대학 글쓰기 교재 개선에 관한 시론 - 충남대학교 교재를 중심으로 -

이 연구는 충남대학교 기초글쓰기 교재인 『사고와 표현』을 대상으로 이의 문제점 분석 및 그 개선 방향에 주안점을 둔다. 2장은 기초글쓰기의 교육목표를 가늠하고 교재 평가의 기준 설정에 초점을 맞추었다. 그리고 3장은 일관성, 체계성, 효용성을 기준으로 하여 교재의 문제점을 분석하였다. 대학 글쓰기의 교육 목표에 대한 논의는 사고력 신장과 표현력 신장으로 모아지며 신입생이 교육 대상이 되는 기초글쓰기와 2학년 이상이 되는 계열별 글쓰기는 각각의 목표와 과정을 설정할 필요가 있다. 그리고 기초글쓰기는 비판적 사고력 신장을 유도하되 쓰기에 필요한 전략의 훈련을 통한 문제 해결능력 신장에 더 많은 비중을 두어야 한다. 일관성의 기준으로 볼 때, 기초글쓰기 교재에는 쓰기 단계별 전략과 그에 따른 예시 자료가 적합성을 갖지 못하거나 각 단원별 내용이 서로 부합되지 않는 부분이 보인다. 이를 위해서는 합리성이나 타당성에 초점을 맞춘 객관적 양식의 글을 중심으로 일관성 있게 편찬되어야 한다. 아울러 어떤 유형의 글을 쓰도록 학습자를 훈련시킬지에 대한 진지한 고민도 요구된다. 교재의 10장은 진술방식의 분류에 따른 유형화가 체계성을 지니지 못하고 있으며 다른 단원과의 연계성도 떨어지고 있다. 이러한 체계성 부재를 지양하는 방법으로는 진술방식을 설명방식과 논증방식으로 크게 나누고 묘사와 서사방식을 설명방식의 하위범주로 포함시키는 방향이 바람직해 보인다. 교재의 부록은 글쓰기에서 활용성이 낮기 때문에 활용성 측면에서 문법적인 자료를 읽기 자료들로 대체해야 부록의 실용성과 효용성을 살릴 수 있다. 이에 대한 기대 효과는 문어적 문식성의 함양, 예시 자료의 보완, 비판적 사고력 유도와 표현력 향상, 학습 형태의 다양화, 지식의 내면화와 글쓰기 관습의 학습 등이다. This study focused on the analysis of the problem and the improvement plan on the basic writing textbook `Thought and Expression`(CNU`edition). In chapter 2, I evaluated the educational objective of the basic writing and focused on the standard setting of teaching material assessment. And I analysed the problem of the material according to the standard of consistency(in chapter 3-1), systemicity(in 3-2) and usefulness(in 3-3). The educational objective of writing in university is enhancing the ability to think and express. Basic writing is true of freshmen and writing depending on a major is true of sophomores and above. So the objective and the process of writing need to be set differently. Basic writing has to be taught to enhance the ability to critically think and solve the problem through the strategic training. On the basis of consistency, in basic writing textbook, phased writing strategy and accordingly example materials are not appropriate and the contents are not in consistency. To solve this problem, a basic writing textbook should be published with objective contents focused on rationality and validity. In addition, instructers should take into serious consideration how to train learners to write. In chapter 10, there is no systemicity in type of statement mode and little connection with another unit. To avoid this absence of systemicity, it is desirable to divide the type of statement into descriptive or demonstrative, and to include the type of narration into the subcategory of the type of description. Given the low availability of the textbook`s appendix in writing, it is required that grammatical materials should be replaced with reading materials to well-utilize the appendix. The expectation effect on this is to culture literary literacy, to supplement the example materials, to enhance the ability to critically think and express, to diversify the form of learning and to internalize the knowledge and acquire the habit of writing.
