 유기산으로 분해되기 때문에 유기산 함량 또한 증가하였다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 기능성 식품소재로의 이용을 위하여 다양한 열처리 조건을 검토해야 할 것으로 판단된다. This study investigated changes in the chemical components and enzyme activities from hydroponic-cultured ginseng roots (HGR) and leaves (HGL) with various heating temperatures (90, 110, 130, and 150℃) for 2 hours. The UV-absorbance and browning intensity of heated ginseng significantly increased with heating temperature. 5-HMF contents also significantly increased with increasing heating temperature. The free sugars (fructose, glucose, and sucrose) were detected and sucrose content decreased, but fructose and glucose content increased with increasing heating temperature. Malic, citric, lactic, and oxalic acid contents were 817.52, 722.25, 122.06, and 18.43 mg%, respectively, in HGR and 682.84, 338.21, 90.37, and 0 mg%, respectively, in HGL at 150℃. Tyrosinase and ACE inhibitory activities significantly increased with heating temperature. These results show that various components and activities of HGT and HGL significantly increase with heating temperature.
삼채의 잎, 인경, 뿌리의 총페놀 함량, 총플라보노이드 함량 및 항산화능

삼채의 잎, 인경, 뿌리 세 부위를 물, 메탄올-물 혼합용매, 무수 메탄올을 이용하여 추출물을 제조한 후, 총페놀 함량, 총플라보노이드 함량 및 항산화능을 정량 분석하였다. 삼채의 부위별 총페놀 함량은 잎이 240.4-276.6 mg GAE/100 g FW, 인경이 65.5-82.8 mg GAE/100 g FW, 뿌리가 50.0-59.4 mg GAE/100 g FW를 보였다. 삼채의 부위별 총플라보노이드 함량은 잎에서 9.7-34.1 mg CE/100 g FW, 인경에서 5.0-16.7 mg CE/100 g FW, 뿌리에서는 4.4-15.3 mg CE/100 g FW로 나타났다. ABTS법, DPPH법, ORAC법을 통한 항산화능은 잎에서 각각 78.7-103.4, 24.4-59.0, 1,798.8-2,169.7 mg VCE/100 g FW, 인경에서는 35.8-51.1, 9.3-26.3, 415.3-611.7 mg VCE/100 g FW, 뿌리에서는 42.0-55.9, 12.8-24.4, 291.7-429.4 mg VCE/100 g FW을 보였다. 삼채 잎, 인경, 뿌리 중에서 잎이 가장 높은 총페놀 함량, 총플라보노이드 함량 및 항산화능을 가졌다. 6가지 추출용매에서 60% (v/v) 메탄올-물 혼합용매에서 주로 높은 활성을 나타냈다. 항산화능은 총플라보노이드 함량보다 총페놀 함량과 더 높은 상관관계를 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 삼채가 높은 항산화능 공급할 수 있는 원료로서의 가능성을 보여 주었다는데 의의가 있다. To quantitatively evaluate the total phenolics, total flavonoids, and antioxidant capacity in the leaves, bulbs, and roots of fresh Allium hookeri, they were extracted using various solvents including water, aqueous methanol (20, 40, 60, and 80%; v/v), and absolute methanol. The leaves had the highest levels of total phenolics (240.4-276.6 mg gallic acid equivalents/100 g) and total flavonoids (9.7-34.1 mg catechin equivalents/100 g). The highest antioxidant capacities of 78.7-103.4 mg vitamin C equivalents (VCE)/100 g, 24.4-59.0 mg VCE/100 g, and 1,798.8-2,169.7 mg VCE/100 g in the leaves were also observed using 2,2-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), and oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) assays, respectively. The total phenolics had a higher linear correlation with antioxidant capacity than the total flavonoids. In general, 60% (v/v) aqueous methanol extract had higher levels of total phenolics and flavonoids, and higher antioxidant capacity than any other solvents used. This study suggested that A. hookeri might be a good source of phenolics and antioxidants.
한국인 코인두암종의 조직병리학적 유형 및 EBV 출현율

Background and Objectives:Nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) shows a distinct geographic and demo-graphic distribution with high incidences in Chinese and Southeast Asians. Current WHO classification divides NPC into nonkeratinizing carcinoma(NKC)(differentiated and undifferentiated subtypes), keratinizing squa-mous cell carcinoma(KSCC), and basaloid squamous cell carcinoma(BSCC). Relative frequency of histologic subtypes of NPC is known to vary according to the incidence of NPC. Korea is one of the low-incidence coun-tries according to the GLOBOCAN 2008 database by IARC. The aim of this study is to assess the histopatho-logic types and EBV status of NPC of Koreans. Materials and Methods:We reviewed and reclassified 168 cases of NPC(132 males and 36 females) diagnosed from January 1996 through July 2006. In situ hybridiza-tion for EBV-encoded early RNA(EBER) was performed on 146 cases and the results were compared among different histologic types, genders, and age and stage groups. Results:NKC, undifferentiated subtype(NKC-U) was identified in 106 cases(63.1%) and differentiated subtype(NKC-D) in 49 cases(29.2%). Remaining 13 cases(7.7%) were classified as KSCC. NKC and NKC-U were more common in females than in males. EBV prevalence was higher in NKC than in KSCC(NKC-U, 90% ;,NKC-D, 84.1% ; KSCC, 7.7%) and more com-mon in younger age(≤40) than older age(>40) group. Conclusion:Histologic type distribution and EBV prevalence of NPC in Korean patients corresponded to that of intermediate incidence area. Pathogenesis of na-sopharyngeal KSCC is assumed to be different from that of NKC.

A 54-year-old man was transferred from another hospital due to a hematoma in the third portion of the duodenum on abdomen CT. He had been admitted for 2 weeks due to vomiting at another hospital. He had abdominal discomfort and nausea without abdominal pain when he visited the Gwangyang Sarang Hospital. Other than a distended abdomen and mild general abdominal tenderness, the results of physical examination were unremarkable. Abdominal CT revealed an approximately 9 cm thick walled hematoma at the anteroinferior site of the duodenal third portion. Upper endoscopy revealed stenosis of the third portion of the duodenum without mucosal lesions. The endoscope was not advanced through the narrowed duodenal lumen. A retroperitoneal hematoma was diagnosed, and his state was classified as subacute rather than acute based on the duration. The surgeon did not recommend surgical treatment. Urgent treatment was unnecessary; he was managed conservatively. The size of the hematoma decreased from 9.0 cm to 5.8 cm on the following CT. He could begin to eat food on the 26th admission day, and he was discharged on the 31st admission day. The hematoma disappeared entirely on the following CT. This paper describes a rare case of idiopathic retroperitoneal hematoma with a spontaneous resolution. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2021;78:295-299)
