The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences between expert and novice of lower extremity muscle activities during Korean traditional dance, Keun Pat Chim Ddwim Che. Sixteen female in their 20s-30s (8 experts and 8 novices) were required to measure Mean EMG muscle activities. Surface EMG of 8 lower extremity muscle activities was recorded, and the root mean square of the EMG was normalized, using a maximum voluntary isometric contraction(%MVC). Expert dancers showed significantly larger biceps femoris (P1), medial gastrocnemius, gluteus medius, rectus abdominis (P2), medial gastrocnemius, biceps femoris, gluteus medius, erector spinae (P3), tibialis anterior (P4) muscle activities than novice dancers. Dance instructor may use these findings to train novice dancer in taking appropriate posture which leads to greater accuracy, stability and prospective planning through the improved related lower extremity muscle activities. 본 연구의 목적은 한국무용 큰받침뜀체 동작을 수행할 때 20대 여성 숙련자(8명)와 비숙련자(8명)의 하지 근활성도의 특성을 파악하고, 두 집단의 차이를 규명하는 것이다. 근전도를 측정하여 평균 근 활성도를 비교분석하였다. 연구결과, 한국무용 큰받침뜀체 동작 시 다양한 하지 근육군이 동원 되었으며, 특히 장딴지근 및앞정강근의 근 활성도가 높게 나타났으므로 이 두 근육의 강화운동이 필요하다. 또한 무릎관절의 굴곡이 진행되는 과정이므로 넙다리두갈래근의 강한 근력이 요구되며, 중심이 흔들리지 않게 중간볼기근의 힘을 강화해야한다. 결론적으로 하지의 힘 조절과 몸통의 균형을 유지하기 위한 척주세움근 및 배곧은근 강화운동을통해 큰받침뜀체를 안정적으로 수행할 수 있도록 트레이닝 해야 한다.
온열치료효과 분석을 위한 CRL-1888 마우스 종양 세포주의 배양 온도 변화에 따른 증식 특성 연구

The purpose of this study is to investigate the proliferation characteristics of CRL-1888 mouse tumor cell line for standardization of the hyperthermic animal model. Proliferation characteristics of the CRL-1888 mouse tumor cell line at hyperthermic environment was tested at eleven different culturing temperatures (36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 45, 46℃) and for seven different culturing times (24, 48, 72, 96, 120, 144, 168hours). The result shows that the proliferation curves of the CRL-1888 mouse tumor cell line are well in accord with the theoretical formula LogN = LogN0 + kt. Where N is a measured number of cells, N0 is the initially inoculated number of cells and k is the proliferation characteristic constant which was calculated from the interpolated slope of the proliferation curves. The maximum value of the proliferation constant was 0.021 at 39℃ incubation test. However, it was 0.011 for normal incubation test temperature of 37℃. These results were well in accord with the results of the microscopic observation for CRL- 1888 proliferation tests. And the value of the proliferation constant k was conversed to negative value at the temperature above 42℃. Therefore, the effectiveness of hyperthermia treatment for CRL-1888 can be expected at the temperature above 42℃.

Objective: The demands for measures to improve disease resistance and productivity of livestock are increasing, as most countries prohibit the addition of antibiotics to feed. This study therefore aimed to uncover functional feed additives to help enhance livestock immunity and disease resistance, using Acanthopanax sessiliflorus fruit extract (ASF). Methods: ASF was extracted with 70% EtOH, and total polyphenolic and catechin contents were measured by the Folin-Ciocalteu and vanillin assay, respectively. The 3D4/31 porcine macrophage cells (MΦ) were activated by phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), and cell survival and growth rate were measured with or without ASF treatment. Flow-cytometric analysis determined the lysosomal activity, reactive oxygen species levels (ROS), and cell cycle distribution. Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) protein expression levels were quantified by western blotting and densitometry analysis. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction was applied to measure the lipid metabolism-related genes expression level. Lastly, the antibacterial activity of 3D4/31 MΦ cells was evaluated by the colony forming unit assay. Results: ASF upregulated the cell viability and growth rate of 3D4/31 MΦ, with or without PMA activation. Moreover, lysosomal activity and intracellular ROS levels were increased after ASF exposure. In addition, the antioxidant enzyme SOD2 expression levels were proportionately increased with ROS levels. Both ASF and PMA treatment resulted in upregulation of NF-κB protein, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)α mRNA expression levels, lipid synthesis, and fatty acid oxidation metabolism. Interestingly, co-treatment of ASF with PMA resulted in recovery of NF-κB, TNFα, and lipid metabolism levels. Finally, ASF pretreatment enhanced the in vitro bactericidal activity of 3D4/31 MΦ against Escherichia coli. Conclusion: This study provides a novel insight into the regulation of NF-κB activity and lipid metabolism in MΦ, and we anticipate that ASF has the potential to be effective as a feed additive to enhance livestock immunity.

Background:The β-amyloid protein, Aβ, which accumulates in the brains of Alzheimer's disease patients, is derived by proteolysis of the amyloid precursor protein (APP). APP can undergo endoproteolytic processing at three sites, one at the amino terminus of the Aβ domain (by β-secretase), one within the Aβ domain (by α-secretase), and one at the carboxyl terminus of the Aβ domain (by γ-secretase) Constitutive and PKC-regulated α-secretase pathways have been reported to secrete sAPPα. In both pathways, we examined mechanisms of furin, which is known to regulate α-secretase activity Methods:Two methods were used to inhibit the activity of furin:overexpression of prodomain of furin and the infection of furin-specific inhibitor α-1-PDX adenovirus in a COS-7 cell. Real-Time PCR was used to determine the level of mRNA of furin in both the APP transgenic mice and age-matched control mice. Results:As a result of inhibiting the activity of furin, the level of sAPPα was significantly decreased regardless of the PKC activity, and the total level of APP did not change as well In a real-time PCR, there was a significant decrease in the mRNA of furin in APP transgenic mice compared to that of control Conclusion:Our results suggest that furin plays an important role in the processing of APP through α-secretase and that the decrease in the level of furin may be closely related to the mechanisms that lead to Alzheimer's disease.
